Academic writing, especially in the health field, is usually an interdisciplinary team effort. This paper highlights some of the trials, tribulations, and benefits of working with co-authors. This includes collaborations and co-authorship between academics from different disciplines, academics of different level of careers, and authors from countries of varying economies i.e., high-income countries (HICs) and from low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). This paper also provides advice in the form of several useful tips to lead authors and co-authors to support collaborative working.

The increase of mental health problems and the need for effective medical health care have led to an investigation of machine learning that can be applied in mental health problems. This paper presents a recent systematic review of machine learning approaches in predicting mental health problems. Furthermore, we will discuss the challenges, limitations, and future directions for the application of machine learning in the mental health field. We collect research articles and studies that are related to the machine learning approaches in predicting mental health problems by searching reliable databases. Moreover, we adhere to the PRISMA methodology in conducting this systematic review. We include a total of 30 research articles in this review after the screening and identification processes. Then, we categorize the collected research articles based on the mental health problems such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and mental health problems among children. Discussing the findings, we reflect on the challenges and limitations faced by the researchers on machine learning in mental health problems. Additionally, we provide concrete recommendations on the potential future research and development of applying machine learning in the mental health field.

The process of knowledge construction, widely discussed in the literature, follows a common structure that encompasses transformation of data into information and then into knowledge, which converges social, technological, organizational, and strategic aspects. The advancement of information technologies and growing global research efforts in the health field has dynamically generated large datasets, thus providing potential innovative solutions to health problems, posing important challenges in selection and interpretation of useful information and possibilities. COVID-19 pandemic has intensified this data generation as results of global efforts, and cooperation has promoted a level of scientific production never experienced before concerning the overcoming of the pandemic. In this context, the search for an effective and safe vaccine that can prevent the spread of this virus has become a common goal of societies, governments, institutions, and companies. These collaborative efforts have contributed to speed up the development of these vaccines at an unprecedented pace in history.

In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 major Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address current economic, social, and environmental challenges. Governments play a key role in achieving the SDGs through advocacy, awareness, and regulation. In this work, the authors focus on SDG 3, “Guarantee a Healthy Life and Promote Well-Being for All Ages.” Specifically, the articulation of citizen participation for health promotion in health schools is reviewed. They have been selected by choosing four schools and a Spanish entity that show how health education can facilitate the development of citizen participation in the field of health. The health schools and their corresponding training programs show the multiplicity of ways that citizens acquire access to the health field, ranging from information to decision-making in the system.

Several people with mental health problems do not receive suitable treatment and often avoid or delay seeking help due to concerns about being treated differently and other practical barriers (for example, services costs and unavailability). The mobile health concept has gained more enthusiasts worldwide exactly because it helps mitigate some of these issues. However, despite the emerging scientific evidence in the last decade that proves the efficacy and safety of these interventions, professionals have shown some doubts and worries about their implementation, especially in the mental health field. Thereby, this chapter provides a review on the subject, presenting several mobile applications for mental health problems and also the expectations and needs of health professionals and users for development and implementation of a mobile application.

This chapter provides an overview of virtual reality (VR) treatment and rehabilitation for mentally ill patients who have committed a crime or are at risk of relapse. The authors focus on the forensic mental health field since this area relates to any individual dealing with a psychiatric condition that is in trouble with the law, whether they be inpatient offenders, outpatient offenders, or inmates at a regular prison. Virtual reality (VR) and its current uses, as well as its benefits and barriers, are presented as a successful and individualized eHealth treatment. In addition, some examples of VR studies that were recently done with these individuals will be presented to show the results of their current approaches, demonstrate their limitations, and figure out possible ways of improvement.

The establishment of psychotherapy and clinical psychology in a Russia is a very complicated and contradictive process. B. D. Karvassarsky has played an essential, key role in the psychotherapy formation as a science and distinct discipline. The article describes the crucial points of this discipline development, presents the main key studies of this mental health field. The Leningrad-Saint-Petersburg psychotherapy school maid a serious impact in the modern Russian neurosology cornerstone issues, that allowed to consider the multidimensional aspects of this pathology. This publication emphasizes the recent research results in this field, makes a deep analysis of the target phenomena understanding in different approaches, other methods integration in personality oriented reconstructive psychotherapy, elaboration of the nosocentric target oriented psychotherapy algorithms and strategies, and also different psychotherapy interventions research.

