Simultaneous hemoglobin and creatinine renal clearance studies have been presented which indicate that hemoglobin is eliminated by the kidney at a rate which is 3 per cent of the creatinine clearance, above a plasma hemoglobin concentration of approximately 250 mg. per 100 cc. In dogs whose average glomerular filtration rate is 66 cc. per minute, about 2 cc. of plasma are cleared of hemoglobin per minute. A definite renal threshold exists for hemoglobin at a plasma concentration of about 100 mg. per 100 cc., below which hemoglobinuria does not occur. The uniformity of the process indicates that hemoglobinuria is not the result of a transient glomerular injury induced by the hemoglobin. It is tentatively suggested that the experimental results obtained may be interpreted in terms of the following concept. The glomerulus permits the filtration of hemoglobin in amounts directly dependent upon plasma concentration. However, only 3 per cent of all the pores of the membrane are electrostatically large enough to permit the passage of an undissociated hemoglobin molecule. Of that hemoglobin which passes down the tubule, a relatively constant though small amount is recovered by the tubules by a process not unlike that of phagocytosis found elsewhere in the body. An average value for this "athrocytic" capacity in a medium-sized dog is 2 mg. of hemoglobin per minute. This pattern of renal hemoglobin excretion is in agreement with the principles of the modern theory of kidney function.

The authors of the article have studied the content of the elements of anti-oxidant system (malondialdehyde, catalase, selenium) in tissues of the internal organs (gills, intestine, muscles, liver, swimbladder, scales) in some species of predatory fish (pike Esox lucius (L., 1758), perch Perca fluviatilis (L., 1758), pike-perch Sander lucioperca (L., 1758), catfish Silurus glanis ) widespread in the basin of the Volga river in the Saratov region. The lowest concentration of malondialdehyde in organisms of the studied fish species is observed in fall and winter; the highest - in spring and summer. Catalase activity in gills tissue of a pike raised in 11.8%, cat-fish - 9.1%, pike-perch - 7.5%, perch - 7.8%. In fall (compared to winter) enzyme activity lowering in gonads of pike-perch makes 16.3%, in gonads of perch - 14.4%. In other tissues there were not observed any evident changes of catalase activity. Fish species under consideration are listed according to the average value of selenium concentration in organisms, µg/g: pike (0.208) > catfish (0.207) > pike-perch (0.196) > perch (0.178). According to the average value of the selenium accumulation in the body in different season all the studied species can be placed in the following order, µg/g: winter-pike (0.132) > pike-perch (0.136) > perch and catfish (0.142); spring - pike-perch (0.190) > perch (0.191) > pike (0.208) > catfish (0.209); summer - perch (0.186) > pike-perch (0.190) > catfish and pike (0.203); autumn - perch (0.193) > pike-perch (0.268) > > catfish (0.274) > pike (0.289).

When myohemoglobin is injected intravenously into dogs, in amounts ranging from 0.75 to 1.50 gm., it is rapidly eliminated from the plasma and approximately 65 per cent is excreted by the kidneys in from 1½ to 2½ hours. Myohemoglobin does not appear in the urine below a threshold plasma concentration which is slightly under 20 mg. per 100 cc. but above this level the rate of renal excretion is directly proportional to the plasma concentration. The maximum myohemoglobin/creatinine clearance ratio averages 0.58 contrasted with a value of 0.023 for blood hemoglobin. This indicates that the rate of renal clearance of myohemoglobin is twenty-five times more rapid than that of blood hemoglobin. Evidence is presented that the excretory mechanism is essentially similar for the two substances but that differences in molecular weight account for different rates of glomerular filtration.

Purpose– the study the nonlinear dynamics of microcirculation parameters in human symmetrical organs.Material and Methods. Parameters of microcirculation were measured in healthy volunteers (aged between 50 and 70 years) by means of laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF). LDF signal transducers were fixed symmetrically on the lower parts of the right and left shoulders (3 cm above the elbow bend). The degree of chaoticity of microcirculation parameters as a nonlinear dynamic process was estimated using Hausdorff’s index, relative entropy and characteristics of phase portraits. Along with components of the amplitude-and-frequency range for blood flow fluctuations (myogenic, neurogenic, respiratory, and cardiac) was estimated and correlations between all characteristics of microcirculation in both sides of the body were done.Results.Asymmetry of correlation relationships of nonlinear dynamics parameters and components of the amplitude-andfrequency range for blood flow fluctuations of right and left sides of the body was revealed. Hausdorff index in the left side correlated not only with the average value of perfusion and with the coefficient of variation in the same side (r1 = –0,68; r2 =–0,51), but also with correlation dimension of chaos in the opposite side (r=0,49). Similarly, entropy in the left side correlated not only with the average value of perfusion and coefficient of variation in the left (r1 =0,43; r2 =0,60), but also with the entropy and correlation dimension of chaos in the right side (r1 =0,48; r2 =–0,41). The neurogenic component in the left side positively correlated with the myogenic component in the same side (r=0,71). A positive correlation was observed between the neurogenic component in right side and myogenic component in the opposite side (r=0,57). Asymmetry of correlation relationships was also revealed for the respiratory and cardiac components.Conclusions. Our results illustrate the specific regulation of blood flow in micro vessels of paired organs, which is associated with functional asymmetry. The physiological mechanisms for this asymmetry require further experimental and clinical studies.

