AbstractPenile cancer is relatively frequent in developing world compared with developed countries. Majority of histologies are of squamous origin and spread through lymphatics or vascular channels. Metastases from penile carcinoma mainly involves lung, liver, bone, and rarely other sites. The patient reported here is a treated case of penile cancer who presented with lesion in right breast after treatment for primary disease. He responded well to the adjuvant therapy.

Penile cancer as primary disease is relatively rare in developed countries. The penis is a rare site of metastases in spite of its rich vascularization. Approximately 500 cases have been reported in the literature; almost 70% of primary lesions are of pelvic origin (from genitourinary or recto-sigmoid primary tumors). We describe a case of penile metastasis from lung cancer. The rarity of the event prompted us to also explore related reviews and discuss the incidence, physiopathology, diagnosis and therapy of penile secondary cancer.

A systematic review of the current treatment options and of the outcomes of penile carcinoma has been performed with special focus on controversial issues. A MedLine search using specified search terms was done during the period 1988 - January 2013. Demolitive surgery is considered as the “gold standard” treatment of invasive penile carcinoma staged higher than T2, but negative psychological outcomes were reported. On the other hand, conservative surgical techniques have been associated with higher recurrence rates. Potency-sparing technique (glansectomy and apexes sparing) preserves penile length: the reconstruction of glans anatomy and function is a key point to restore anatomy and sexual functions. Techniques such as glanduloplasty have given satisfactory anatomic, functional and sexual outcomes. Lymphadenectomy is indicated in any case of inguinal palpable nodes that persist after a course of antibiotic therapy, but also in all the cases staged T2 or higher, or in any high-grade penile cancer. It is still being debated the extension of inguinal lymphadenectomy for penile cancer: unilateral, bilateral, and extended to pelvic lymph nodes. Due to the specific radioresistance of penile cancer, radiation therapy is currently indicated in case of unresectable penile cancers with palliative intent. Chemotherapy is indicated as adjuvant therapy for stage T1-T3, N1-3, M0, or as neo-adjuvant therapy in the event of extensive pelvic and inguinal lymphadenopathies, or as palliative treatment in patients with unresectable or metastatic cancers. New chemotherapy agents such as Cis - platinum and Taxanes have shown promising results in early trials.

Recruiting nurses from other countries is a long-standing practice. In recent years many countries in the developed world have more frequently recruited nurses from the developing world, causing an imbalance in the health services in often already impoverished countries. Despite guidelines and promises by developed countries that the practice should cease, it has largely failed to do so. A consortium of authors from countries that have experienced significant nurse poaching consider the ethical aspects behind this continuing practice.

The relationship between women, technology manifestation, and likely prospects in the developing world is discussed in this manuscript. Using India as a case study, the paper goes on to discuss how ontology and epistemology views utilised in AI (Artificial Intelligence) and robotics will affect women's prospects in developing countries. Women in developing countries, notably in South Asia, are perceived as doing domestic work and are underrepresented in high-level professions. They are disproportionately underemployed and face prejudice in the workplace. The purpose of this study is to determine if the introduction of AI would exacerbate the already precarious situation of women in the developing world or if it would serve as a liberating force. While studies on the impact of AI on women have been undertaken in developed countries, there has been less research in developing countries. This manuscript attempts to fill that need.

Recent headlines have championed the success of much of the developed world in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, but the fight is far from over. Although developed countries such as the U.S. can somewhat afford a return to normalcy, a lack of action in confronting the struggles of the developing world will come back to haunt us - and the evidence shows that it already is.

Over time, changes in lifestyles, surroundings, and presence of parasites in the developed and developing world has resulted in new strains of various communicable diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, etc. Even though the global average of diseases may be quite low, the concentration in certain countries is much higher. In developed countries, information technology has proved to be an indispensable tool to spread awareness regarding these communicable diseases; however, most developing countries lack the infrastructure needed to use these same resources to educate people about the prevention, symptoms, and treatment available. This chapter makes the following contributions: first, it outlines some of the critical challenges regarding the spread of communicable diseases. It then identifies and summarizes the various information systems strategies used in developed and developing countries. The conclusion ties these together and offers suggestions to further curb the spread of communicable diseases in developing countries.

What it means to live in poverty depends on where in the world you are. Developed countries have their own brand of poverty that differs qualitatively from that in the developing world. ‘Living: here and there’ compares and contrasts five dimensions of life that underpin our notion of well-being: family structure, health, education, assets (financial and non-financial), and the environment. The focus is on qualitative characteristics that seem to persist over time, although some data are included in order to provide broader context. The consequences of family structure, health, education, assets, and the environment often manifest themselves in the labour market.

AbstractAortic sarcomas are a very rare condition typically characterized by a deceiving presentation. Making a correct diagnosis is based on the application of an algorithm which allows to identify the primary disease site and to obtain a tissue diagnosis. Surgical aortic resection with adjuvant therapy offers the best palliation, particularly in cases of well-differentiated tumors with no evidence of diffuse metastatic spread.
