The paper considers a new approach to planning and forming a stock of spare parts necessary for the smooth functioning of transport enterprises. The basis of the author's approach is the developed simulation model of the warehouse adapted for any type of enterprise that serves and (or) operates road transport. The need for spare parts in this model is defined as a mixture of probability distributions of demand of various kinds, which makes it universal. The model was based on the new patterns of influence of following factors on the size of the stock revealed by the authors: the statistical indicators of the need for spare parts, the type and location of the enterprise, the target level of reliability of the supply system, etc. The proposed approach allows connecting the main indicators of the resource management effectiveness: the shortage rate, the cost of stock, the level of system reliability. It allows planning and forming a stock of spare parts reasonably. It is expected that the proposed approach will increase the efficiency of transport enterprises and the degree of satisfaction of consumers of their services.

Abstract Advanced jet training still relies on old concepts and solutions that are no longer efficient when considering the current and forthcoming changes in air combat. The cost of those old solutions to develop and maintain combat pilot skills are important, adding even more constraints to the training limitations. The requirement of having a trainer aircraft able to perform also light combat aircraft operational mission is adding unnecessary complexity and cost without any real operational advantages to air combat mission training. Thanks to emerging technologies, the JANUS project will study the feasibility of a brand-new concept of agile manoeuvrable training aircraft and an integrated training system, able to provide a live, virtual and constructive environment. The JANUS concept is based on a lightweight, low-cost, high energy aircraft associated to a ground based Integrated Training System providing simulated and emulated signals, simulated and real opponents, combined with real-time feedback on pilot’s physiological characteristics: traditionally embedded sensors are replaced with emulated signals, simulated opponents are proposed to the pilot, enabling out of sight engagement. JANUS is also providing new cost effective and more realistic solutions for “Red air aircraft” missions, organised in so-called “Aggressor Squadrons”.

In 1985, Boehlert (Fish. Bull. 83: 103–117) suggested that fish age could be estimated from otolith measurements. Since that time, a number of inferential techniques have been proposed and tested in a range of species. A review of these techniques shows that all are subject to at least one of four types of bias. In addition, they all focus on assigning ages to individual fish, whereas the estimation of population parameters (particularly proportions at age) is usually the goal. We propose a new flexible method of inference based on mixture analysis, which avoids these biases and makes better use of the data. We argue that the most appropriate technique for evaluating the performance of these methods is a cost–benefit analysis that compares the cost of the estimated ages with that of the traditional annulus count method. A simulation experiment is used to illustrate both the new method and the cost–benefit analysis.

The article discusses the issues of the activity of the public catering system during the Soviet period, in particular, the policy and problems in this area affecting the issues of ensuring the material and technical base, as well as the need of the population itself in the field of public catering.During the years of Soviet rule, new directions in the public catering system were formed. A new approach was integrated in the management structure and in provision.A differentiated approach was introduced in the direction of public catering, i.e. reform in the issue of service, the cost of public catering. In other words, the cost price and service (in the public catering system) in large enterprises differed sharply from the prices in schools.

AbstractIntroduction. Effective management of road indstry is particularly important in conditions of limited funding, as it is not possible to provide adequate funding of the economic entity that has the functions of a customer service. The cost of the customer service maintenance depends directly on the compliance with applicable regulations for these works cost determination. One of the aspects that form a considerable part of the costs of customer service is the maintenance of service vehicles.Problem Statement. Road services in the regions (hereinafter RSR) are the recipients and managers of the funds from the State Budget of Ukraine that are directed for the development and maintenance of public roads of state importance, being as well the asset holders of these roads. To perform their functions, the RSR have vehicles on their balance, the use of which involves a number of costs, including fuel and lubricants, repair, maintenance, replacement of tires, etc. The most important of the steps involved in setting the costs of vehicle maintenance is the process of cost planning. Planning has to be based on the structure of the vehicle fleet (own or leased), functional responsibilities and scope of road works.Planning is carried out for vehicles on the balance of the RSR, as well as for leased vehicles. In the case of leasing, the costs mentioned above are added by the vehicles leasing costs. These costs must be forecasted, justified and performed within the approved cost estimates of the customer service expenses.Purpose. The purpose of the article is to highlight the theoretical and methodological approaches to the calculation of planned costs for the maintenance of service vehicles of the road works customer.Materials and methods. Dialectical methods of knowledge, such as analysis and synthesis of fleet composition characteristics and approaches to cost planning methods, as well as induction, were used in writing the article to explore some aspects of the process of calculating the planned cost of maintenance of the road works customer's service vehicles.Results. The study highlights and describes the main approaches to the calculation of planned costs for the maintenance of service vehicles of the road works customer. The methodology of calculation of planned costs for the maintenance of service vehicles is explored.Conclusions. The introduction of a clear methodology and analytical toolkit for calculating all necessary expenditure items for the maintenance of the road works customer's vehicles in the cost planning process will establish the implementation of a clear mechanism for calculating the planned costs of maintenance of the road works customer's vehicles. It will also provide an automated information-analytical complex for planning of cost estimates, with information entry and reporting in standard forms and possibility of prompt response to changes in fleet composition, needs for spare parts, repairs or other expenses for the maintenance of service vehicles and making changes in cost estimates.Keywords: motor vehicles, costs, cost planning, customer service, maintenance of service vehicles

The use of distributed generations (DGs) in distribution systems has been common in recent years. Some DGs work stand alone and it is possible to improve the system reliability by connecting these DGs to system. The joint point of DGs is an important parameter in the system designing. In this paper, a novel methodology is proposed to find the optimum solution in order to make a proper decision about DGs connection. In the proposed method, a novel objective function is introduced which includes the cost of connector lines between DGs and network and the cost of energy not supplied (CENS) savings. Furthermore, an analytical approach is used to calculate the CENS decrement. To solve the introduced nonlinear optimization programming, the genetic algorithm (GA) is used. The proposed method is applied to a realistic 183-bus system of Tehran Regional Electrical Company (TREC). The results illustrate the effectiveness of the method to improve the system reliability by connecting the DGs work stand alone in proper placements.

We have presented a new unified approach to model the dynamics of both the sum and difference of two correlated lognormal stochastic variables. By the Lie-Trotter operator splitting method, both the sum and difference are shown to follow a shifted lognormal stochastic process, and approximate probability distributions are determined in closed form. Illustrative numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the validity and accuracy of these approximate distributions. In terms of the approximate probability distributions, we have also obtained an analytical series expansion of the exact solutions, which can allow us to improve the approximation in a systematic manner. Moreover, we believe that this new approach can be extended to study both (1) the algebraic sum ofNlognormals, and (2) the sum and difference of other correlated stochastic processes, for example, two correlated CEV processes, two correlated CIR processes, and two correlated lognormal processes with mean-reversion.

Abstract Classical sets are used commonly to consider reliability. Because of the uncertainty in the data (which considered in the present paper) classical sets fail to describe the reliability accurately. Uncertainty leads to fluctuation in the actual situation of the structure. Fuzzy logic method attempts to test system reliability with the benefit of membership function. Within this context, specific problems of reasoning-based approaches are studied, explored and correlated with standard reliability approaches. In this paper Generalized Trapezoidal Fuzzy numbers (GTrFN) are used to assess the structure's fuzzy reliability. The reliability of each event is assigned with different level of satisfaction and some improved operations on the generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (GTrFN) are used to calculate the fuzzy boundaries for the resultant reliability of the final event along with the degree of satisfaction. Also the results are compared to demonstrate the application of the improved operations on Generalized Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers (GTrFN). The obtained results converge to more precise interval values as compare to the vague fuzzy number.
