Using Spatial Technology Case Study in Coastal Areas of LangsaAbstract. Mangrove forests in coastal areas of Langsa are increasingly threatened. The misuse of mangrove forests that have been carried out at the end-time period has caused various damage, causing the critical level to be higher. One effort that can be done to overcome this problem is to utilize spatial technology. Spatial technology is one of the important media for carrying out extensive development planning and natural resource management The purpose of this study is to determine the critical level of mangrove forests so that recovery efforts can be done for mangrove forests with highest criticality level. The criteria used to determine the critical level of mangrove forests are the type of land use, forest canopy density, and soil resistance to abrasion. The results showed that the highest critical level of mangrove forest occurred in the eastern coastal areas of Langsa with very critical category is 453.25 ha or 42.16%, mangrove forests included in the critical category is 1,108.99 ha or 44%, and those classified to the non-critical category is 2,337.78 ha or 56.70%.

Previous studies indicated that coastal areas are vulnerable for mosquito-borne diseases. Socio-economic limitations and tidal flooding result in sanitation problems for coastal settlements. Mangrove ecosystems grow on tropical and subtropical coastal areas which can be mosquito breeding and resting places. This study aimed to explore the evidence of the contribution of mangrove ecosystem conditions to mosquito population through a literature review. Articles collection was done by using Scopus, SpringerLink and EBSCO databases. The inclusion criteria in selecting articles to be reviewed are publications in 2010-2020 and containing the words "mangrove" and "mosquito" in the tittle. The exclusion criteria were article in press status, review form (non-original research), retracted status, and the unrelated topics. It was obtained 6 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Evidence of the association between the dynamics of the mangrove ecosystem and mosquito density is inconsistent. Following future study is needed to confirm and clarify the results of this review, using methodologies and confounding controls that are appropriate both epidemiologically, spatially, and experimentally.

The coastal areas are vulnerable areas to disaster threats, especially the geological hazards of earthquakes accompanied by tsunamis. Palu City, which is located on the west coast of Sulawesi, experienced a natural disaster of an earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction on September 28, 2018. Based on the Map of Disaster Prone Index in Central Sulawesi Province, Palu City is a tsunami-prone area that is crossed by the Palu-Koro Fault. Tsunami disaster mitigation efforts in coastal areas can be done by planting mangrove ecosystems as a green barrier. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the coastal landscape in Palu City and plan the landscape of tsunami mitigation based on mangrove ecosystems in Palu City. The method used spatial analysis method and descriptive method, as well as the research stage, consists of preparation, data analysis, data synthesis, and landscape planning stage. The basic concept of tsunami mitigation landscape planning is to reduce or eliminate disaster risk in coastal areas based on mangrove ecosystems. The concept of spatial pattern concept consists of high hazard zones, medium hazard zones, and low hazard zones. The concept of vegetation refers to the diversity of mangrove and native plant species as green open spaces and green barriers.

Kata Kunci: edukasi masyarakat, pelestarian, daerah pesisirAbstractTanjungpinang City is the capital of Riau Islands Province which is also a coastal area. As a developing city, the population density in Tanjungpinang City continues to increase significantly. The impact due to dense population is the conversion of land as residential land, industry, facilities and infrastructure as well as other activities. One of the functions of land conversion is the conversion of mangrove areas which causes damage to the ecosystem in the coastal and marine areas. Lack of knowledge and awareness of the impact of damage to mangrove ecosystems in coastal areas and a lack of understanding of efforts to conserve mangrove ecosystems causes these problems to continue to occur. Community service provided by the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) community service team is aimed at the people of the city of Tanjungpinang with education methods to the Tanjungpinang community to provide knowledge about the important role of mangrove ecosystems in coastal areas, increase public awareness and concern in preserving coastal areas and encourage the community to participate in mangrove conservation. Community service activities went well. This can be seen from the desire of the community to join in signing environmental pledges.Key Word: community education, preservation, coastal area

Data obtained from licenses of spearfishers and surveys conducted in 2004 and 2017 allowed for the analysis, for the first time, of the practice of spearfishing in the Madeira archipelago. Only a small percentage of the population practices spearfishing, mostly local young men. Most of them practice the activity with a partner throughout most of the year and along most of the island's coastal areas, although preferentially along the North and Southeast coast. Results show how, in recent years, despite the population of spearfishers decreasing, the abundance in the annual catch potentially increased, probably due to the higher investment of time in this activity. It has been observed that many fishers complement their catches with manual collecting of invertebrates. Overall, 40 teleost fishes and also 4 crustaceans and 8 molluscs were identified. The most frequently captured fish species were parrotfish and white seabream, while limpets were the most collected invertebrates in both selected periods.

Hormonal treatment of cows at the coastal region of Barisal district of Bangladesh was performed to assess the improvement of pregnancy rate. A total of 100 cows and heifers with irregular history of cyclicity were selected randomly and divided into five treatment groups. The groups were A (treated with anthelmintic), B (treated with anthelmintic, vitamin ADE and multivitamin powder), C (treated with PGF2α), D (treated with GnRH) and E (treated with GnRH and PGF2α). Each group comprised of 20 animals. The age, breed and parity of experimental cows were considered during treatment. In the study, the cows treated with both GnRH and PGF2α (group E) showed significantly (p<0.05) higher estrus (80%) and pregnancy rate (60%) than that of group A, B, C and D. The overall estrus rates of local and crossbred cows were 64% and 70%, respectively and the pregnancy rates were 40 and 52%, respectively. The crossbred cows responded significantly (p<0.05) to hormonal treatment than that of local cows. Parity-2 cows showed higher estrus sign than that of other parities. However, the pregnancy rates were higher significantly (p<0.05) in parity-2 and parity ≥4 cows than that of parity-0, parity-1 and parity-3 cows. The pregnancy rate was also found higher in case of 4 to <5 years old cows than that of 2 to <3, 3 to <4, 5 to <6, and ≥6 years old. It may conclude that the hormonal regimen increases the pregnancy rate as well as decreases the undesired waiting of estrus and conception. Further study with more sample size will reveal the more effective treatment for cows at the coastal areas of Bangladesh.
