Abstract Differentiated service for packets entering the network is available through packet matching. Network security and differentiated services mean an inevitable choice for routers. Recursive data flow matching algorithm (RFC) is a high performance packet matching algorithm. However, with the increase of rule dimension and scale in the rule base, system memory consumption is unavoidable. This paper lowers memory consumption via improvement on RFC by dividing the rule base into several subsets and storing each rule in a separate subset. In addition, a variety of methods are used to streamline the RFC data structure for further improvement in algorithm speed and memory performance. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm of RFC greatly reduces the overall memory consumption of RFC, while greatly improving package matching performance.

Dietary carotenoids, plant pigments with anti-oxidant properties, accumulate in neural tissue and are often found in lower concentrations among individuals with obesity. Given previous evidence of negative associations between excess adiposity and memory, it is possible that greater carotenoid status may confer neuroprotective effects among persons with overweight or obesity. This study aimed to elucidate relationships between carotenoids assessed in diet, serum, and the macula (macular pigment optical density (MPOD)) and relational memory among adults who are overweight or obese. Adults aged 25–45 years (N = 94) completed a spatial reconstruction task. Task performance was evaluated for accuracy of item placement during reconstruction relative to the location of the item during the study phase. Dietary carotenoids were assessed using 7-day diet records. Serum carotenoids were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography. Hierarchical linear regression analyses were used to determine the relationship between carotenoids and task performance. Although initial correlations indicated that dietary lutein, beta-carotene, and serum beta-carotene were positively associated with memory performance, these relationships were not sustained following adjustment for age, sex, and BMI. Serum lutein remained positively associated with accuracy in object binding and inversely related to misplacement error after controlling for covariates. Macular carotenoids were not related to memory performance. Findings from this study indicate that among the carotenoids evaluated, lutein may play an important role in hippocampal function among adults who are overweight or obese.

The explosive growth of data and information has increasingly motivated scientific and technological endeavors toward ultra-high-density data storage (UHDDS) applications. Herein, a donor−acceptor (D–A) type small conjugated molecule containing benzothiadiazole (BT) is prepared (NIBTCN), which demonstrates multilevel resistive memory behavior and holds considerable promise for implementing the target of UHDDS. The as-prepared device presents distinct current ratios of 105.2/103.2/1, low threshold voltages of −1.90 V and −3.85 V, and satisfactory reproducibility beyond 60%, which suggests reliable device performance. This work represents a favorable step toward further development of highly-efficient D−A molecular systems, which opens more opportunities for achieving high performance multilevel memory materials and devices.

Abstract One of the classic systems in dynamics and control is the inverted pendulum, which is known as one of the topics in control engineering due to its properties such as nonlinearity and inherent instability. Different approaches are available to facilitate and automate the design of fuzzy control rules and their associated membership functions. Recently, different approaches have been developed to find the optimal fuzzy rule base system using genetic algorithm. The purpose of the proposed method is to set fuzzy rules and their membership function and the length of the learning process based on the use of a genetic algorithm. The results of the proposed method show that applying the integration of a genetic algorithm along with Mamdani fuzzy system can provide a suitable fuzzy controller to solve the problem of inverse pendulum control. The proposed method shows higher equilibrium speed and equilibrium quality compared to static fuzzy controllers without optimization. Using a fuzzy system in a dynamic inverted pendulum environment has better results compared to definite systems, and in addition, the optimization of the control parameters increases the quality of this model even beyond the simple case.

Dynamic allocation of the resources for optimum utilization and throughput maximization is one of the most important fields of research nowadays. In this process the available resources are allocated in such a way that they are maximally utilized to enhance the overall system throughput. In this chapter a similar problem is approached which is found in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) environment, in which the transmission parameters namely the code rate, modulation scheme and power are adapted in such a way that overall system's data rate is maximized with a constrained bit error rate and transmit power. A Fuzzy Rule Base System (FRBS) is proposed for adapting the code rate and modulation scheme while Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm are used for adaptive power allocation. The proposed scheme is compared with other schemes in the literature including the famous Water-filling technique which is considered as a benchmark in the adaptive loading paradigm. Supremacy of the proposed technique is shown through computer simulations.

Ceratonia siliqua L. is a Mediterranean medicinal plant traditionally cultivated for its ethnopharmacological benefits, such as antidiarrheal, antidiabetic, enhance acetylcholine, antioxidant, antiatherosclerotic, and for its possible anti-neurodegenerative potential. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the chemical composition, as well as the cognitive-enhancing, anxiolytic, and antioxidant activities of the aqueous extract from C. siliqua (CsAE) leaves against 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) zebrafish Parkinson’s disease (PD) model. CsAE (0.1, 0.3, and 1 mg/L) was administered by immersion to zebrafish (Danio rerio) for eight consecutive days and one hour before each behavioral test of each day, while 6-OHDA (250 µM) treatment was supplied one day before the novel tank diving test (NTT). Qualitative and quantitative analyses were performed by the ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) analysis. The memory performance was evaluated through the NTT and Y-maze tests. Additionally, the in vitro and in vivo antioxidant status and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity was also assessed. Our finds demonstrated that CsAE presented positive antioxidant and anti-AChE activities, which contributed to the improvement of cognitive function in the 6-OHDA zebrafish PD model.
