Nanoporous SnO2with high photocatalytic activity has been successfully prepared by a photochemical method, using SnCl2aqueous solution as a precursor. The as-synthesized sample was characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption and UV-vis. The photocatalytic activity of the sample was evaluated by degrading methylene blue (MB) aqueous solution under the UV light source and was compared with that of the commercial titania (Degussa P25). The results showed that the produced SnO2can degrade MB solution quickly and has comparative photocatalytic performance with P25 for degrading MB. This facile method supplies an effective way to prepare SnO2photocatalyst.

The ZnO particles with mesoporous and lamellar structure were synthesized in the method of precipitation, using zinc acetate as precursor. The ZnO particles were characterized by the means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and N2 adsorption–desorption measurements. The photoactivity of as-prepared ZnO particles was evaluated by degradation experiment of methyl orange aqueous solution. The results showed the obtained ZnO particles were irregular polygons with lamellar structure, and the particle size was in the range of 50 nm to 300 nm. According to XRD and N2 absorption results, ZnO particles were pure and integrated crystals with high crystallinity, and adsorption-desorption isotherms correspond to the typical type IV isotherm with a hysteresis loop of type H3, which showed ZnO particles had mesoporous structure with slit pore shape. The ZnO particles had high photocatalytic activity, the maximum degradation rate of methyl orange aqueous solution can reach 99%. When reused for the fifth time, the photocatalytic activity of ZnO particles was similar with the fresh ones, and recycled for the tenth time, the degradation rate of methyl orange aqueous solution still standed by 84.7%.

Tuning the morphology of Ag3PO4 photocatalysts with an elevated concentration of KH2PO4 have been successfully conducted. This photocatalyst was prepared by starting material of AgNO3 and KH2PO4.  The KH2PO4 aqueous solution with five concentrations of 0.10 M, 0.15 M, 0.30 M, 0.45 M, and 0.60 M was reacted with AgNO3 aqueous solution. The products were characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), UV-Vis Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (DRS), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The concentration of KH2PO4 significantly affected the morphology, size, and crystallinity of catalyst. The morphology of Ag3PO4 may be tuned with the synthesis using an elevated concentration of KH2PO4. The sample with the synthesis using 0.15 M of KH2PO4 exhibited the excellent photocatalytic activity. The high photocatalytic activity was caused by the small size of mixed morphology of sphere and tetrahedron, high crystallinity and defect sites. Copyright © 2019 BCREC Group. All rights reserved

ABSTRACTA new kind of TiO2 film catalyst was prepared by the Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method. The surface photovoltaic spectroscopy (SPS) results showed that its photoresponse was extended into the visible region. Photooxidation experiments showed that this kind of TiO2 film had high photocatalytic activity on degradation of phenol in aqueous solution. The influence of the thickness of TiO2 film on its photocatalytic activity was also discussed.

AbstractWe have synthesized oxygen-doped graphite-like carbon nitride (g-C_3N_4) by the thermal treatment of the thiourea at 450–550°C. With an increase in the annealing temperature, the oxygen concentration in g-C_3N_4 increases, and the band-gap of the material decreases from 2.64 to 2.47 eV. The semiconductor properties of g-C_3N_4 doped with oxygen are confirmed by its high photocatalytic activity, determined by decoloration of a Rhodamine B aqueous solution in the presence of g-C_3N_4 upon irradiation with visible light.

SnS2 nanoparticles with perfectly crystalline morphology were synthesized via a molten salt synthesis route at a relatively low temperature. The resulting SnS2 nanoparcticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (UV-vis). The observations of FESEM images showed that the sample consists of a large number of aggregates assembled with numerous nanoparticles packed into compact texture. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared SnS2 samples was evaluated by the degradation of RhB aqueous solution. The effect of the molar ratio of thiourea to SnCl2 on the photocatalytic activity was also investigated, and the result showed that the as-prepared SnS2 sample has high photocatalytic activity efficiency in the degradation of RhB aqueous solution when the molar ratio of thiouea to SnCl2 was 3.
