AbstractPrescriptive grammar rules are taught in education, generally to ban the use of certain frequently encountered constructions in everyday language. This may lead to hypercorrection, meaning that the prescribed form in one construction is extended to another one in which it is in fact prohibited by prescriptive grammar. We discuss two such cases in Dutch: the hypercorrect use of the comparative particle dan ‘than’ in equative constructions, and the hypercorrect use of the accusative pronoun hen ‘them’ for a dative object. In two experiments, high school students of three educational levels were tested on their use of these hypercorrect forms (nexp1 = 162, nexp2 = 159). Our results indicate an overall large amount of hypercorrection across all levels of education, including pre-university level students who otherwise perform better in constructions targeted by prescriptive grammar rules. We conclude that while teaching prescriptive grammar rules to high school students seems to increase their use of correct forms in certain constructions, this comes at a cost of hypercorrection in others.

The main aim of this paper is to render how university level courses are taught in high school. In fact, we will focus on what styles are used to teach university level courses and illustrate the international contrasts that happen quite frequently. In addition, we will analyse the details of teaching styles that were implemented in the American and the Latvian educational systems. Furthermore, we will discuss what specific teaching styles and innovations work successfully, and what teaching styles and innovations had difficulties and need improvements. In particular, implementing the hands-on teaching and learning styles and repetitive type teaching and learning styles. Moreover, we will also discuss the risk involved with introducing and transforming university level courses and teaching styles with high school students and how to manage these risks.

This paper describes the effort of the Center for Qur’anic Studies (PSQ) Jakarta in counter-radicalism by mediating the Islamic moderation. The initiated programs of the PSQ have been managed for making an equilibrium of the radical movement in the Muslim community. The research argues that the PSQ emphasizes a soft approach to counter-radicalisation by delving into the Quranic values of moderation and tolerance. There are two primary programs of the PSQ: caderization (as a prospective mufasir) and direct preaching. The programs involve various segments of communities conforming to their educational levels or competencies in the Quranic studies. Education for Young Exegetes (Pendidikan Kader Mufasir: PKM) is an important program for master and doctoral students in writing their thesis; Post-Memorization of the Quran (Pasca-Tahfidz) is a program for those who commit to memorize the Quran; the Daurah Bidayatul Mufassir program for undergraduate students;  the Training of Trainer (ToT) program for teachers of the Quran and Islamic preachers; and the Living Quran for high school students. The direct preaching program is designed to provide guidance and assistance to the community in the Friday preaching sermons, seminars, and religious teachings.

Over the past few decades, partnerships and programming between secondary school and post-secondary librarians and libraries have been widely discussed in library literature. These collaborations often exist to help high school students develop information literacy (IL) skills and to provide a smoother transition to university-level research. This paper examines the current high school outreach activities at Ontario university libraries that aim to bridge the gap between high school and post-secondary education. The purpose of this research, conducted through online surveys and interviews with academic librarians in the province, is to provide a snapshot of high school outreach activities and to highlight the benefits and challenges of such programming. It also examines why some libraries no longer offer such activities or programs. This analysis of the variety of outreach activities aims to generate discussion and ideas that academic libraries can use to connect with high school libraries.

ABSTRACT : STRESS TRIGGERING FACTORS IN STUDENTS DURING ONLINE LEARNING This study aimed to explore the problems experienced by students during online learning that cause stress. This research is focused on senior high school students, where they have a bigger responsibility, that is, they will soon enter university level. This research is a qualitative research involving 50 male (n = 7) and female (n = 43) student informants who attend high school (n = 40), and MA (n = 10) in Tanah Datar District. Informants are asked to fill in open and closed questions related to research topics through an online form (google form). The results of the study found that the triggers for academic stress in Tanah Datar was difficulty in doing assignments, not understanding learning materials, and unstable internet networks and insufficient internet quotas. The efforts made to overcome the existing obstacles are asking for help / asking teachers and friends, and trying to find solutions to any problems that arise. Keyword: Stress, Online Learning, High School Students.

AbstractWe discuss a two-week summer course on “Network Science” and “Complex Systems” that we taught for 15 German high-school pupils of ages 16–18. In this course, we covered topics in graph theory, applied network science, programming, and dynamic systems alike. We find that “Network Science” is a well-suited course for introducing students to university-level mathematics. We reflect on difficulties regarding programming exercises and the discussion of more advanced topics in dynamic systems. We make the course material available and encourage fellow network scientists to organize similar outreach events.

In this region, English is mostly learned as the main subject. It starts from elementary school to university level, but most high school graduates cannot speak English even though they have been studying it for three years or more. This stimulated the researcher to create a breakthrough that would make it easier for students to practice their speaking skills as much as possible. The programs consisted of three activities: discussion (hot issues talk), debate forum, and speech presentation. Participants in this study were 50 second-year high school students in Indonesia. They were divided into two groups: experimental and control classes. The experimental class consisted of 25 students who engaged in public speaking activities, while the control class consisted of 25 students who did not participate. The findings of this quantitative analysis showed that members of the experimental class who engaged in public speaking exercises experienced an increase in their English-speaking skills. It can be discovered that public speaking activities can be used as an approach to enhancing the ability of high school students to speak.

Introduction. Due to the worldwide COVID-19 health contingency, school activities in Mexico were suspended, as a result of which students of all educational levels began to carry out their learning activities at home. Objective. Adapt a Socioemotional Skills (SES) Survey to the context of COVID-19 and undertake a diagnosis of the emotional state, stress, and learning experiences of Mexican junior and senior high school students. Method. A test battery was administered to 205 students from nine states in the country from schools where Enseña por México collaborates, and an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted for the SES survey. In addition, a Pearson’s correlation was calculated between SES and stress levels. Results. The EFA yielded four components that explain 51.71% of the sample variance. In addition, statistically significant negative correlations were found between SES and stress in the health field (r = -.316, p
