The paper presents computer program URwaga which operates measuring devices at the test stand. The program runs devices that communicate via RS232 interface and devices that are connected to a computer via USB. The obtained data are collected in a cumulative table and then exported to a spreadsheet. The program is applied in the studies on agriculture and mechanical engineering. The application cooperates with factory installations and an original measuring system on Arduino platform.

AbstractThe assumptions of instrumental methodology for measuring dynamic loads of knitted barrier meshes were defined. A test stand was built, original in terms of both mechanical construction and electronic measuring system, connected to a computer data analysis system. Maximum values of dynamic forces in the mesh fastening strings were determined. The correctness of the strain gauges construction and measurement data transmission systems was confirmed. Tests of multidirectional resistance to dynamic loads in the mesh fastening strings were carried out. The experiment involved dropping a ball with a mass of 5 kg and a diameter of 10 cm, from a height of 1 m and 2 m onto the mesh surface. The potential impact energy equaled Ep1 = 49.05 J and Ep2 = 98.1 J. The tests showed that the highest force values were observed for meshes with square-shaped a-jour structure, and for mesh with diamond-shaped a-jour geometry the force values were lower. A symmetrical forces distribution was observed in all the strings. The highest forces were recorded in the middle strings and the lowest in the outer ones. The conducted tests confirmed the correctness of the adopted constructional solutions of test stand for identification of dynamic stress distribution in mesh fastening strings. The developed method is a useful verification tool for numerical analysis of mechanical properties of barrier meshes.

Thermal analysis of a DC motor cooling system and description of measurement system applied to an engine test stand are the main topics of the paper. The motor that is being tested comes from the electric vehicle of Silesian Greenpower project whose aim is to design and build energy efficient bolids in order to participate in international races in Great Britain. During the designing process of the car, minimizing energy losses and maximizing powertrain efficiency are the main aspects taken into consideration. One of the crucial issues to accomplish these goals is to maintain optimal performance of the motor by applying effective cooling. The engine test stand used in this research was designed especially for Silesian Greenpower vehicles. Thanks to its modular construction and versatility, it enables measuring many different parameters of the motor and powertrain. In this paper the thermal analysis is described as well as how the measuring system of the engine stand works. The thermal analysis described in the article occurred to be very helpful in improving the cooling system and motor performance in the same time. The advanced measuring and control system of the test stand enables conducting versatile analysis of the DC motor and the powertrain.

It is important to monitoring the fine particles (PM2.5) in atmosphere as it threatens the public health all over the world. But the existing concentration measuring devices have shortcomings in speed and range. A novel fine particle concentration measuring system based on the ultrasonic attenuation was designed in this paper, which could help to solve the problem. Firstly the mechanism of ultrasonic attenuation in dust cloud was studied to verify the relationship between the concentration and the ultrasonic attenuation. Then the novel concentration measuring system was designed. The micro ultrasonic transducer array was introduced into the system, so the system can be sensitive as well as small. Finally, experiment was conducted to check the performance of this measuring system, and the results show that it could realize measurement quickly.

We present a proposal for evaluating and qualifying pH measuring devices based on the requirements of relevant standards. The proposal presented is based on ASTM E70, NBR 7353, JIS Z 8805, BS 3145, DIN 19268, NBR ISO 17025 and other standards, as well as the results of field research carried out in conjunction with professionals performing pH measurements in public health laboratories. Evaluation is performed by inspection of a form which records data from the measuring system. The form gives acceptable variations in the parameters being tested and allows a conclusion to be reached regarding acceptability of the system. Using the proposed protocol allows definition of suitable analysis criteria, while taking into account the influence pH measurement is subject and the need for correct results. This is particularly true when analyzing products already on the market, thus underlining the protocol's importance to the public health area.

For the developement of bio-PIXE, two problems remain to be solved; one in accelerator availability and the other in data analysis. To improve the former, a method of applying baby cyclotrons to PIXE has been developed. To solve the latter, the computer program SAPIX for x-ray spectrum analysis ,which runs on ordinary personal computers and is fairly easy to operate has been developed. Examples of spectral fitting by the SAPIX and a description of the program are given. Further, the two-detector measuring system which we have employed for the simultaneous determination of all elements is reported.

Three consequences based on the basic law of the flat interlocking have been determined that allow the generation of asymmetric tooth profile on different poloidal circles. Gears with asymmetric profile are used in both mechanical engineering and measuring devices. Qualitative indicators of engagement that cannot be accomplished with a symmetric profile have been developed. A specific example of generation III has been presented. The qualitative indicators of engagement, which are invariant to the parameters of the tool, have been improved.

An agent-based wellness indicator is an information visualization system designed to present wellness and decision-support information to individuals and their caregivers by elaborating the data provided by measuring devices utilizing the unique characteristics of software agents. The wellness indicator is constructed from an operational wellness model we developed. The model allows an automatic measuring system to calculate the wellness level for a number of indicators resulting in an overall wellness level. These results can be presented in a simple graphical format. The software has been evaluated by following the steps provided in the framework for testing a wellness visualization system. The evaluation is carried out by both general users and healthcare professionals. The results show positive feedback on various aspects of the indicator; and confirm that the wellness indicator can assist people to have a better understanding of their personal state of well-being and can support caregivers in delivering their services.
