Urban acoustic environment, especially noise pollution, is a product of rapid urban development and urban scale expansion. It is one of the urgent environment problems in current urban planning and governance. This study analyzes the spatiotemporal changes of acoustic environment in the functional areas of cities above prefectural level based on the geographical perspective in China. The results shows that the higher urban level is, the more active acoustic environment in the functional areas will be; otherwise, the quieter it will be. The spatial variation of the acoustic environment in the functional areas in the east is generally higher than in the west, and the coastal areas is higher than interior during day and night, which is generally consistent with the spatial distribution characteristics of China's social and economic development. The influence factors of urban acoustic environment are multiple, the development of urban social economy has a significant influence on urban acoustic environment, and the factors like environmental protection consciousness of residents, environmental governance level of the city have a significant influence on urban acoustic environment. Therefore, the governance measures of urban acoustic environment should be more diversified.

The development potential of any enterprise is due to its economic security. Support for economic security should be implemented with the help of reliable tools for monitoring and evaluating the efficiency level of its system mechanisms. Ensuring economic security will be as stable as possible if the reference points that indicate the optimal trajectory of business processes control are able to take into account all significant influence factors. Such reference points are indicators for evaluating business operations and economic security. It is important for the indicator to have in its structure all the significant influence factors. The criteria of business processes functioning efficiency used as such reference points have been analyzed in the paper. Main universal influence factors that have to be present in the business process and economic security assessment indicator expression are identified. The definitions of a business process are analyzed, the key characteristics of the definitions are identified, and the author's vision of the essence of the concept is proposed in the light of the prospects for further research.

Research on order quantity plays an important role in logistics and supply chain (SC) whether for traditional economy objective or for low carbon objective. The paper summarizes the research framework of economic order quantity (EOQ) in brief. It also introduces and reviews the new research field carbon footprint order quantity (COQ). Comparing with the research of EOQ, it finds that the research on COQ is just beginning and the research assumptions still remain at the case of the “Square Root” era of EOQ a century ago. Based on some related literatures, the paper analyzes the effect of low carbon on social economy especially some influence factors related to order quantity. And it refers some important market forces affected by low carbon that are ignored by the literatures of COQ currently. Then the paper purposes the basic research approach of COQ. Finally, it provides several important topics of COQ for further research.

Individual recognition based on skeletal sequence is a challenging computer vision task with multiple important applications, such as public security, human–computer interaction, and surveillance. However, much of the existing work usually fails to provide any explicit quantitative differences between different individuals. In this paper, we propose a novel 3D spatio-temporal geometric feature representation of locomotion on Riemannian manifold, which explicitly reveals the intrinsic differences between individuals. To this end, we construct mean sequence by aligning related motion sequences on the Riemannian manifold. The differences in respect to this mean sequence are modeled as spatial state descriptors. Subsequently, a temporal hierarchy of covariance are imposed on the state descriptors, making it a higher-order statistical spatio-temporal feature representation, showing unique biometric characteristics for individuals. Finally, we introduce a kernel metric learning method to improve the classification accuracy. We evaluated our method on two public databases: the CMU Mocap database and the UPCV Gait database. Furthermore, we also constructed a new database for evaluating running and analyzing two major influence factors of walking. As a result, the proposed approach achieves promising results in all experiments.

Noise pollution is one of the growing issues in our cities. Every day the streets are full of vehicles of all kinds and works using noisy machinery; it seems difficult to find a quiet area that away from this acoustic environment. Presently, multiple studies are being carried out in the area of engineering in order to be able to attenuate the causes of this noise pollution, in order to improve citizens’ lives. Nevertheless, are cars the only cause of the noise in the city? Are there other noise sources that may affect the quality of life of the citizens? What defines a city as heavily polluted or not? Maybe it can be assumed that truck noise is annoying and that it contributes to noise pollution, while the sound of birds does not and it is pleasant for people. This paper pretends to analyze the physical parameters that allow us to define if any sound causes annoyance, taking into account its acoustic environment. To do this, a specific case will be analysed; we will study three locations measured in Andorra La Vella and Escaldes-Engordany. The audio recordings will be studied deeply, and compared one to the other using data from two different days and all day schedule. We will finally evaluate the annoyance of each location using parameters such as loudness, sharpness and roughness, and taking into account both day and time, as well as giving details about the several types of sound labelled in each recording.

