The goal of the research is to gain insights into the characteristics of the items in the mathematics national examination, the attributes on which the items were formulated and the result of a conceptual error diagnosis of the mathematics materials based on the result of the junior high school mathematics national examination. This is quantitative descriptive research. The data were collected from 3,079 grade-nine students of junior high schools who took the National Examination in the academic year of 2015/2016. The sample was established randomly based on the package code of the examination which is P0C5520 with 574 students as the examinees. Documentation method was applied in collecting the data. The result of the research shows that – upon the implementation of the classical test theory – there are 16 items in ‘difficult’ category, 24 in ‘intermediate’ category, and no items in ‘easy’ category. Furthermore, upon the implementation of the item response theory, the result shows that 28 items are in ‘good’ category and 12 items are in ‘poor’ category. In addition, there are 50 attributes on which the Junior High School Mathematics National Examination test (package P0C520) is formulated. Four attributes are content attributes and the rest (46) are process skill attributes. The result of the diagnosis shows that there are 11 types of errors made by the students when trying to complete the content items. Most of the errors are conceptual errors related to the geometric materials especially in the sub-materials of polyhedron, triangles, and quadrangles.

The influence of student opinions stating that the UN is important and not important to the 2018 UN results even though the UN is not a determinant of graduation is proven. This means that there is a significant influence (P <0,000) of the student's opinions towards the 2018 National Examination results for subjects: Indonesian, English, Mathematics, and Science, (Sig. 0,000). Most of the SMP / MTs students amount to 199.222 (90.7%) stated that the National Examination was important, while students who stated that the UN was not important were 20.340 (9.3%) students. The conclusion is that there is an influence of the junior high school students’ opinion about the importance of the National Examination towards the 2018 UN results even though the National Examination is not a determinant of graduation.

The purpose of this study is to determine the tendencies of learning in Lampung Province especially at junior high school level. Subjects of this study are all result of national examination data for junior high school in 2017 and 2018 in Lampung Province. The method of this study using model analysis of maximum spanning tree (MST) graph assisted by descriptive and inferential statistics technique. The data obtained are analysed using descriptive statistical analysis to find out the basic information of the data and inferential statistical analysis to get the value of coefficient correlation. Then, the MST graph is formed using Kruskal’s algorithm by interpreting the vertices as a subject and the edges as the value of coefficient correlation. The subject that have the closest relationship to any subject is a graph vertex with the greatest degree. Based on the MST graph model, the result of this study shows that the subject which has closest relationship with another subject is Science in 2017, while in 2018 are English and Mathematics. Based on these result and relevant research, the conclusion shows that Science and Mathematics to be the centre for the national examination of junior high school in 2017 and 2018 in Lampung Province.
