This research study explored the potential of comics within an art therapy and narrative therapy framework. The process of depicting a past problem as a single image was compared to the process of depicting the same problem as a comic. This study worked with 15 normally functioning adults to compare the effectiveness of the two formats (comics vs. single image) in processing a past problem or challenge. Participants evaluated these two formats through a survey and a brief verbal interview. The quantitative data from the survey and the qualitative data from the interview were analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the comic format as compared to the single image format. The art-based data collected from participants’ single images and comics was also analyzed for unique characteristics the comic format evoked. All interactions with participants took place virtually over Zoom to ensure the safety of participants and the researcher during the COVID-19 pandemic. Analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data indicated that participants responded positively towards the comic format. The comic format seemed especially effective at facilitating the narrative therapy technique of deconstruction. These results support the study’s hypothesis that the comic format is as effective or more effective than the single image format in eliciting a narrative from a past problem or challenge. The art-based data suggested that the comic format evokes unique representations of time and movement in participants’ narratives. The findings of this study strongly suggest that creating comics or sequential art has potential for use in an art therapy setting, particularly in helping clients process past problems or challenges.

Different image formats are available in the world today which are used for various purposes, this paper elaborates the Ontology of different Image File Formats and their various applications. Digital images are saved in various Image File Formats which have different properties and features which are ideal for a particular use. A digital image is primarily classified into two types, raster or vector type. Image format elucidate how the information in the image will be stored. Image file format is a systematic way of storing and arranging digital images. Image file format can store data in compressed format (which may be lossy or lossless), uncompressed format or a vector format. Some Image format are suitable for a particular purpose while some are not. TIFF Image type is good for printing whereas PNG or JPG, are best for web. Analysis of the basic Image File Format have been carried out practically and the result is displayed in the coming section

The spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia is massive in terms of sufferers. This article aims to seek how national photo news agency ANTARA visualized the pandemic as part of contribution to COVID-19 research in the communication field. By utilizing thematic analysis and qualitative approach, the researchers want to identify, analyze, organize, describe, and report particular themes within an extensive data set of 466 photojournalism. The photos collected from www.antarafoto.com, start from 1 May until 12 May 2020. The finding shows that ANTARA visualized the current Indonesian condition of facing COVID-19 in 8 main themes, determined the countless efforts of ANTARA photojournalists working with a new protocol, and simultaneously also face the new resistance from society. The most popular theme produced by ANTARA photojournalists is economics (183 photos), Social (164), and health (80). Discussion on the most popular is divided into specific topics, namely location, subject’s gender, photographic approach, image format, and news photo category. By utilizing visual ethics on the field, photojournalists communicate the symbols and reality of the real world into a frame to change people’s views about COVID-19 amid the increasingly uncontrolled infodemic flow.

As part of research on technology for automatic conversion of image-format piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) into digital P&ID, the present study proposes a method for recognizing various types of lines and flow arrows in image-format P&ID. The proposed method consists of three steps. In the first step of preprocessing, the outer border and title box in the diagram are removed. In the second step of detection, continuous lines are detected, and then line signs and flow arrows indicating the flow direction are detected. In the third step of post-processing, using the results of line sign detection, continuous lines that require changing of the line type are determined, and the line types are adjusted accordingly. Then, the recognized lines are merged with flow arrows. For verification of the proposed method, a prototype system was used to conduct an experiment of line recognition. For the nine test P&IDs, the average precision and recall were 96.14% and 89.59%, respectively, showing high recognition performance.

Persistent memory’s (PM) byte-addressability and high capacity will also make it emerging for virtualized environment. Modern virtual machine monitors virtualize PM using either I/O virtualization or memory virtualization. However, I/O virtualization will sacrifice PM’s byte-addressability, and memory virtualization does not get the chance of PM image management. In this article, we enhance QEMU’s memory virtualization mechanism. The enhanced system can achieve both PM’s byte-addressability inside virtual machines and PM image management outside the virtual machines. We also design pcow , a virtual machine image format for PM, which is compatible with our enhanced memory virtualization and supports storage virtualization features including thin-provisioning, base image, snapshot, and striping. Address translation is performed with the help of the Extended Page Table, thus much faster than image formats implemented in I/O virtualization. We also optimize pcow considering PM’s characteristics. We perform exhaustive performance evaluations on an x86 server equipping with Intel’s Optane DC persistent memory. The evaluation demonstrates that our scheme boosts the overall performance by up to 50× compared with qcow2, an image format implemented in I/O virtualization, and brings almost no performance overhead compared with the native memory virtualization. The striping feature can also scale-out the virtual PM’s bandwidth performance.

Identification of the plant diseases is that the key to prevent the losses within the yield and quantity of the agricultural product. The studies of the plant diseases mean the studies of visually observable patterns seen on the plant. Health monitoring and disease detection on plant is incredibly critical for sustainable agriculture. It’s very difficult to watch the plant diseases manually. It requires tremendous amount of labor, expertise within the plant diseases, and also require the excessive quantity. Hence, image processing is used for the detection of plant diseases by capturing the pictures of the leaves and comparing it with the data sets. The data sets comprise of different plant within the image format. Except detection users are directed to an e-commerce website where different pesticides with its rate and usage directions are displayed. This website is efficiently used for comparing the MRP’s of varied pesticides and buy the desired one for the detected disease. This paper aims to support and help the green house farmers in an efficient way.

Currently available 360° cameras normally capture several images covering a scene in all directions around a shooting point. The captured images are spherical in nature and are mapped to a two-dimensional plane using various projection methods. Many projection formats have been proposed for 360° videos. However, standards for a quality assessment of 360° images are limited. In this paper, various projection formats are compared to explore the problem of distortion caused by a mapping operation, which has been a considerable challenge in recent approaches. The performances of various projection formats, including equi-rectangular, equal-area, cylindrical, cube-map, and their modified versions, are evaluated based on the conversion causing the least amount of distortion when the format is changed. The evaluation is conducted using sample images selected based on several attributes that determine the perceptual image quality. The evaluation results based on the objective quality metrics have proved that the hybrid equi-angular cube-map format is the most appropriate solution as a common format in 360° image services for where format conversions are frequently demanded. This study presents findings ranking these formats that are useful for identifying the best image format for a future standard.

Subject. The article deals with the forecast of the population of the Tyva Republic in the short term, based on correlation and regression analysis. Objectives. The aim is to forecast the population of the Tyva Republic, using the correlation and regression analysis. Methods. The study draws on the correlation and regression analysis, as one of the methods of multivariate statistical analysis, in which the form and intensity of relationship are presented in the form of mathematical equations and formulas. We also apply methods of comparison, dynamics, table and image format of visualization of the study results. Results. The correlation and regression analysis provides forecast data relating to the population of the Tyva Republic for 2020, which is very close to the actual population for this year. The analysis of indicators for development of the population revealed an annual increase, despite the declining fertility rates and unstable trend in mortality. The paper estimates the parameters of the regression equation, which describes the relationship between fertility, mortality, migration and population size. The findings may help create programs for demographic policy, socio-economic development of the territory, improvement of living standards in the region. Conclusions. The use of correlation and regression analysis will serve as a fairly reliable method to solve the problem. The study unveils significant factors that affect the growth or decline of population in the region.