Rear-end collision accounts for the main type of traffic accidents occurring on the freeway. In order to extract the significant influence factors of rear-end collision on the freeway, this study utilized the data of freeway traffic accidents between 2010 and 2015 in China. First, based on quasi-induced exposure theory, the information of driver, vehicle, and road environment was analyzed. Gender, age, driving age, vehicle safety, load, weather, fatigue, driving speed, road alignment, accident time, and visibility were selected as the important factors that might affect rear-end collision. Second, based on logistic regression model, the influencing factors analysis model of freeway rear-end collision was established. In the regression analysis, the possible important factors selected were taken as the independent variables, and the accident responsibility was taken as the dependent variable. Then, the factors that had significant influence on rear-end collision were selected from candidate independent variables by stepwise regression method. Finally, the specific influence of driving age, load, weather, accident time, visibility, fatigue, and driving speed on rear-end collision occurring on the freeway was discussed. The analysis results were explained according to the odds ratio. The research results of this article can provide guidance for the prevention of rear-end collision on the freeway and theoretical support for the development of freeway early warning system.

To assess environmental feasibility of integrated circuit industry and predict it’s influence on air and acoustic emvironment, the current situations and impact assesment on air and sound environment were done. Survey on air pollution sources indicated that smoke dust was the main exhaust pollutants accounting for 88.5% of the total and SO2 was the second. Current situation of monitoring shows that all measured items can satisfy the requirements of the standards except the daily average concentration of PM10. Gas pollutants in waste gases can be removed 85~ 95% after purified. Noises on proposed project area during night and day are all accord with the third or fourth class standards of 《Standard of Environmental Noise of Urban Area》. Noises in the project can meet level Ⅲ standards of 《Standard of Noise at Boundary of Industrial Enterprises》. So this project has little influence on surrounding air and sound environment. Therefore on the condition of adopting corresponding treatment measures, this project is feasible on aspects of air and sound environment.

AbstractIn the guidelines about the management of areas of good environmental noise quality recently published by the European Environment Agency (EEA) it is suggested to combine different methodologies, like noise mapping, sound level measurements and the soundscape approach. Such a recommendation has started to be recognised by a number of local authorities in Europe that are gradually integrating a holistic concept into their environmental noise policies. This research aimed to explore and demonstrate the possibility to integrate conventional noise mapping methods and soundscape methods in an actual urban redevelopment project. A case study was made using the Valley Gardens project in Brighton & Hove (UK). Different scenarios of sound-pressure level distributionswere simulated for both traffic sound sources (i.e. noise maps) and natural sound sources (i.e. sound maps). Additionally, individual responses about the sound environment of the place collected during an on-site question survey were used to implement soundscape maps. The overall picture revealed that the road traffic noise should be reduced, but also it is feasible that preferred sounds likewater features or birdsong could be introduced to make the sound environment more appropriate for the place. Generally, within the framework of this research, noise maps, sound maps and soundscape maps were used together to "triangulate" different layers of information related to the acoustic environment and the way it is perceived, providing a possible working procedure to consider for planners and policy-makers in the future.

Sound barriers are widely used as an important engineering measure to mitigate traffic noise pollution in urban elevated roads. However, structure design codes on sound barrier used in urban viaduct is empty, which is a key reason for the short service life of sound barrier. Numerical simulation of characteristics of running cars induced wind loads on sound barrier of elevated roads is carried out based on the method of computational fluid dynamics. The changing course of wind loads on the surface of sound barrier is reappeared in the process of cars passing by the sound barrier. The distribution rule of wind loads on the surface of sound barrier at different space positions is revealed. Influence factors of wind loads on surface of sound barrier are discussed by parameter analysis. The conclusions shows that running cars induced wind loads on sound barrier of elevated roads should considered as one main design loads, especially for the anti-fatigue design of steel columns of plate-inserted sound barrier.

The reasons why animal populations decline in response to anthropogenic noise are still poorly understood. To understand how populations are affected by noise, we must understand how individuals are affected by noise. By modifying the acoustic environment experimentally, we studied the potential relationship between noise levels and both spatial and singing behaviour in the European robin ( Erithacus rubecula ). We found that with increasing noise levels, males were more likely to move away from the noise source and changed their singing behaviour. Our results provide the first experimental evidence in a free ranging species, that not merely the presence of noise causes changes in behaviour and distribution, but that the level of noise pollution plays a crucial role as well. Our results have important implications for estimating the impact of infrastructure which differs in the level of noise produced. Thus, governmental planning bodies should not only consider the physical effect on the landscape when assessing the impact of new infrastructure, but also the noise levels emitted, which may reduce the loss of suitable habitats available for animals.
