Through additional processing of the modern movement parameter recorders data of the DC electric locomotive 2ES6 the article first presents the results of the actual consumption of electricity for own needs and the proportion of these costs from the consumption of trains traction is determined, which in terms of operational depot is difficult to implement. The estimation of influencing factors on the energy consumption for own needs of 2ES6 series electric locomotives is made. As a result it was found that the internal energy consumption is influenced by such factors as rolling stock mass, axle load and environment temperature. Statistic models were made to normalize internal electricity consumption and their quality estimation was fulfilled. It is found that the remainders of the multiple regression equation, which take the above factors into account, obey the normal distribution law, indicating the adequacy of their further use to assess the energy efficiency of the 2ES6 series DC electric locomotives auxiliary equipment. The use of regression models will allow to identify electric locomotives with auxiliary equipment with low energy efficiency and to send them to unscheduled repairs in time to restore the required technical condition.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES. Energy efficiency and energy saving are the priority direction of science, technology and engineering development in Ukraine. The policy of energy saving, carried out all over the world, is directed to all branches and scientific researches in all spheres. The big consumer of energy resources is the higher school. Updating of normative-legal and technical base aimed at design and operation of buildings with low energy consumption and high energy efficiency class shows the necessity of short-term solution of the problem. At the same time, there is a lack of a systemic view of energy efficiency, which does not allow evaluating the level of energy costs throughout the life cycle of higher education institutions, which shows the need to find effective solutions to the problem.METHODS. Multiple regression equation was used to assess the influence of factors on electricity consumption and energy efficiency of Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, statistical analysis of the obtained data was performed.FINDINGS. As a result it was found out that the data of electricity consumption do not obey the law of normal distribution, so it is difficult to build an accurate prediction of electricity consumption. The use of HAB knowledge on energy efficiency allowed a more qualitative analysis and highlighted the main factors affecting electricity consumption. The university has unregulated central heating, individual air conditioning systems, and central and individual lighting. In this regard, we selected the following main factors: average outdoor air temperature, average duration of daylight hours, heating period, average number of people working per day, during the month to conduct energy monitoring and energy audit of university buildings.CONCLUSION. Implementation of suggested scheme of structural organization of typical system of automatic accounting of university energy consumption on the basis of university HUB of energy efficiency knowledge: server, allowing to collect, store and process data; routers by means of various wire and wireless communication technologies; hubs, installed on the objects of energy consumption; workstations, which are personal computers with installed software of used HUB will allow to optimize energy consumption.

The implementation of energy efficiency measures and use of renewable energy sources in educational buildings can significantly contribute to reducing energy consumption, but also to CO2 emissions in the entire public sector. The paper shows the comparison of energy consumption indicators for 61 elementary school buildings which have previously been divided in 12 groups, according to the period of construction and size, based on the national typology called TABULA, as the first step of further study on how to use the renewable energy sources. The aim of this paper is to use the energy benchmarking process to select representative facilities which are suitable for applying renewable energy sources, for their further energy efficiency improvement. Indicators of annual specific electricity consumption and CO2 emissions per unit area [kWh/m2] and per user [kWh/user] were calculated. After that, from two groups (in which the highest electricity consumption and CO2 emissions are 68.37% and 74.53% of the total consumption/ emissions), one representative facility was selected.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to outline efforts at the University of Johannesburg, a large metropolitan university in Gauteng province, to examine energy efficiency within the context of the green campus movement, through the analysis of electricity consumption patterns. The study is particularly relevant in light of the cumulative 230 per cent increase in electricity costs between 2008 and 2014 in South Africa that has forced institutions of higher education to seek ways to reduce energy consumption. Design/Methodology/Approach – A quantitative research design was adopted for the analysis of municipal electricity consumption records using a case study approach to identify trends and patterns in consumption. The largest campus of the University of Johannesburg, which is currently one of the largest residential universities in South Africa, was selected as a case study. Average diurnal consumption profiles were plotted according to phases of the academic calendar, distinguished by specific periods of active teaching and research (in-session); study breaks, examinations and administration (out-of-session); and recesses. Average profiles per phase of the academic calendar were constructed from the hourly electricity consumption and power records using ExcelTM pivot tables and charts. Findings – It was found that the academic calendar has profound effects on energy consumption by controlling the level of activity. Diurnal maximum consumption corresponds to core working hours, peaking at an average of 2,500 kWh during “in-session” periods, 2,250 kWh during “out-of-session” periods and 2,100 kWh during recess. A high base load was evident throughout the year (between 1,300 and 1,650 kWh), mainly attributed to heating and cooling. By switching off the 350 kW chiller plant on weekdays, a 9 per cent electricity reduction could be achieved during out-of-session and recess periods. Similarly, during in-session periods, a 6 per cent reduction could be achieved. Practical implications – Key strategies and recommendations are presented to stimulate energy efficiency implementation within the institution. Originality Value – Coding of consumption profiles against the academic calendar has not been previously done in relation to an academic institution. The profiles were used to establish the influence of the academic calendar on electricity consumption, which along with our own observation were used to identify specific consumption reduction opportunities worth pursuing.

