In recent developments, the ASU HB5 has been modified so that the timing, positioning, and scanning of the finely focused electron probe can be entirely controlled by a host computer. This made the asynchronized handshake possible between the HB5 STEM and the image processing system which consists of host computer (PDP 11/34), DeAnza image processor (IP 5000) which is interfaced with a low-light level TV camera, array processor (AP 400) and various peripheral devices. This greatly facilitates the pattern recognition technique initiated by Monosmith and Cowley. Software called NANHB5 is under development which, instead of employing a set of photo-diodes to detect strong spots on a TV screen, uses various software techniques including on-line fast Fourier transform (FFT) to recognize patterns of greater complexity, taking advantage of the sophistication of our image processing system and the flexibility of computer software.

The tidal current energy generation system, which works underwater and is interfered by electrical transmission during the process of data communication, has field update requirements but cannot directly use In-System Programming (ISP) to update, so a remote multi-processor updating system is developed based on ISP and CAN bus. This system consists of a shore station host computer, master controller and the slaves. The host computer transmits the HEX file to the master controller via CAN bus, and the master controller updates the appointed slave by ISP. This paper studies retransmission mechanism and ISP process. The system avoids failed update caused by data channel interference through separating the HEX file transmission and the ISP process.

The expressway intelligent traffic control system based on S7-200 series Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) was introduced in this paper.PLC has strong adaptability in the complex environment and rich internal timer resources, it is easily to realize accuracy controlling the traffic lights, specially for multi-crossroads.PLC analyzed and processed the signals of the body flow, speed, vehicle size and other data by the sense coil, then transmitting the information to the host computer. The host computer might automatically adjust the length of time from the final signal to achieve intelligent scientific management of traffic lights.

This paper describes the research and implementation of ground source heat pump unit remote real-time monitoring system, researches in remote real-time monitoring system's overall design, hardware design, software design and implementation of OPC communication. The host computer takes advantage of the human-computer interaction interface of configuration software to achieve the remote real-time monitoring for ground source heat pump unit's running state; the lower computer uses data collector to intensively collect the data which is measured by field measuring instruments, and to achieve remote data transmission based on Ethernet, and then to carry out the communication between the host computer and the lower computer via OPC technology. The results show that the system achieves remote real-time monitoring of ground source heat pump unit, and is stable, easy to operate and provides a reliable basis for the actual energy saving effect's evaluation of ground source heat pump system.

The process of building environmental information perception can be constructed with wireless sensor network (WSN) expediently. A WSN based information acquisition system for building running environment is described in this paper. The CPU of host computer in the system is Loongson2F and wireless nodes in the system are implemented as Telsob nodes. Because the price of wireless node is low, the hardware cost of the desired system is decreased evidently and the security of the desired system is enhanced because the CPU of the host is native. With those features, the application scenario of the desired system is extended widely. To verify the suitability of the using of Collection Tree Protocol (CTP) in construction of the WSN in the desired information acquisition system, the performance of the CTP based WSN deployed in public building space for environment information acquiring are tested and solutions for some key problems in the construction and the maintenance of the CTP based WSN are given in this paper too.

A radar target simulation system based on DRFM is designed in this paper ,in this system, the radar signal that is amplified and conversioned by the receive analog circuits is directly sampled by the ADC of DRFM, then the sampled data is stored in QDR2 SRAM array. When need to generate radar target simulation signal, the radar signal data is read from the QDR2 SRAM array and synthesis radar target simulation signal with the target characteristic parameters provided by the host computer. It can be widely used in various radar simulator occasions.

Abstract This paper describes the application of multimedia and virtual reality technology to a multiple wheeled mobile robot system. The system is designed for teleoperation of a variety of highway maintenance and construction tasks, such as automated highway pavement crack sealing. Each robot is tethered to a support truck through linkages, and has its own embedded controller for motion control and posture sensing. A host computer is dedicated to communicate with the robots and to provide a multimedia interface to the operator. A video camera is mounted above the robots’ workspace and live video is taken to the host computer’s video capture card which supports video overlay. The live video of the robot workspace is then overlaid on the robots’ control window and provides an augmented reality for crack detection, path planning, and robot monitoring. By mapping live video on the computer generated interactive robot animation, the operator can simply control any robot through finger motion on a touch screen. The host computer can also provide a virtual environment providing the operator with a sense that he is sitting on the robot, allowing the robot to be easily controlled with a joystick. This paper shows the manner in which fast growing and inexpensive multimedia PC technology, virtual reality concepts, and the newest programming tools like Visual C++ 4.0 and OpenGL 1.1 for Windows 95/NT can be used to build an integrated interactive monitoring and control interface allowing ease in teleoperation of a multiple robot system thus significantly improving operational performance.

Although the Internet has no cross-organizational, financial, or operational management responsible for the entire Internet, certain administrative tasks are coordinated centrally. Among the most important organizational tasks that require global regulation is the management of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and their corresponding domain names. The IP address consists of an existing 32 bit (IP4) or 128 bit (IP6) sequence of digits and is the actual physical network address by which routing on the Internet takes place and which will ensure that the data packets reach the correct host computer.
