The aim of the study is to examine the effects of sports injuries experienced by adolescent athletes between the ages of 13 and 18 on their quality of life during training and competition. The universe of the study consists of licensed athletes between the ages of 13-18 who play sports at the Manisa Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate. In the study, purposeful sampling method was chosen, and the study sample consisted of 170 athletes (97 females, 73 males) with sports injuries and 90 athletes (49 females, 41 males) without sports injuries, totally 260 volunteers. The demographic information form developed by the researchers, the Adolescent Form of the Quality of Life for Children (PedsQL) developed by Varni et al. (1999), the Adolescent Form of the Age of 13-18, and the Causes of Injury in Sports Questionnaire prepared by Alkaabi (2015) were used as data collection methods. As a result, it was found that female athletes had more sports injuries in adolescent athletes than men. The number of athletes who suffered injuries in defense sports is higher than in other branches. As a result, it has been determined that sports injury negatively affects the quality of life. It was found as a result of the study data that they experienced more injuries in training than in competitions. Since the injury is mostly in the winter season and the athletes stated that they did not use protective equipment during the injury, the trainers should be informed, they should be thoughtful about taking the necessary precautions and precautions and should be offered the necessary supervision. Keywords: Adolescent athlete, injury, quality of life

Adolescence is a very complex and crucial phase of life, where teenagers are caught up in their own web of personal strivings, such as the issues of being, belonging and becoming. Such strivings play a pivotal role in determining their quality of life. Further whether these intrinsic motives (i.e. 3Bs being, belonging and becoming) are being influenced by gender stereotypes is a big issue for the psychologists to explore. Thus the current study is an attempt to explore and compare the levels of being, belonging and becoming (comprising of overall QOL) among male and female adolescents. A purposive sample of 98 adolescents aged 16-18 years, both male (n=44) and female (n=54) was drawn from the colleges of Rewari and Gurgaon districts of Haryana. For measuring personal strivings, Quality Of Life Profile for Adolescent Version Questionnaire (Raphael, Rukholm, Brown, Hill-Bailey & Donato, 1996) was used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to assess the levels of being, belonging and becoming and overall quality of life and gender comparison was done on these variables. Results indicated adequate level of personal strivings leading to overall good quality of life among adolescents (total as well as in both male and female separately). Both males and females have similar levels of quality of life. However, females superseded males in spiritual being and community belonging.

Life management controls the quality of one’s work while ensuring one’s quality of life with minimum conflicts. The contractor’s site quantity surveyor (QS), who has to shoulder many responsibilities on-site amongst time constraints, can most probably experience a life imbalance. Because the personal responsibilities of female and male site QSs differ, the aim of this study was to identify the strategies that will enhance the life management of contractor’s site quantity surveyors. The qualitative approach was adopted in the study, and the required empirical data were collected by interviewing 20 females and 20 males contractor’s site QSs. The interview findings were analysed using manual content analysis. Thirty-one and twenty-eight causes of life imbalance in male and female QSs respectively were identified. In addition, 50 and 48 strategies that will facilitate satisfactory life management in male and female QSs, respectively were identified. Some of the identified causes and strategies were common to both male and females QSs.

Part-time training and working have become popular acceptable options for both male and female psychiatrists, regardless of age. There are a number of reasons for this, the most common being family commitments such as those to children or elderly relatives, but also including personal ill health, wanting to reduce stress and prevent burn-out, wanting to pursue different priorities, portfolioworking or simply trying to achieve a better quality of life. The importance of providing flexible working patterns has been emphasised by the Department of Health (1998) in Working Together – Securing a Quality Workforce for the NHS.

The MMPI and MMPI–2 have been used extensively in the study of personality correlates in various coronary populations. It has been hypothesized that personality variables are associated with various clinical outcomes, such as quality of life, morbidity, and mortality; however, no data are available in a cardiac transplant sample. This study presents descriptive MMPI and MMPI–2 data for male and female patients awaiting cardiac transplant. Analyses of differences in MMPI–2 depression scales between cardiomyopathy groups for 366 men and 99 women were performed. Significant differences were found between ischemic and nonischemic male patients.
