Banten Bay is an area affected by industrial, shipping, and domestic activities. These have the potential to produce wastes in the form of heavy metals and can accumulate in the body of aquatic organisms such as the splendid ponyfish Eubleekeria splendens (Cuvier, 1829). This study aimed to determine the accumulation of heavy metals Hg, Cd, Pb, and Cu in splendid ponyfish Eubleekeria splendens (Cuvier, 1829) meat in Banten Bay, Serang Regency, Banten Province. Sampling was carried out for three months, from August to October 2020. Analysis of heavy metal content was carried out using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer). The content of heavy metals Hg, Cd, Pb, and Cu in splendid ponyfish meat were <0.030 mg/kg, <0.001 mg/kg, <0.005 mg/kg, and 0.224-0.437 mg/kg. Bioaccumulation of heavy metals Hg, Cd, Pb, and Cu in small and big splendid ponyfish meat has a low accumulation rate. During the observation period, the heavy metal content of Hg, Cd, Pb, and Cu in small and big splendid ponyfish meat was not significantly different.

The environmental effects of mining and its impact on natural resources are of a holistic nature. One of the modern methods employed for the remediation of technogenically disturbed soils is the application of microorganisms. This paper studies the impact made by soil microorganisms on the accumulation rate of heavy metals in the substrate of waste rock dumps in the process of soil reclamation. Suspensions of soil microorganisms (microorganisms utilising mineral nitrogen forms / MUMN; microorganisms decomposing silicates / MDS; microscopic fungi / MF) were applied to the rock dump surface. Separate groups as well as their combinations were applied. The heavy metal content analysis did not indicate a significant exceedance of the maximum allowable concentration limits (MACL) in the soil of the waste rock. The only metal whose content exceeded the maximum admissible concentration limits was nickel. It has found that the application of microorganisms influences the concentration of several heavy metals due to pH level changes of the rock dump soil.

In this study, heavy metal content (Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Zn) was determined in soils and different organs of Verbascum olympicum Boiss. This species is endemic to Uludağ and spreads on destroyed areas such as: roadsides, developed building areas, ski lift stations and sheep folds. Soils and different organs (roots, stems, leaves and flowers) of plant samples were analyzed using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer for determining the element content. Heavy metal contents in soils and different organs in this species were highly correlated (P < 0.05). However, the contribution of plant organs to the accumulation capacity varied according to the metal. These results suggest that this species may be useful as a bioindicator for heavy metals.

Heavy metal pollution is one of the problems that often occurs in Indonesian coastal waters. Comparative methods of looking at heavy metal content in coastal sediments include a way to show similarities and differences between one or more articles by using certain criteria. Different comparison methods to see the heavy metal content in sediments include the AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer) method, AAN (Netron Activation Analysis), Regression, and USEPA methods. Based on the comparison of 2 methods, namely: AAS and AAN methods, the most efficient in analyzing heavy metals in sediments in coastal areas is the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method compared to the Neutron Activation Analysis (AAS) method.Keywords:CoastalSedimentHeavy MetalSpectrophotometer

Human activities around the estuary of the Manggar river in Balikpapan produce waste disposal and cause heavy metal contamination such as lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) in water bodies. The contaminant can endanger the life of aquatic organisms. It can also occurs heavy metal bioaccumulation in the body of the aquatic organisms. The results show that the heavy metal content of Pb and Cd in water, sediment and water biota indicated that the estuary of the Manggar River was contaminated by heavy metals. The content of Pb and Cd in water is 0.276 mg/l and 0.020 mg/l, in sediments is 24.7 mg/kg and 4.52 mg/kg, and in the biota is 4.20 mg/kg and 0.80 mg/kg. This means that fish and shells taken from the waters around the estuary of the Manggar River are not safe for consumption because they can interfere the human health.

In order to find out the variations of soil heavy metal contents in Mengcheng, the heavy metal of the soil was tested in the same way in 2010, based on the survey results of 2001. The results showed that the contents of the 8 kinds of heavy metal in Mengcheng County were lower than those of the national standard, but the heavy metal content of Mengcheng County in 2010 were significantly higher than those in 2001, especially Pb, and the content of Hg, Ni, As also increased greatly; The increased of changing rate of various heavy metals contents are in the following descending order: Pb> Hg> Ni> As> Cu> Cd> Cr> Zn. The uneven dispersion of various heavy metals element in different sections of Mengcheng County also increased.

