Introduction: Few studies on the prevalence of male sexual diseases are currently available due to difficult application of observational studies or andrological disease prevention campaigns on large series of apparently healthy subjects. The medical check-up linked to compulsory military service represented in Italy a valid tool for epidemiological and observational study for 18 year old boys from 1861 to 2004. The stopping of compulsory military service and its related medical check-up could have determined an important social impact in terms of a lower level of attention and care on male genital/sexual diseases. The aim of the present observational study was to check the prevalence of genital/ sexual diseases among young male high-school students and promote an alternative campaign of information among young students. Methods: A prospective observational analytical study on young male students was conducted by 6 urological centres. Genital and sexually transmitted diseases were presented with slides to students in a general assembly. Some students were then counselled and filled out a short questionnaire on their lifestyle. Results: 12,535 students (10,432 males-83.6%) followed the presentation. and 4,897 males (46.7%) decided to be checked-up by the urologist and out of them 1554 (31.7%) presented relevant andrological diseases. Five-hundred students completed the questionnaire concerning their lifestyle. Many of them had not yet experienced condom use during sexual intercourse (27.8%). Drug abuse was reported by 39.6% of subjects and alcohol consumption in 80.8% of them. Conclusions: These data suggest the need for a national information campaign on male sexual disorders to promote sexual health.

Although commonly associated with girls and women, eating disorders do not discriminate. School nurses need to be aware that male students also can suffer from the serious health effects of anorexia nervosa, bulimia, anorexia athletica, and eating disorders not otherwise specified. Sports that focus on leanness and weight limits can add to a growing boy’s risk of developing an eating disorder. Issues of body image and sexual development can complicate and can distort previously normal eating habits. Students may use powerful and dangerous drugs readily available via the Internet, including growth hormone, creatine, testosterone, and aminophyl-line, to build muscle and to eliminate fat, potentially causing serious health consequences. School nurses can partner with health and physical education teachers, coaches, school staff, parents, and students to identify and to support boys with eating disorders

Eating disorders is a general term used for grouping all the problems related to eating attitudes under one title and for expressing these problems. Orthorexia nervosa (ON), also known as “obsession of healthy eating” recently happened to be the research topic of clinicians worldwide. This study was conducted to evaluate the association between eating attitudes and orthorexia nervosa in university students. The research population was comprised of 379 university students in the departments of nutrition and dietetics and nursing. The data was collected by the survey form questioning some of the socio-demographic and anthropometric properties of the students; and as for the data collection tool, ON tendency was determined by ORTHO-11 test and the information regarding anorexia and buliminia nervosa was gathered by “Eating Manner Test (EAT-40). Mean age of the students was found as 20.09±1.47 years, mean body weight as 60.55±10.01 kg, and mean height as 168.08±7.91 cm. Mean BMI of the all participating students is found as 21.6±2.12 as normal weight (18.5-24.9). EAT-40 points of the female were found to be significantly higher in comparison to that of the male (p<0.05). ORTHO-11 points of the male students were found to be significantly higher as compared to that of female students (p<0.05). Eating disorders will tend to increase as long as the concepts of beauty, good look and appeal are based on low body mass index. We also believe that the youg population who are most influenced by such popular trends need to acquire truly healthy nutrition habits through training and increase their quality of life.

In modern conditions, constant monitoring of the level of physical development is necessary, as this is the diagnostic key of the risk of developing diseases and taking prevention activities. The screening data of the physical development of 832 senior schoolstudents and first-year students at Pacific State Medical University (434 young men and 398 girls) aged 15–18 years were used. The assessment of physical development was carried out with anthropometric and functional traits. The individual level of physical development is determined using the method of sigmal deviations. Statistical processing of materials was carried out using the software STATISTICA 13 and Excel (Microsoft Office 2010). Testing the hypothesis for the normal distribution of quantitative traits in groups was carried out using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Shapiro-Wilk, Kramer-von-Mises criteria and the Pearson χ² acceptance criterion. All the data arrays obeyed the normal distribution law. A statistically significant difference in the groups between the quantitative parameters under the condition of equality (homoscedasticity) of the variances was evaluated using the parametric Student’s t-test. The average values of the physical development of the youth of Vladivostok are established. Physiometric signs showed statistically significant differences between the mean values of the vital capacity of the lungs and the dynamometry of the right hand between young schoolboys and young male students, and the average values of the strength of the right arm of schoolgirls and female students. Most of the examined persons had a moderate physical development, but predominantly girls have a lack of body weight, and young male students are prone to obesity. Levels of life index and power indices below the norm are more than 50 % of respondents. The differences in statistical indicators are significant with a degree of significance of p < 0.05. The data obtained as a result of the research are necessary for the development of preventive programs to enhance the physical development and promote the health of the young generation.

