This article examines the method of latent-semantic analysis, its advantages, disadvantages, and the possibility of further transformation for use in arrays of unstructured data, which make up most of the information that Internet users deal with. To extract context-dependent word meanings through the statistical processing of large sets of textual data, an LSA method is used, based on operations with numeric matrices of the word-text type, the rows of which correspond to words, and the columns of text units to texts. The integration of words into themes and the representation of text units in the theme space is accomplished by applying one of the matrix expansions to the matrix data: singular decomposition or factorization of nonnegative matrices. The results of LSA studies have shown that the content of the similarity of words and text is obtained in such a way that the results obtained closely coincide with human thinking. Based on the methods described above, the author has developed and proposed a new way of finding semantic links between unstructured data, namely, information on social networks. The method is based on latent-semantic and frequency analyzes and involves processing the search result received, splitting each remaining text (post) into separate words, each of which takes the round in n words right and left, counting the number of occurrences of each term, working with a pre-created semantic resource (dictionary, ontology, RDF schema, ...). The developed method and algorithm have been tested on six well-known social networks, the interaction of which occurs through the ARI of the respective social networks. The average score for author's results exceeded that of their own social network search. The results obtained in the course of this dissertation can be used in the development of recommendation, search and other systems related to the search, rubrication and filtering of information.

Chapter 6 begins with an overview of the language contact situation with (Anglo-) French and Latin, resulting in large-scale borrowing in the Middle English period. The analysis of 465 Middle English verbs used to express intransitive motion shows that there are far more French/Latin loans in the path verbs than in the other motion verbs. The range of (new) manner of motion verbs testifies to the manner salience of Middle English: caused motion verbs are also found in intransitive motion meanings, as are French loans which do not have motion uses in continental French. Their motion uses in Anglo-Norman are discussed in terms of contact influence of Middle English. The analysis of motion expression in different texts yields a picture similar to the situation in Old English, with path typically expressed in satellites, and neutral as well as manner of motion verbs being most frequent, depending on text type.

Abstract This study investigates the distribution of long and short independent pronouns in Maltese. By applying proposed positional and functional diagnostics to explain the variation between short and long pronouns (copular use, modification, coordination, peripheral positions) combined with a corpus study of pronominal form, person, and text type, this study sheds light on the factors that influence pronominal form and the status of reduced person forms in Maltese. While the copular use of pronouns does have a weak effect on pronominal form (long forms preferred), a stronger effect is observed with regard to grammatical person (1 sg prefers short forms, 2 sg & 3 sg prefer long forms) and text type.

In this study, thermo-elastic and lattice dynamic properties of XMgAl (X = Li, Na) half-Heusler compounds are investigated using density functional theory implemented in WIEN2k and Quantum ESPRESSO codes. Generalized gradient approximation (GGA) as an exchange correlation function has been used in Kohn–Sham equations. Firstly, the structure of these Heusler compounds is optimized and then these optimized parameters are used to find three elastic constants [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text] type structures. Three elastic constants are then used to determine different elastic moduli like bulk modulus, shear modulus, Young’s modulus and other mechanical parameters like Pugh’s ratio, Poisson’s ratio, anisotropic ratio, sound velocities, Debye temperature and melting temperature. On behalf of these mechanical parameters, the brittle/ductile nature and isotropic/anisotropic behavior of the materials has been studied. Different regions of vibrational modes in the materials are also discussed on behalf of Debye temperature calculations. The vibrational properties of the half-Heusler compounds are computed using Martins–Troullier pseudo potentials implemented in Quantum ESPRESSO. The phonon dispersion curves and phonon density of states in first Brillion zone are obtained and discussed. Reststrahlen band of LiMgAl is found greater than NaMgAl.

Free charge carrier concentration in arrays of silicon nanowires (SiNWs) with cross-sectional size of the order of 100[Formula: see text]nm was quantitatively studied by means of the infrared spectroscopy in an attenuated total reflection mode. SiNWs were formed on lightly-doped [Formula: see text]-type crystalline silicon substrates by metal-assisted chemical etching followed by additional doping through thermoactivated diffusion of boron at 900–1000∘C. The latter process was found to increase the concentration of free holes in SiNWs up to [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text]. Potential applications of highly doped SiNWs in thermoelectric energy converters and infrared plasmonic devices are discussed.

Considerably less attention has been paid to other grammatical categories such as adverbs. However, these words can also be problematic for the novice translator, who tends to use the translation correspondences in bilingual dictionaries without realizing that formal equivalence is not necessarily the same as textual equivalence. However, semantic values, acquired in context, go far beyond dictionary meaning and are related to phenomena such as semantic prosody and preferences of lexical selection that can vary, depending on text type and specialized domain.This research explored the reasons why certain adverbial discourse connectors, apparently easy to translate, are a source of translation problems that cannot be easily resolved with a bilingual dictionary. Moreover, this study analyzed the use of parallel corpora in the translation classroom and how it can increase the quality of text production. For this purpose, we compared student translations before and after receiving training on the use of corpus analysis tools

The nuclear isotopic structure can be understood easily via the intermediate-energy charge exchange reactions of (p, n) and [Formula: see text]He, [Formula: see text] type. In the current contribution, we present some results for charge exchange reactions induced by 3He on targets lying in mass region [Formula: see text] within the theoretical framework of plane wave impulse approximation (PWIA) and distorted wave impulse approximation (DWIA). Here, the recoil effects in PWIA have also been considered. Particularly, the angular distributions and the unit cross-sections have been calculated and compared with the available data. Further, the importance of inclusion of the exchange contribution in these reactions is also considered, which eventually enhance the matching with data.

In this paper, we establish global Sobolev a priori estimates for [Formula: see text]-viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic equations as follows: [Formula: see text] by considering minimal integrability condition on the data, i.e. [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text] and a regular domain [Formula: see text], and relaxed structural assumptions (weaker than convexity) on the governing operator. Our approach makes use of techniques from geometric tangential analysis, which consists in transporting “fine” regularity estimates from a limiting operator, the Recession profile, associated to [Formula: see text] to the original operator via compactness methods. We devote special attention to the borderline case, i.e. when [Formula: see text]. In such a scenery, we show that solutions admit [Formula: see text] type estimates for their second derivatives.

The absorption spectrum of H213CO has been photographed in the region 3600 to 3000 Å under high resolution. Rotational analyses have been carried out for four bands, viz., [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] (Type B), and [Formula: see text] (Type C), and molecular constants are given. Several perturbations have been found and possible mechanisms discussed.
