While tourism has become a strategic pillar industry, adding vitality to regional development, ecological and environmental problems have become increasingly prominent. Based on the evaluation index system of ecological environment and tourism development, the paper takes Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as an example and uses entropy weighting method to reduce the dimension of the original data. Then, the coupled coordination model is used to compare and analyse the comprehensive development index of the two systems from 2009 to 2018, as well as the development level of the coupling coordination degree between the systems. The results are as follows: (1) Ecological environment and tourism development are interrelated and mutually restricted, with positive and negative feedback. (2) The comprehensive development level of ecological environment system and tourism development system is generally on the rise. The coupling degree fluctuates between the two systems, but the coordination degree and the comprehensive development index show a trend of steady growth on the whole, which accords with the characteristics of high coupling and not high coordination. (3) Finally, according to the development of the coupled coordination model, some suggestions on future ecological environment and tourism development are put forward.

Firstly, this article uses the Entropy method to calculate the weights of economic development and ecological environment indicators in the eastern urban agglomeration of Qinghai Province from 2005 to 2019. Secondly, this article uses the calculated weights and linear weighting functions to construct evaluation models for economic development and ecological environment development, respectively. The results show that the comprehensive development level of the economic development in the eastern urban agglomeration of Qinghai Province cities is gradually rising, and the comprehensive development level of the ecological environment fluctuates slightly but the overall development trend is increasing. Then, using the Environmental-Economic Coordination degree evaluation model, quantitative analysis and evaluation of the Environmental-Economic system coordination degree, it is found that the coordinated development of the economic and ecological environment of the eastern urban agglomeration in Qinghai Province is relatively well. Finally, it analysis and proposes countermeasures and suggestions to promote the coordinated development of the economic and environmental system of the eastern urban agglomeration in Qinghai Province.

Correctly understanding and handling the relationships in the tea industry–tourism–ecological environment system is a prerequisite and foundation for the high-quality and sustainable development of the tea tourism industry. In this study, an evaluation index system of the tea industry–tourism–ecological environment system is established, the weight coefficient of each indicator is determined by the entropy weight method, and the coupling coordination degrees of Fujian Province and nine cities therein are evaluated by constructing a coupling coordination model from 2011 to 2019. The results indicate that the comprehensive development index of the tea industry–tourism–ecological environment system had an overall upward trend from 2011 to 2019, and the coupling coordination degree of the three systems changed from moderate maladjustment to high-quality coordination. There was spatial heterogeneity in the comprehensive development indices and coupling coordination degrees of the three systems, when considering the nine cities of Fujian Province. This study offers both theoretical and practical implications for further improving the development level and overall coordination between the tea industry, tourism, and the ecological environment in Fujian province.

Determining the coupling development mode and evolution process of the tourism industry–urbanization–ecological environment system is of great significance in promoting high-quality and sustainable development of tourism and the urban economy. In this study, an evaluation index system of the tourism–urbanization–ecological environment system was established, and the spatiotemporal differentiation of the coupling and coordination relationship of the tourism–urbanization–ecological environment system was analyzed for 35 major tourist cities in China from 2009 to 2018. The results show that the comprehensive development indices of the tourism industry subsystem and urbanization subsystem of China’s major tourist cities have steadily increased. The comprehensive development indices of large-sized and medium-sized cities in the east are relatively high. From 2009 to 2018, the coordination degree and coupling degree of the tourism–urbanization–ecological environment’’ system of 35 tourist cities showed an upward trend. The growth rate of the coupling coordination degree lags behind the growth rate of the coupling degree, and the overall system coordination level is still low. There are significant differences in the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree among the eastern, central, and western cities. This study offers both theoretical and practical implications for further equalizing the development level between the cities, as well as improving the overall coordination between the tourism industry, urbanization, and the ecological environment in China.

In order to achieve the sustainable utilization of water resources and the sustainable development of the economy, an evaluation index system for water-use efficiency and economic development systems was constructed. The entropy weight and the comprehensive evaluation methods were adopted to determine the index weights and conduct a comprehensive evaluation for the two systems. A coupling coordination model was used to calculate the coupling degree, coordination degree, and coupling coordination degree of the two systems. The annual coupling stage and coupling coordination intensity of the two systems were analyzed and determined. The results showed that the comprehensive evaluation values of both the water-use efficiency system and the economic development system in Jinan increased greatly from 2008 to 2017, and showed a changing trend of ups and downs. The two systems were in the antagonistic stage, and were gradually approaching the running-in stage, indicating that they were in the state of common development. The coupling coordination degree of the two systems gradually increased in waves, progressing from moderately to highly coordinated coupling. In the future, if the water control path appropriate to Jinan can be explored actively, the water-saving kinetic energy of economic development can be increased constantly, and the linkage effect between economic development and water resource utilization can be given full play. The two systems will then be in sync, enjoying a benign interaction and a healthy harmonious development.