According to data of researchers throughout the duration of 2002-2012 the morbidity rate in students increased by 35%. One of the measures aimed at correction of the level of population health is to revive in Russia the all-Russian sports complex «Ready for Labor and Defense» (aRSC RLD). Objectives of the aRSC RLD are the elevation of the efficiency of opportunities of physical culture and sports in promoting health, harmonious and comprehensive development of personality, upbringing of patriotism and the provision of succession in the implementation ofphysical education of the population. In this regard, the study of the current morpho-functional state ofpersons occupying in the ontogeny of human development the special position - adolescence, is a topical and timely study in the accomplishment of the analysis of conformity of kinds of testing aRSC RLD and their regulations with the current physical condition of modern young male students.

Background: The passage through university, as a complex experience, can heighten personal susceptibility to eating disorders. The objective of this research is to determine how gender, age, year of course, and center or faculty can influence the risk of an eating disorder among university students. Method: A transversal and descriptive study with a probabilistic sample of 516 Spanish students from 26 university degrees is performed, by administering the Inventory Eating Disorder-Reference criterion (EDI-3-RF) to the students. Results: It was found that the female students enrolled in second-year grades presented a greater obsession with thinness and body dissatisfaction, that the male students did more physical exercise to control their weight, and that those under 20 years and the students from both the Health and Law Faculties presented greater bulimic behavior. Conclusions: It is necessary to implement preventive measures adapted to the university students.

Introduction: This study investigates the level of university students' knowledge about Islamic provisions concerning relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims. The context for this study is that of the Saudi Arabian government’s drive to combat the extremism of young male Saudis through inculcating the true message of Islam. To achieve this objective, specialist Intellectual Awareness Units (IAUs) have been set up in all Saudi Arabian universities. The rationale for the existence of these units is that such students, zealous in their faith, are more vulnerable to recruitment by extremists and terrorist organizations if they have only a superficial and distorted understanding of the humane and religiously-ordained provisions in the Quran regarding relations with non-Muslims. However, this study does not examine the workings of the Intellectual Awareness Units but rather the understanding of their clients. Methodology: A random sample of 100 male students attending Majmaah University, Saudi Arabia, during the 2019-20 academic year, was asked to participate in a descriptive survey. A questionnaire was devised to collect information about student understanding of appropriate relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims, as specified in the Holy Quran. Six key themes were addressed in the questionnaire: general principles concerning the relationship between Muslims and others; provisions concerning imitation (of non-Muslim religious practices), contact, alliances and enmity; provisions concerning temples and churches; provisions concerning marriage and food; provisions concerning feasts and religious occasions and general provisions concerning alliances and wars. Results: The results of the study revealed that students’ knowledge about the provisions for dealing with non-Muslims ranged from weak to medium. That is to say, knowledge about the appropriate way for Muslims to engage with non-Muslims was far from universal. Knowledge on marriage and food provisions scored most highly with an average of 60.3%, of students answering questions on this topic correctly whilst knowledge on provisions pertaining to Temples and Churches ranked lowest with a rate of 36.5%. The overall average for all issues was 48.9%. Conclusion: If it is considered that extremism is based upon a superficial and distorted understanding of the Quran and that the level of knowledge displayed by the study sample is typical of young men in Saudi Arabia then the IAUs still have much work to do. The results of this research will be invaluable to the IAUs because it will enable them to supply more nuanced information and activities to their target audience.

Background: The foot combines mechanical complexities with structural strength to withstand pressure and the metatarsal fat pads play a major role in this. Methods Material: In this study, we determined the metatarsal fat pad thickness of 40 male students that constituted a control group and an age-matched 40 male auto mechanic artisans within Abakaliki metropolis, southeast Nigeria, which served as the quasi-experimental group. Evaluation was made using a brightness mode ultrasound system. Their weights, heights, foot length, foot breadth and mid foot circumference were measured. Results: Results show a significant (P<0.05) difference in the mid-foot circumference and metatarsal fat pad thickness between the control (9.99±0.55cm and 2.04±0.35mm respectively) and artisans (9.58±2.0.59cm and 2.50±2.0.38mm respectively). However, there was no significant (P>0.05) differences in the foot breadth and length between the control (9.86±0.84cm and 26.96±1.03cm) and artisans (10.03±0.54cm and 26.16±1.39cm).Conclusion: These findings indicate that occupation related physical activity that increases plantar pressure can induce an unprecedented thickening of the Metatarsal fat pads thereby reducing elasticity and shock absorbing ability of the fat pads. This could trigger the development of overuse injuries of the foot and plantar foot ulcers. The assessment could also serve as a guidepost in the biomechanical evaluation of the metatarsal fat pad thickness.Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.17(2) 2018 p.245-250
