Abstract For four wide classes of topological rings R \mathfrak{R} , we show that all flat left R \mathfrak{R} -contramodules have projective covers if and only if all flat left R \mathfrak{R} -contramodules are projective if and only if all left R \mathfrak{R} -contramodules have projective covers if and only if all descending chains of cyclic discrete right R \mathfrak{R} -modules terminate if and only if all the discrete quotient rings of R \mathfrak{R} are left perfect. Three classes of topological rings for which this holds are the complete, separated topological associative rings with a base of neighborhoods of zero formed by open two-sided ideals such that either the ring is commutative, or it has a countable base of neighborhoods of zero, or it has only a finite number of semisimple discrete quotient rings. The fourth class consists of all the topological rings with a base of neighborhoods of zero formed by open right ideals which have a closed two-sided ideal with certain properties such that the quotient ring is a topological product of rings from the previous three classes. The key technique on which the proofs are based is the contramodule Nakayama lemma for topologically T-nilpotent ideals.

Coronaviruses (CoVs) are viruses of zoonotic origin, transmitted from person to person mainly via the respiratory tract. Seven types of CoVs have succeeded in making the leap from animals to humans. Among them, four produce the common cold, while the other three, more recently emerged CoVs, cause the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and exhibit a high epidemic/pandemic potential: SARS-CoV, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2. The new SARS-CoV-2 is the etiological agent of the current and unprecedented pandemic, associated with a unique pathology named Corona-virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). These viruses belong to the Coronaviridae family - classified by ICTV (International Committee for Taxonomy of Viruses) in the fourth Class, that of enveloped viruses with a positive-strand RNA genome, infectious for both birds and mammals. As an airborne pathogen, its high infectivity is intensified by the widespread expression of its specific entry receptors (ACE-2, TMPRSS2) in various human organs and tissues, SARS-CoV-2 has spread rapidly from China throughout the whole world, causing numerous infections (approximately 128 million), with a relatively high lethality (approximately 2.8 million). The particular feature of the severe evolution of the SARS-CoV-2 infection is its association with Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS), mainly in older patients or those with comorbidities. In the absence of a standard therapeutic protocol, the medical systems worldwide have been challenged to continuously improve the COVID-19 treatment, based on emerging data from rapidly initiated clinical trials. At the same time, specialists in virology, immunology, and vaccinology have collaborated at an unprecedented pace to design and implement effective SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. In this review we highlight the most important advances made in understanding the characteristics of SARS-CoV-2, including the viral replication cycle, as well as COVID-19 pathogenesis, immune responses mounted by the host following natural infection (with various forms, from moderate to severe and lethal ones) and vaccines.

Development and research of functionally-adequate target mechanisms of technological machines of light industry with application of applied CAE-programs. Used the apparatus of vector algebra; analytical and numerical methods for determining the position functions of planar mechanisms containing a structural group of the fourth class of the second order, based on the vector transformation of coordinates; random search method for metric synthesis of flat mechanisms; methods of computer visualization and animation of kinematic schemes of flat mechanisms of higher classes. Mathematical models describing the position functions of the mechanism of eyelets of a warp knitting machine containing a structural group of the fourth class of the second order with rotating kinematic pairs in the form of angles of moving links, free vectors constructed on these links and radius vectors of characteristic points of the mechanism as a function of the angle of rotation of the master crank. The geometrical parameters of the flat six-link mechanism of eyelets for the warp knitting machine containing the structural group of the fourth class of the second order with rotating kinematic pairs as a result of metric synthesis of the mechanism by random search in CAE-program are determined; computer circuit modeling of the obtained mechanism is performed; graphs of visualization and animation of the kinematic scheme of the received mechanism are constructed; identification of the kinematic scheme of the obtained mechanism for compliance with the accepted structure; the received graph of function of position of an auricular needle of the mechanism of the fourth class; the functions of the position of the eye needle of the new mechanism and the mechanism of the basic knitting machine OV-7 are compared. The structure of a flat six-link mechanism, containing structural groups of the fourth class of the second order with rotating kinematic pairs, is proposed for use as a drive in a warp knitting machine on the example of the mechanism of oscillating movement of eyelets. The geometric dimensions of the moving parts of the functionally adequate mechanism of the fourth class for the drive of the eye needles of the basic knitting machine are determined. Software blocks for automated computer metric synthesis and calculation of link angles and radius vectors of characteristic points of the mechanism in the CAE program have been created. Practical Value is to use the results for the design and construction of flat mechanisms of the fourth class with rotating kinematic pairs of warp knitting machines, in which the working bodies make stops during the work process.

Bedsores are one of the severe problems which could affect a long-term lying subject in the hospitals or the hospice. To prevent lying bedsores, we present a smart Internet of Things (IoT) system for detecting the position of a lying person using novel textile pressure sensors. To build such a system, it is necessary to use different technologies and techniques. We used sixty-four of our novel textile pressure sensors based on electrically conductive yarn and the Velostat to collect the information about the pressure distribution of the lying person. Using Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) protocol and Arduino-based hardware, we send measured data to the server. On the server side, there is a Node-RED application responsible for data collection, evaluation, and provisioning. We are using a neural network to classify the subject lying posture on the separate device because of the computation complexity. We created the challenging dataset from the observation of twenty-one people in four lying positions. We achieved a best classification precision of 92% for fourth class (right side posture type). On the other hand, the best recall (91%) for first class (supine posture type) was obtained. The best F1 score (84%) was achieved for first class (supine posture type). After the classification, we send the information to the staff desktop application. The application reminds employees when it is necessary to change the lying position of individual subjects and thus prevent bedsores.

Abstract Riboswitches are RNAs that specifically sense a small molecule and regulate genes accordingly. The recent discovery of guanidine-binding riboswitches revealed the biological significance of this compound, and uncovered genes related to its biology. For example, certain sugE genes encode guanidine exporters and are activated by the riboswitches to reduce toxic levels of guanidine in the cell. In order to study guanidine biology and riboswitches, we applied a bioinformatics strategy for discovering additional guanidine riboswitches by searching for new candidate motifs associated with sugE genes. Based on in vitro and in vivo experiments, we determined that one of our six best candidates is a new structural class of guanidine riboswitches. The expression of a genetic reporter was induced 80-fold in response to addition of 5 mM guanidine in Staphylococcus aureus. This new class, called the guanidine-IV riboswitch, reveals additional guanidine-associated protein domains that are extremely rarely or never associated with previously established guanidine riboswitches. Among these protein domains are two transporter families that are structurally distinct from SugE, and could represent novel types of guanidine exporters. These results establish a new metabolite-binding RNA, further validate a bioinformatics method for finding riboswitches and suggest substrate specificities for as-yet uncharacterized transporter proteins.
