When communicating with the surrounding people each person shows his / her social and psychological personal qualities. The development of these qualities is influenced by a large number of factors. Physical education plays a significant role in this process. The development of social and psychological qualities manifests itself in the presence of one’s own beliefs and views on various phenomena and events in society; in the acquired social attitudes and requirements both in relation to himself and to other people; in the ability to make decisions and bear responsibility for them; in the ability to master and carry out various social roles; in the efficiency of interaction with various social groups of people; in willingness for self-education, etc. The article characterizes the process of physical education at a university as one of the spheres of educational activity which promotes social adaptation of students to the conditions of the university, and develops future professionals’ socially and professionally significant personal qualities and the ability for efficient activity in the constantly changing conditions of the social environment and social production. The authors emphasize the importance of pedagogical, social and psychological environment in which the process of a personality development is realized.

The new generation Z (born at the beginning of the 21st century) has not been sufficiently studied, has a certain difference from the previous generations Y and X. Basing on the specifics of the modern young people as a generation of virtual communication, the authors suggest that they should have their specific interest in physical education and sports. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to study the attitude of generation Z to physical culture and sports. According to the conducted sociological survey, there have been identified the moments that contribute to the formation of an interest in physical education activities at the representatives of generation Z. Entering and studying at the university involves the process of active adaptation of the individual to changing conditions of reality and emotional and stressful situations. In this regard, the role of physical education and training in the context of social adaptation is extremely important, since in the process of doing physical exercises, the issues of self-realization of generation Z can be successfully solved. To identify the attitude of representatives of generation Z to physical culture and sports, the authors conducted a sociological survey, which revealed an undeniable positive attitude of students to physical exercise, but under conditions of greater diversity, sufficient availability of necessary equipment and individual approach. Since rapidly changing economic conditions require the training of competitive specialists, university physical education teachers need to rethink the goals and objectives of physical education, creating the prerequisites for the introduction of new ways to develop interest in physical culture and sports.

Currently an acute crisis exists regarding the traditional methodological platform of the higher education system. Research continues with studies of individual facets of human personality without referring to new methodological realities. The dominant model of the University has remained unchanged for about 200 years. Today, however, the goals, means and agents of socialization are changing. In this essay, a new methodological platform for personality development is proposed and discussed, one which examines the role of behavioral stereotypes in the social and professional success of the individual.

Re-thinking dominant epistemological assumptions of the urban in the global South implies recognising the role of grassroots networks in challenging epistemic injustices through the co-production of multiple saberes and haceres for more just and inclusive cities. This paper examines the pedagogies of such networks by focusing on the experiences nurtured within Habitat International Coalition in Latin America (HIC-AL), identified as a ‘School of Grassroots Urbanism’ (Escuela de Urbanismo Popular). Although HIC-AL follows foremost activist rather than educational objectives, members of HIC-AL identify and value their practices as a ‘School’, whose diverse pedagogic logics and epistemological arguments are examined in this paper. The analysis builds upon a series of in-depth interviews, document reviews and participant observation with HIC-AL member organisations and allied grassroots networks. The discussion explores how the values and principles emanating from a long history of popular education and popular urbanism in the region are articulated through situated pedagogies of resistance and transformation, which in turn enable generative learning from and for the social production of habitat.

The field of theology and development is a relatively new sub-discipline within theological studies in Africa. The first formal post-graduate programme was introduced at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa during the mid-1990s. In the early years it was known as the Leadership and Development programme and since 2000, as the Theology and Development programme. Over the past twenty years, this programme has graduated over 160 BTh Honours, 100 MTh, and 15 PhD students. This article outlines the history of the programme, addresses its ideological orientation, its pedagogical commitments and preferences in curriculum design. It further argues that theological reflection on “development” must seek to understand the prophetic role of the church in responding to the complexities of the social issues facing the African continent.  Key to this discussion is the contested nature of “development” and the need for theological perspectives to engage this contestation through a social analysis of the global structures of injustice. This requires an engagement with the social sciences. It is this engagement of the social sciences with theological reflection, the essay argues, that has enabled the students who have graduated from the Theology and Development Programme at the University of KwaZulu-Natal to assist the church and faith-based organisations to become effective agents of social transformation.

The paper is based on archival materials about the activities of the Kuibyshev Planning Institute of the 1930s. It reconstructs the biography of the Russian and Soviet diplomat, military and academic of the first third of the 20th century, Vasily Lvovich Pogodin (1870 - after 1937). The study reveals a set of documentary evidence on the diplomatic and pedagogical career of V. Pogodin in the first years of the Soviet power, and determines the features of his pedagogical and party activities in Kuibyshev in 1933-1937. The author highlights a special role of the Planning Institute party committee materials as well as the high school workers trade union in the reconstruction of Pogodins biography. The paper emphasizes that Pogodin was considered to be one of the best lecturers of the Kuibyshev Planning Institute and a credible party worker. It is noted that his noble origin, service in the tsarist army and membership in the party of the Social Revolutionaries until 1937 were not the reason for penalties or prosecution by the party or the university administration. As a result, the author concludes that the fate of Vasily Lvovich Pogodin shows an extraordinary character of his personality. He made a brilliant military career in the years of the late Russian empire and became a major general of the Russian imperial army. Then he managed to integrate into the new Soviet system, radically changing the sphere of his activity and having achieved no less outstanding results in diplomacy and education. He became the plenipotentiary representative of the Far Eastern Republic in China, the director of a number of educational and cultural institutions of the Far East, then a professor of political economy in Kuibyshev.

On-campus retailing is a spread practice, but academia has almost underestimated its potential. Nevertheless, not every type of retail activity adds value to customers and society. When the proposed value is society-driven and sensitive to consumers' wellbeing, customers' engagement increases. One business model, through which it is possible to exploit the benefits of on-campus retailing by adding social value, is the Yunus Social Business. This is a case-based study aiming to describe, through the Social Business Model Canvas, the founding of an organic shop within a university that is supplied by administrative staff of the university that are at the same time also local farmers. Further, the shop aims to resell organic food to university staff and students. The case study is theoretically enriched by traditional Porterian frameworks and new service frameworks such as the service-dominant logic by emphasizing the role of value proposition, value co-creation, and value-in-context.
