AbstractRecently, there are significant progresses in the growth of organic-inorganic lead halide perovskite single crystals, however, due to their susceptible nucleation and growth mechanisms and solvent requirements, the efficient and generalized growth for these single crystals is still challenging. Here we report the work towards this target with a polymer-controlled nucleation process for the highly efficient growth of large-size high-quality simple ternary, mixed-cations and mixed-halide perovskite single crystals. Among them, the carrier lifetime of FAPbBr3 single crystals is largely improved to 10199 ns. Mixed MA/FAPbBr3 single crystals are synthesized. The crucial point in this process is suggested to be an appropriate coordinative interaction between polymer oxygen groups and Pb2+, greatly decreasing the nuclei concentrations by as much as 4 orders of magnitudes. This polymer-controlled route would help optimizing the solution-based OIHPs crystal growth and promoting applications of perovskite single crystals.

High resolution XANES measurements have been made at the CuK-absorption edge on two La 2-x Sr x CuO 4-y single crystals; one under-doped (x = 0.13) and the other over-doped (x = 0.19). These measurements have been made in E//ab and E//c directions at several temperatures to compare the doping, orientation and temperature dependence in their behaviour. Broadly speaking, their XANES spectra resemble the typical one from a crystal with square-planar geometry and the various fine structure features assigned to the possible transitions they arise due to, particularly in terms of the fact that the 4p band in Cu splits into 4p(π) and 4p(σ) components in these square-planar systems. However, the temperature dependence of the various features in the spectra from the two crystals appear to be opposite in nature and exhibit some characteristic temperatures at which the trend seems to reverse. All the experimental results and their implication are discussed and a possibility of phase transition of these systems at lower temperatures is hinted at.

Cesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted enormous interest in light-emitting diode, photodetector and low-threshold lasing application in terms of their unique optical and electrical performance. However, little attention has been paid to other structures associated with CsPbBr3, such as CsPb2Br5. Herein, we realize a facile method to prepare dual-phase NCs with improved stability against polar solvents by replacing conventional oleylamine with cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) in the reprecipitation process. The growth of NCs can be regulated with different ratios of toluene and ethanol depending on solvent polarity, which not only obtains NCs with different sizes and morphologies, but also controls phase transition between orthorhombic CsPbBr3 and tetragonal CsPb2Br5. The photoluminescence (PL) and defect density calculated exhibit considerable solvent polarity dependence, which is ascribed to solvent polarity affecting the ability of CTAB to passivate surface defects and improve stoichiometry in the system. This new synthetic method of perovskite material will be helpful for further studies in the field of lighting and detectors.
