The non-stoichiometric system Li0.8Ni0.6Sb0.4O2 is a Li-deficient derivative of the zigzag honeycomb antiferromagnet Li3Ni2SbO6. Structural and magnetic properties of Li0.8Ni0.6Sb0.4O2 were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, and nuclear magnetic resonance measurements. Powder X-ray diffraction data shows the formation of a new phase, which is Sb-enriched and Li-deficient with respect to the structurally honeycomb-ordered Li3Ni2SbO6. This structural modification manifests in a drastic change of the magnetic properties in comparison to the stoichiometric partner. Bulk static (dc) magnetic susceptibility measurements show an overall antiferromagnetic interaction (Θ = −4 K) between Ni2+ spins (S = 1), while dynamic (ac) susceptibility reveals a transition into a spin glass state at a freezing temperature TSG ~ 8 K. These results were supported by the absence of the λ-anomaly in the specific heat Cp(T) down to 2 K. Moreover, combination of the bulk static susceptibility, heat capacity and 7Li NMR studies indicates a complicated temperature transformation of the magnetic system. We observe a development of a cluster spin glass, where the Ising-like Ni2+ magnetic moments demonstrate a 2D correlated slow short-range dynamics already at 12 K, whereas the formation of 3D short range static ordered clusters occurs far below the spin-glass freezing temperature at T ~ 4 K as it can be seen from the 7Li NMR spectrum.

Ezetimibe, the antihyperlipidemic drug of poor bioavailability was complexed with native and derivatized cyclodextrins. The complexes were characterized in terms stability, stoichiometry and structure using various 1D and 2D solution NMR spectroscopic techniques. The complexes were found to be of moderate stability (logK[3). The least stable inclusion complex is formed with b-cyclodextrin, while the ezetimibe-methylated-b--cyclodextrin has a 7-fold higher stability. The results can be useful to improve the poor water-solubility and the concomitant bioavailability of ezetimibe.

The magnetic susceptibility measurements have been made on antiferromagnetic compounds Mn1–xFexSn2 and the magnetic phase diagram was illustrated. The high temperature magnetic phases I and III, major phases, were analyzed on the basis of molecular field theory and explained the change of magnetic structure I⇌III occured at x≈0.8.

We report on the synthesis and physical properties of cm-sized CoGeO3 single crystals grown in a high pressure mirror furnace at pressures of 80 bar. Direction dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements on our single crystals reveal highly anisotropic magnetic properties that we attribute to the impact of strong single ion anisotropy appearing in this system with TN∼33.5 K. Furthermore, we observe effective magnetic moments that are exceeding the spin only values of the Co ions, which reveals the presence of sizable orbital moments in CoGeO3.

We report the magnetic properties of EuxCa1-xB6 single crystals (0.756x1) studied in the wide range of temperatures (1.8-300 K) and magnetic fields (up to 50 kOe). It was found that low field magnetic susceptibility χ (T) follows the Curie-Weiss law χ~(T-Θp)-1 at high temperatures for all the concentrations studied. The effective magnetic moment of the Eu2+ ion estimated from the data diminishes from the free ion value μeff7.93μB (μB - Bohr magneton) for x=1 to μeff7.3μB for x=0.756. A universal behavior of magnetic susceptibility χ~(T-Θ)-α (α=1.5) is detected close to the Curie temperature TC in the paramagnetic state at both metallic (x>xC~0.8) and dielectric (xC.