Energy, economy and ecological environment complement each other. The coupling and coordination development of them would provide basis for the rational use of energy, economic development, and the protection and restoration of the ecological environment. In this study, the coupling and coordination development of the Australian energy, economy, and ecological environment from 2007 to 2016 were quantitatively investigated by constructing a coupling coordination model based on coupling theory. Results showed that: (1) Australia’s comprehensive evaluation index of energy, economy, and ecological environment exhibited an increasing trend. The rising trend of the energy index was obvious, the economy was relatively stable, and the comprehensive evaluation index of the ecological environment strongly fluctuated. (2) The development of energy and the economy, and that of energy and the ecological environment were gradually coordinated, and many unbalanced development patterns were found between the economy and the ecological environment. (3) Four types of coordination were observed in the three subsystems, among them, the barely coordinated categories repeated most often and the coordination degree of the three subsystems tended to grow from the global perspective. Energy, economy, and ecological environment interacted, limited, and promoted one another to form a complex system, through proper coordination, these three subsystems can jointly promote the sustainable development of society in Australia.

The results show that the comprehensive development degree (CDD) of the tourism-air environment system mainly maintains stable with fluctuation and the gap among different reaches in the Zone is declining; the coupling coordination degree’s (CCD) tendency in most regions remains similar as in the previous decade. The results illustrate that the method combing information entropy weight and the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (IEW-TOPSIS), coupling coordination degree model (CCDM), and gray GM (1, 1) prediction model is effective in evaluating the coupling coordination relationship between the subsystems of tourism and air environment and in proposing specific countermeasures for tourism development and air environment governance.

With the aid of grey correlation theory and technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), this paper sets up a multi-dimensional evaluation index system (EIS) for the comprehensive development level (CDL) of China’s higher education, and quantifies the state of collaborative development in 2005-2017 with an improved distance collaboration model. The results show that: Being the premises and bases of higher education, the supply subsystem develops much slower than the other subsystems (i.e. participation, output, and environment), and clearly pulls the development of the other subsystems. From 2012 onwards, the subsystems conformed to basically the same trend for the degree of collaboration: the degree of collaboration tended to be stable. There was even a slight dent in overall degree of collaboration between 2012 and 2016. Hence, the overall degree of collaborative development was far slower than the overall degree of development. After more than a decade of development, the degree of development, degree of collaboration, and degree of collaborative development reached basically the same level in 2017. The empirical results shed new lights on the focal points of higher education development in China.

Taking Wuhu City of Anhui Province as an example, this paper constructs two evaluation index systems of tourism industry and regional economic development respectively, and studies the coupling coordination situation and influencing factors of Wuhu City from 2015 to 2019 by using the coupling coordination degree model. The research shows that the comprehensive development level of Wuhu tourism industry and regional economy system has been steadily improved year by year in the past five years. Coupling degree C showed an up-down trend, but was generally at a high level. The comprehensive development level T of the two systems is also in an increasing trend. By 2019, the coupling coordination degree of the tourism-industry system in Wuhu has been upgraded from good coordination to high quality coordination. In the future development process, Wuhu City should continue to promote GDP growth on the basis of the current good development situation, and realize the win-win situation between tourism and regional economic development.

The 14th Five-Year Plan of China proposes promoting urbanization construction, with counties as an important carrier. In order to evaluate the urbanization development level of counties in Western China, this study established an index system of population, land, and industry, constructed the coupling coordination model, selected Shaanxi Province as a representative case, and evaluated the comprehensive development level and its coordination degree of urbanization at the county level. The results show that: (1) there are two stages of urbanization in Western counties, namely “increment” and “quality improvement”; (2) county urbanization in Western China radiates from central cities, presenting the characteristics of a “core-edge” circle structure. Northern Shaanxi has significant spatial difference characteristics, the coordination and development level of the Guanzhong area are both in the lead, and Southern Shaanxi is still in the stage of weak level coordination; (3) unlike urbanization in metropolises, urbanization in Western counties is mainly driven by industrial agglomeration instead of land urbanization. However, population outflow is an obstacle to the urbanization of Western counties. The evaluation of the coordinated development of county urbanization can provide a theoretical basis and practical path for enhancing public service functions in counties, guiding urban–rural harmonious development.