Sports can cause the consumption of energy materials in the body. The rational use of nutritional supplements can maintain the homeostasis of the organism, which plays a very important role in improving the competitive performance of sports athletes. The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of nutritional supplements on basketball sports fatigue. The method of this study is as follows: first of all, 15 basketball players in our city were selected as the experimental objects, and they were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. The members of the experimental group took nutrients. After the training, 6 days a week, 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon, and the rest was adjusted on Sunday. Before training, four weeks and eight weeks of training, the blood routine indexes and body functions of athletes were tested. The results showed that the number of red blood cells, hemoglobin concentration, and average hemoglobin concentration of ligustilide supplement of the athletes were at the level of 0.05 after 4 weeks and 8 weeks, and the difference was significant ( P < 0.05 ). The nutritional supplements were used in sprint (3.4 s less), long-distance running (12.8 s less), and weight lifting (6.2 kg more) to a certain extent. Nutritional supplements are used as an auxiliary means of diet to supplement the amino acids, trace elements, vitamins, minerals, etc. required by the human body. The conclusion is that nutrition supplement can effectively improve the indexes of athletes’ body in about four weeks, but the effect is not obvious after a long time. This study provides a certain method for the research of nutritional supplements in the field of sports.

Ricinus communis L. of Euphorbiaceae family is a widespread plant in tropical regions. It is used in traditional medicines as an anti- fertility agent in India and different parts of the world. The ether soluble portion of the methanol extract of R. communis var minor possesses anti-implantation, anti - conceptive and estrogenic activity in rats and mice when administered subcutaneously.The study was conducted on 10 local breed male rabbits, 1-2 years old, of 1-2 kg body weight. The animals were divided into two groups, control non – treated group and treated group in which animals were treated with single daily dose of 50 mg /kg b. wt. P.O. of decorticated and defatted castor seeds (DDCS) for 14 days. 28th day post treatment, animals were anesthetized by diethyl ether, sacrificed, abdominal cavity was open. The sexual organ (testes, epididymis, prostate and seminal vesical) weighed. In addition to take a biopsy from each one for histopathological changes. The study also included clinical and hematological parameters, in addition to sperm counts and the changes in sperm morphology.Body weight, body temperature increased significantly in treated males. While in non- treated group there were no significant changes. Respiratory rates and heart rate were none significantly changed in treated and non- treated males.Bleeding time none significantly increased in treated males, but increased significantly in none treated males. Clotting times decreased none significantly in treated and non- treated males. The blood parameters including, total erythrocytes count, hemoglobin concentration, PCV% , MCV, MCH, MCHC, total leucocyte and differential leucocyte counts were either increased or decreased none significantly in both groups. The results revealed that the effects of exposure to extract of ricin for 14 days on reproductive efficiency of rabbits, exhibited Significant decrease in weights of testes, epididymis, tails, heads of epididymis, seminal vesicles and prostate in treated males in comparison with those of non- treated males. While the body of epididymis did not show a significant changes.Significant decrease in live sperm numbers, number of sperms in epididymal head, in addition to deformities in high numbers of sperm, including enlarged or small sperms. breaks head, and its detachment, presence of two heads in one sperm, bifurcation of tail and its breaking, sperm coiling in samples from treated males in comparison with those from non-treated males.Histological changes were hyperplasia of lining epithelial cells and vacuolar degenerative changes, loss of spermatogenesis, and spermatocytes necrosis in those from treated males.

