Laser-induced magnetization switching in GdFe ferrimagnets strongly depends on the pulse duration. To gain insight into the ferrimagnetic switching process, Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert (LLG) spin dynamic modeling is performed at an atomistic-level with two sub-lattice systems. The switching dynamics triggered by laser pulses can be considered as two stages: Demagnetization stage by the laser pulse heating and re-magnetization at the cooling down stage after the pulse impulsion. By tuning the laser pulse duration, the intensity of demagnetization can be well controlled, by which the subsequent magnetization switching during the cooling process can be obtained. The simulation results indicate that the occurrence of the transient ferromagnetic-like (TFL) state is necessary during the magnetization switching process. Furthermore, the thermal temperature and heating time play an important role for the ferrimagnetic switching. In the overheating region, the random switching behavior appears because the TFL state is uncontrollable.

Encouraging consumers to switch to lower-rate mortgages is important both for the individual consumer’s finances and for functioning competitive markets, but switching rates are low. Given the complexity of mortgages, one potential regulatory intervention that may increase switching rates is to provide independent advice on how to select good mortgage products and how to navigate the switching process. Working with a government consumer protection agency, we conducted an experiment with mortgage-holders to test whether such advice alters perceptions of switching. The experiment tested how (i) the attributes of the offer, (ii) perceptions about the switching process, (iii) individual feelings of competence and (iv) comprehension of the product affect willingness to switch to better offers, both before and after reading the official advice. The advice made consumers more sensitive to interest rate decreases, especially at longer terms. It also increased consumers’ confidence in their ability to select good offers. Overall, the findings imply that advice from policymakers can change perceptions and increase switching rates. Moreover, the experiment demonstrates how lab studies can contribute to behaviourally-informed policy development.

Abstract In this paper, we revealed p+/n-well and n+/p-well junction characteristic changes caused by electron beam (EB) irradiation. Most importantly, we found a device contact side junction characteristic is relatively sensitive to EB irradiation than its whole device characteristic; an order of magnitude excess current appears at low forward bias region after 1kV EB acceleration voltage irradiation (Vacc). Furthermore, these changes were well interpreted by our Monte Carlo simulation results, the Shockley-Read Hall (SRH) model and the Generation-Recombination (G-R) center trap theory. In addition, four essential examining items were suggested and proposed for EB irradiation damage origins investigation and evaluation. Finally, by taking advantage of the excess current phenomenon, a scanning electron microscope (SEM) passive voltage contrast (PVC) fault localization application at n-FET region was also demonstrated.

Abstract Introduction Optogenetics is a low-invasive, flexible and highly selective intervention that enables electrical excitation with light on myocardium overexpressing light-sensitive proteins. Optical illumination can control the simultaneous exciting of the whole myocardium under the spot, which is more conducive to recovery from electrical disturbance to sinus rhythm. Purpose We explored optogenetic defibrillation for different illumination parameters how to affect defibrillation rates and the possible mechanism of continuous illumination defibrillation. Methods Systemic delivery via right jugular vein injection of (AAV9-CAG-hChR2(H134R)-mCherry) were performed in juvenile SD rats to achieve the light sensitive protein Channelrhodopsin-2 (ChR2) transfer throughout the whole heart. We intubated and ventilated rats, opened chest and recorded the ECG. After ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery, ventricular arrhythmia was induced by electrical burst stimulation (10v, 50Hz, 2s). Cardiac epicardium illumination with 470nm blue laser was performed to investigate the effects of optogenetic defibrillation and its underlying mechanism. Every heart accepted 30 pulses of 20ms duration on 8Hz to test the light intensity threshold for 1:1 capture. Different illumination modes of multiple light intensity (2,4,8,10,20 times threshold intensity), pulse duration (20, 50, 200, 500 and 1000ms) and illumination position (RV apex, RV, RVOT, septum, LV) were applied in each attempt for 4 repetitions with 1 s interval. Results We demonstrated that ventricular arrhythmias could be terminated by illumination of the right ventricle at 20 times threshold intensity in 1s (figure A) with the successful defibrillation rate of 95±2.673% (mean ±SEM; N=7). Herein, the successful optogenetic defibrillation rate was strongly depending on light intensity (N=5, n=50 episodes, p=0.0118) and duration of illumination (N=5, n=50 episodes, p<0.0001) (figure B.C). Notably when there were higher intensity and longer pulse duration, the higher defibrillation rate appeared. There was no significant difference in the defibrillation rate among different illumination positions (N=5, n=25episodes per position, p=0.1177) (figure D). To explore the underlying mechanism of optogenetic defibrillation, we performed the same illumination mode during sinus rhythm in 2 rats (figure E. F. G). We observed that higher light intensity and longer pulse duration were more conducive to induce an episode of higher frequency focal excitement. Views of optogenetic defibrillation Conclusions We demonstrated that optogenetic defibrillation is a highly effective intervention and the possible mechanism is partly attributed to overdrive suppression. We believe that optogenetic approach is potentially to be translated into more efficient and pain-free clinical termination of ventricular arrhythmia. Background: The introduction of trastuzumab biosimilars in clinical practice plays an important role in promoting the sustainability of healthcare systems. By contrast, the switching process can be challenging to the clinics. This survey describes the switching process at a National Cancer Institute over a period of 2 years. Methods: Data regarding all trastuzumab-based regimens for breast cancer (BC) from 1 January 2019 and 31 December 2020 were extracted from both adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reporting systems and electronic systems involved in inventory management, prescribing, dispensing, and administration. Both patients under monotherapy and combination treatment regimens were included. There were no exclusion criteria. Results and Conclusions: Overall 354 patients received at least one trastuzumab-based regimen for a total of 493 lines of treatment and 5769 administrations. Biosimilar were used in 34.3% of trastuzumab-based treatments. No differences between biosimilars and reference drug have been observed in terms of ADRs. The effective cost-saving of the first 2 years is greater than EUR 800,000 and it is estimated to increase over time.