AbstractHypertension is the increase of blood pressure which is higher than or equal to 140 mmHg at systolic blood pressure and higher or equal to 90 mmHg at diastolic blood pressure. The purpose of this study is to implement actions of progressive muscle relaxant therapy to lower blood pressure on hypertensive patients. This research uses descriptive method and tye subjects of this research are two hypertension clients with blood pressure higher than 140/100 mmHg at Glandang Village, Bantarbolang. Intervention is done by giving progressive muscle relaxation therapy for six days and is done once a day. The result of the study shows a drop in blood pressure on both clients, for client 1 to drop blood pressure from 160/100mmhg to 130/90mmhg and for the second client to drop in blood pressure from 170/100mmhg to 130/100mmhg. The study of the case indicates that progressive muscle relaxation therapy reduces blood pressure on hypertensive people. It is recommended for nurses or people working in health field to provide therapy in order to lower blood pressure in the form of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in hypertensive people.Keywords: Progressive Muscle Relaxation, Hypertension AbstrakHipertensi merupakan penyakit the silent killer yang menyebabkan 1 dari 3 orang dewasa terkena penyakit hipertensi dan diperkirakan 7,5 juta kematian didunia ini akibat hipertensi. Pada umumnya penyakit hipertensi ini tidak disadari oleh penderitanya, 50% penderita hipertensi tidak memperlihatkan pertanda yang pasti, terutama apabila sedang dalam taraf awal. Tujuan studi kasus ini adalah untuk mengaplikasikan tindakan terapi relaksasi otot progresif untuk menurunkan tekanan darah pada penderita hipertensi. Rancangan Karya Tulis Ilmiah ini menggunakan metode studi kasus deskriptif dengan subyek dua klien hipertensi yang mengalami tekanan darah tinggi diatas 140/100mmHg di Desa Glandang Bantarbolang. Intervensi yang dilakukan adalah pemberian terapi relaksasi otot progresif selama enam hari dan dilakukan satu kali sehari. Hasil studi ini menunjukan adanya penurunan tekanan darah pada kedua klien, untuk klien 1 mengalami penurunan tekanan darah dari 160/100mmHg menjadi 130/90mmHg dan untuk klien kedua mengalami penurunan tekanan darah dari 170/100mmHg menjadi 130/90mmHg jadi rata-rata penurunan tekanan darah dari kedua klien adalah untuk tekanan darah sistolik sebanyak 30-40mmHg dan untuk tekanan diastolik sebanyak 10mmHg. Simpulan studi kasus ini menunjukan bahwa terapi relaksasi otot progresif mampu menurunkan tekanan darah pada penderita hipertensi. Saran bagi tenaga kesehatan diharapkan dapat memberikaan tindakan terapi untuk menurunkan tekanan darah yang berupa terapi relaksasi otot progresif pada penderita hipertensi.Kata kunci: Relaksasi Otot Progresif, Hipertensi

Abstract BackgroundThe Africa One Health University Network (AFROHUN) with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has since 2012 conducted pre and in-service One health (OH) trainings with the objective of improving global health security through a well-trained multidisciplinary health workforce. These trainings aim to build OH competencies among participants with the ultimate goal of promoting a multidisciplinary approach to solving global health challenges. Despite these trainings, there is limited documentation of the extent of acquisition and application of the One Health competencies at workplaces. This tracer study established the extent of acquisition and application of the One Health competencies by the AFROHUN-Uganda alumni.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted among a random sample of 182 AFROHUN-Uganda alumni of 2013-2017. A blended approach of interviewer and self-administered was used during data collection. Virtual interviews using zoom and skype, and phone interviews with alumni were conducted when face-to-face interviews were not possible. Data were collected electronically, with the aid of the KoboCollect mobile application, pre-installed on android enabled devices. Data were analysed using STATA14.0.ResultsThe majority of respondents, 78.6% (143/182) had jobs that required application of One Health knowledge and skills, 95.6% (174/182) had learned employable skills from OH activities and 89.6% (163/182) had applied such skills when searching for employment. About 21.7% (34/180) to a very high extent required One Health field-specific theoretical knowledge at their workplaces, 27.4% (43/80) to a very high extent required One Health field-specific practical knowledge/skills, 42.7% (67/180) to a high extent required a change in attitude and perceptions towards working with people from different disciplines, 49.0% (77/180) required collaboration and networking skills, and more than half, 51.0% (80/180) required team building skills.ConclusionThe majority of One Health alumni to a very high extent acquired and applied One Health competences such as teamwork, effective communication, community entry and engagement, report writing and problem-solving skills. This study revealed the significant contribution of the AFROHUN Uganda OH activities towards supportive work environments, and highlights areas of improvement such as supporting the trainees to acquire people-management skills, innovation, and an entrepreneurial mind set.

Medical pluralism does not only mean the presence of multiple therapies but also the variety of health discourses and norms. By analysing the rhetoric of active participants in the Estonian health field, we portray the diverse discourses in defining and positioning complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in relation to biomedicine (BM). On a scale of attitudes, five different positions of CAM and BM emerge. Both ends of the spectrum dominantly represent a system-level view characterized by distinct categories, opposition, and labelling. In between, integrative positions focus more on an individual’s personal needs by combining and “taking the best out of” all available knowledge systems. The presence of these competing discourses poses several challenges for health communication. Meanings offered by CAM-related health approaches are increasingly visible and influential as unlicensed health workers and laypeople contribute more to public communication due to the openness of social media. On the other hand, critics of CAM and proponents of scientific thinking have mobilized to set boundaries to defend the authoritative position of scientific medicine. Our analysis suggests that using system-level categories supports polarization, which could lead people to seek alternative explanations based on their individual experiences, and thus feeding distrust towards medicine and doctors.
