Abstract The heat capacity of lithium tungstate single crystal (Li2WO4) was measured for the first time in the temperature range of 319-997 K. The experiments were carried out by DSC calorimetry. The Li2WO4 single crystal was first grown by low-temperature-gradient Czochralski technique with weight control. The temperature dependence of Li2WO4 heat capacity in the temperature range 319-997 K was monotonic. According to results of our studies, there were no phase transitions in Li2WO4 in the investigated temperature range.

Abstract For the first time, single crystals of undoped lithium tungstate and lithium tungstate doped by 1.25% molybdenum were grown by the low-temperature-gradient Czochralski technique. The standard formation enthalpies, lattices enthalpies, stabilization energies, and the heat capacity were determined in the temperature range of 320-997 K. The lattice enthalpy dependence on Mo content was constructed.

The termophisical properties, namely, the temperature dependence of thermal conductivity, thermal resistance and heat capacity of the allays compositions (2Bi2O3∙B2O3)100-x (2Bi2O3∙3GeO2)x in the (300–600) K temperature range have ligated been invest. An increase in thermal conductivity χ(T) above 500 K is probably associated with the softening of alloys and the presence of blurred phase transitions, which are accompanied by partial breaking of chemical bonds. It was revealed that the heat capacity in alloys of the compositions (2Bi2O3∙B2O3)100-x (2Bi2O3∙3GeO2)x increases with an increase in the GeO2 concentration. In the studied samples, that showed their own disorder during solidification, the thermal conductivity is strongly reduced due to the enhancement of the anharmonicity of phonon – phonon interactions. İn turn a small "disorder" introduced by defects due to the difference in masses is not noticeable against the background of the huge "disorder" inherent in oxide substances

Single crystals of lithium zinc titanate (Li2ZnTi3O8) were grown in a double-mirror type optical floating-zone furnace for the first time. Single crystals were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and Laue measurements. The ionic conductivity of the single crystals was measured in the temperature range of 400–700 K. Below 600 K, the ionic conductivity of the single crystal is one to two orders of magnitude higher than that of polycrystalline Li2ZnTi3O8. In the temperature range of 550–600 K, the temperature dependence of the ionic conductivity shows non-Arrhenius behaviour.

Solid solutions of PbZr1−xTixO3 (PZT) are one of the most widely used piezoelectric materials with perovskite structure. Despite the decades of research, the phase diagram of PZT reported in 1971 has not been resolved yet. Recently, it turned out that single crystals of good quality of these solid solutions can be grown. By means of top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) technique, we succeeded to grow a single PbZr0.87Ti0.13O3 crystal. Hence, a partial verification of the diagram could be performed through investigations of the optical, dielectric, pyroelectric and elastic properties of this crystal, in a wide temperature range. The obtained results confirmed that the PbZr0.87Ti0.13O3 crystal undergoes a sequence of phase transitions, such as those observed in ceramics of similar chemical composition. However, additional anomalies of investigated physical properties were observed and discussed. Moreover, the influence of electric field on optical properties has been investigated for the first time and has proven the existence of local polar character of the phase above TC in a limited temperature range.

The temperature dependence of the specific heat of the single crystal Pb(In[Formula: see text]Nb[Formula: see text])O3-Pb(Mg[Formula: see text]Nb[Formula: see text])O3-PbTiO3 (PIN-PMN-PT) was obtained at 80–500[Formula: see text]K by means of ac-calorimetry, and comparison with the calorimetric data for PMN was made, allowing one to determine absolute values of the specific heat of PIN-PMN-PT. For the high-temperature region ([Formula: see text][Formula: see text]K), the background heat capacity was calculated, the anomalies of the heat capacity for both compounds were determined, and the hump of the temperature dependence of specific heat PIN-PMN-PT was detected for the first time.

AbstractThe temperature dependences of the heat capacity ( C _ p ) and the thermal conductivity (κ) in the temperature range from 300 to 773 K of polycrystalline gadolinium sulfide samples (γ-GdS_ y ) with the deviation of the composition from the integer stoichiometric were studied. It was found that the thermal conductivity of gadolinium sulfides decreases monotonically and reaches 0.74 W/(m K) at T = 773 K for the composition y = 1.479, which is much lower than for the known single-crystal samples. The influence of morphological defects (boundaries of crystallites and dislocations) on the intensity of scattering of phonons is studied. It has been established that ceramic samples of gadolinium sulphides have a large heat capacity and a lower thermal conductivity, in comparison with monocrystalline samples of the same composition.

Problem formulating. The features of linear and nonlinear conductivity, magnetic conductivity, thermopower, and the Hall effect observed on TiS3 whiskers indicate phase transitions to a state of CDW in this compound, but there is no direct evidence yet. The study of photoconductivity would allow us to learn more about the nature of these phase transitions. Goal. Study of the effect of radiation in the range from near-IR to near-UV on the conductivity of single-crystal TiS3 whiskers at 4.2 <T<300 K and search for features of photoconductivity in the temperature range of the suggested phase transitions. Result. Features of the photoconductivity of TiS3 at temperatures of 50 K and 15 K, at which the −dlnσ/d(1/T) maxima were previously observed, are found. A decrease in photoconductivity at these temperatures indicates a change in the electronic spectrum, which may be associated with the formation of CDW. Practical meaning. In the case of developing TiS3-based photosensors, it is important to study the photoconductivity in a wide temperature range.