The article presents the problems of ensuring energy efficiency of housing construction in the Russian Federation. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons and, despite the existence of federal and regional legislation, today Russia does not pay due attention to this issue, which leads to an unreasonable increase in electricity consumption both during the creation of residential real estate objects and during their operation. 96 Экономические системы. 2020. № 2 Economic Systems. 2020. No. 2 The relevance of the topic is enhanced by significant energy consumption of residential buildings in use: more than 50% of electrical energy consumption falls on these real estate objects. Therefore, it is no coincidence, but a completely logical trend of the 21st century, that the governments of most countries popularized the idea of designing and building energy-efficient residential buildings. It was established that the improvement of domestic legislation in terms of energy efficiency has greatly improved the regulatory framework for the design and construction of energy-efficient residential real estate.

The international practices in organizing the energy consumption control of electric rolling stock are analyzed. As a result, it was concluded that currently the issue of organizing the energy consumption control of electric rolling stock is mainly solved by using analytical methods. These methods are based on designing the simulation models, which are usually based on the Pontryagin maximum principle. However, considering the development of recording systems for motion parameters of electric rolling stock, as well as other automated systems of Russian Railways, it seems promising to develop and study artificial intelligence methods and algorithms for solving real-time monitoring issues of electric rolling stock energy consumption. It was also determined that the most modern motion parameter recorders have a number of significant drawbacks from the data analysis point of view. Such drawbacks include insufficient data and their low reliability, lack of linking the recorded data to trips and locomotive teams, the impossibility of choosing a constant interval for recording measurement results. Moreover, there is also high probability of errors when recording data on the cartridge, lack of GPS/GLONASS satellite navigation system, lack of wireless data transmission, imperfection of software and inconvenience of exporting data from a cartridge file and its incompleteness. In order to test the energy efficiency assessment of electric rolling stock within the limits of arbitrary energy tracking areas, the Corresponding software was developed on the basis of data from the motion parameters recorders. However, developing the new complex automated system is required for the full implementation of the proposed consumption tracking method. Such system should combine the entire set of measured parameters, both for electric rolling stock and for the traction power supply system.

Reducing the electricity consumption is a current trend which has an economic, social and environmental impact. Measures which are outlined to increase efficiency are also supported by legislation and could be funded from the national or European funds in EU countries. In Slovakia, there are many establishments, public buildings and households built in past decades where energy is being wasted. Approximately the share one third of the consumed energy in Slovakia belongs to industry. This statistic naturally legitimizes the effort to achieve energy savings in this segment. We choose a body which is in use partially as commercial offices and partially as production facility. The matter was to identify areas with excessive energy consumption and propose appropriate measures to avoid unnecessary losses. The paper presents more aspects of building operation regarding of energy consumption, especially in relation with old buildings with more structural and operational defects and propose some ways of the improvements the energy efficiency. The work also includes experimental data and simplified economy considerations related to the proposed measures. Finally the step model is presented in order to simplify the decision making process. The model is relevant and also applicable generally for the other engineering disciplines.

Abstract With the constantly upgrading of the living level of urban residents, the types and quantities of domestic appliances continue to increase, and the electricity consumption behaviour is becoming more and more complex. Based on the fine-grained user energy consumption data obtained by load intelligent perception, this paper proposes a user energy efficiency evaluation method through fuzzy comprehension evaluation. First, the energy consumption characteristics at appliance level which can effectively represent energy consumption behaviour of users are designed and filtered, and then the energy efficiency evaluation strategy of appliances based on fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is established. The strategy adopts two-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The first appliance-level fuzzy evaluation realizes the energy efficiency evaluation of the appliances. The second level is the comprehensive evaluation of user energy efficiency based on the appliance energy efficiency assessment, and the target users are divided into different energy efficiency levels. The measured data-based analysis results prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, and the results can guide users to optimize their electricity consumption behaviour scientifically and realize energy saving and carbon reduction.