This paper presents the data related to morphometric and physiological (hematological) characteristics of brown trout (Salmo trutta) from the Ponor River. This river rises near the village Podrašnica (municipality of Mrkonjić Grad), sinks above the ground and after a while, near the settlement of Krupa na Vrbasu, appears as a source of the Krupa River (tributary of the Vrbas River). Fish sampling was performed during the summer of 2015 and during this period 22 Salmo trutta units were caught (11 females and 11 males). On that occasion, several morphometric (total and standard body length) and hematological traits (Hct-hematocrit, Hb-hemoglobin and MCHC - mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration), body mass and Fulton’s condition factor were analyzed. The average value for total body length was 18.85 cm and for standard body length it was 16.85 cm; the mean value for body mass was 80.38 g, and for Fulton’s condition factor 1.41. In case of hematological parameters, the average value for Hct was 0.39 l/l, Hb 70.62 g/l and MCHC 180.64 g/l erythrocytes. The estimated parameters can serve as indicators for the condition of these aquatic organisms, and indirectly, the state of their environment.

Fish contain many nutrients that are very beneficial for the body, but often fish are traded in a state of death as well as being alive. To observe the freshness of tilapia is done by the introduction of color changes that appear on digital images using the least squares method. The purpose of this research is to build an image management application system to detect the freshness of tilapia. The data used are 10 samples of tilapia images which are photographed every 1 hour for 15 hours and obtained 150 image data and then processed and analyzed using the least squares method. The first process begins with image processing by cropping at the edge of the eye of the original image and then proceed with resizing to 1000 x 1000 pixels and changing the image format to *. Png. After the image has been processed then the average value is calculated rata grayscale uses the 'rata_rata Gambar' application system and an equation is stored which is stored as training data on the application system. After the image has been processed then the image is input into the system, the image will be converted into grayscale form and displayed at a predetermined place together with the rgb and grayscale histograms and then calculated using the least squares method. The last process we do is matching the test image with the image stored as training data and we conclude whether the image is (very fresh, fresh, fresh enough, not fresh, or very not fresh), the percentage of freshness of the anchor fish, and the length of time the anchor fish dies. This study used 150 samples of fish images from fresh fish that were still very fresh until the fish were not very fresh (rotten).

The fast-start (acceleration) performance of seven groups of rainbow trout from 9-6 to 38-7 cm total length was measured in response to d.c. electric shock stimuli. Two fast-start kinematic patterns, L- and S-start were observed. In L-starts the body was bent into an L or U shape and a recoil turn normally accompanied acceleration. Free manoeuvre was not possible in L-starts without loss of speed. In S-starts the body was bent into an S-shape and fish accelerated without a recoil turn. The frequency of S-starts increased with size from 0 for the smallest fish to 60–65% for the largest fish. Acceleration turns were common. The radius of smallest turn for both fast-start patterns was proportional to length (L) with an overall radius of 0–17 L. The duration of the primary acceleration stages increased with size from 0–07 s for the group of smallest fish to 0–10 s for the group of largest fish. Acceleration rates were independent of size. The overall mean maximum rate was 3438 cm/s2 and the average value to the end of the primary acceleration movements was 1562 cm/s2. The distance covered and velocity attained after a given time for fish accelerating from rest were independent of size. The results are discussed in the context of interactions between a predator and prey fish following initial approach by the predator. It is concluded that the outcome of an interaction is likely to depend on reaction times of interacting fish responding to manoeuvres initiated by the predator or prey. The prey reaction time results in the performance of the predator exceeding that of the prey at any instant. The predator reaction time and predator error in responses to unpredictable prey manoeuvre are required for prey escape. It is predicted that a predator should strike the prey within 0-1 s if the fish are initially 5–15 cm apart as reported in the literature for predator-prey interactions. These distances would be increased for non-optimal prey escape behaviour and when the prey body was more compressed or depressed than the predator.

To quantify the role of the kidney in whole body metabolic clearance rate (MCR) from plasma of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), synthetic alpha-human ANP-(1-28) was infused at 200 ng/min to steady-state conditions in chronically instrumented one-kidney conscious dogs. Clearances were measured in dogs with a normally filtering kidney and they were also measured after the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was reduced to close to zero by acutely inflating a cuff around the renal artery (RAC), which resulted in minimal urine production and renal blood flow reduction to 59% of the resting level. In normal dogs, MCR was 1,090 +/- 134 ml/min with renal clearance rate (RCR) contributing only 13.9%. After RAC, MCR fell to 864 +/- 151 ml/min, due in part to a fall in RCR (-41.5 +/- 12.9 ml/min), but mostly due to a fall in "rest of the body" (total renal) clearance of ANP. The reduced GFR accounted for virtually all the fall in RCR. Normal plasma ANP half-life was 59.6 +/- 7.9 s. In conclusion, MCR of ANP was very high, approaching the cardiac output, suggesting that most of ANP is cleared in one circulation through peripheral tissues. GFR contributed significantly to RCR (approximately 30%) but the contribution of the kidney to whole body MCR was small relative to rest of the body clearance of ANP.