Работа посвящена изучению возможных связей между содержанием тяжелых металлов в организме и кариологическими показателями клеток буккального эпителия. Обследовали детей, проживающих в районе расположения вольфрамо-молибденового комбината. Несмотря на повышенное содержание тяжелых металлов в объектах окружающей среды, их накопления в организме детей не выявлено. Обнаружены достоверные корреляции между содержанием марганца, цинка и меди в волосах с показателями клеточной пролиферации. We studied possible relations between heavy metal content and cytogenetic characteristics of exfoliated buccal cells. To this end, we examined children living in the area where the tungsten-molybdenum plant is located. Despite the increased content of heavy metals in environmental objects, their accumulation in the hair of children was not detected. Significant correlations were found between the content of manganese, zinc and copper in the hair with the indicators of cell proliferation.

This study involved the investigation of heavy metal contents of 100 refined and an equal numberof bakery refined table salt samples collected from the local markets of Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala,Pakistan. Levels of lead, copper, cadmium and iron were estimated using an atomic absorption spectro-photometer. The results indicated a mean ± SD in µg/g levels in the refined table salt samples for lead(0.85±0.22), copper (1.37±0.25), cadmium (0.41±32) and iron (7.72±2.1). For bakery refined table saltsvalues for same metals ranged 1.61±0.51, 2.07±1.2, 0.71±0.21 and 12.6±5.1, respectively. Obtained resultswere compared with the maximum limits recommendations for human consumption set by CodexAlimentarius Commission.

This study aims to determine the levels of heavy metals (Cd) and (Pb) in shellfishes and mangroves at Bima bay. The results showed that bivalves and mangrove tissue were analyzed for heavy metal content in the form of lead (Pb), and Cadmium (Cd) using an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer.  From tissue analysis, it indicates that the content of heavy metals lead (Pb) in 3 species of Shellfish which showed different results; Blood shells (Anadaragranosa) of 0.756 ppm, Hiatula shells (Hiatula chinensis) 1.59 ppm, and Shells (Siliqua winteriana) 1.171 ppm. Cadmium (Cd) metals in Shells are each found; Cockle shell (Anadara granosa) of 0.802 ppm, Hiatula shells (Hiatula chinensis) 0.334 ppm and Shells (Siliqua winteriana) 0.066 ppm. The content of lead metal (Pb) in the tissue of small mangrove leaves (Ryzophora apiculata) is 3.21 ppm and the mangrove leaves (Sonnerati aalba) is 3.74 ppm. For Cd levels in small mangrove leaves (Ryzophora apiculata) is 0.41 ppm while in mangrove leaves (Sonneratia alba) is 0.24 ppm

<p>ABSTRACT<br />Objective: Leucas aspera (Willd.) Linn. is a herbaceous annual distributed throughout India from the Himalayas down to Ceylon. This study was aimed<br />to investigate the pharmacognostical, phytochemical characteristics, and heavy metal content of the aerial parts of L. aspera.<br />Methods: The aerial parts of the plant were subjected to macroscopical and microscopical characterization, followed by physicochemical evaluations<br />using standardized procedures. Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) of the dried plant powder was done to determine the metal and mineral<br />content. Preliminary phytochemical screening and metabolite analysis of the hydroalcoholic extract of L. aspera (HAELA) were also performed to<br />analyze the various phytoconstituents.<br />Results: In this study, the microscopic characteristics of L. aspera were found to be consistent with earlier reports. The total ash value was relatively<br />high (11.5% w/w). Alcohol soluble and water-soluble extractive values were found to be 6.5% and 9%, respectively. AAS indicated the plant to<br />contain insignificant quantities of heavy metals and considerable amounts of copper, sodium, potassium, and iron. Phytochemical analysis revealed<br />the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, lignins, phenols, saponins, sterols, and tannins in HAELA.<br />Conclusion: The pharmacognosy - anatomical, physicochemical, heavy metal characteristics, and the preliminary phytochemical studies of the aerial<br />parts of L. aspera have revealed the presence of phytoconstituents such as triterpenoids, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and glycosides; insignificant<br />quantities of heavy metals and significant content of phenolics and tannins in the plant.<br />Keywords: Leucas aspera, Ash value, Heavy metal content, Atomic absorption spectroscopy.</p>

The purpose of this study was to determine the Pb and Cd heavy metal content in sediments and their relationship with marine biota in Tulehu waters. The method used in the study was a survey by sampling at three research stations based on the representation of different characteristics at the study site. Station 1 at Tulehu Port 1 (non-operating and anthropogenic ship docker), Station 2 Tulehu Port 2 (ferry port) and Station 3 at Muara Sungai along Tulehu waters. The heavy metal content of Pb and Cd was measured using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy). The heavy metal content of Pb and Cd has a effect on abundance and diversity of marine biota in Tulehu waters. This is evidenced by the Pb regression of marine biota abundance and diversity with values ​​r = 0,894 and Cd = 0.895. Increased content of heavy metals in sediments was followed by a decrease in the diversity of marine life in Tulehu waters.
