Abstract This study examined the mediating effects of facilitating conditions (FC) on the association between types of social support providers and attitude toward using gerontechnology (AUG) or between types of social support and AUG. The sample was 256 older Koreans having a partner and children (N=256; 66-88 years old; M=69.91; SD=4.19). The dependent variable was AUG in terms of an exoskeleton robot for exercise. There were two kinds of independent variables: 1) four types of social support provider (spouse, children, siblings/relatives, and friends/neighbors), and 2) four types of social support (emotional, instrumental, physical, and financial support). Mediating variable was calculated as the mean of FC from five questions. There were two analytic steps: 1) structural equation modeling with four latent variables about types of social support provider, and 2) path analysis with four types of social support if only for significant providers at the first analysis. The results from the first step of analysis showed that only social support from spouses had a significant effect on AUG via FC to use gerontechnology. In the second step of analysis, emotional support from spouses was associated with the higher level of AUG via FC to use gerontechnology. The findings could shed light on the salience of emotional support from spouses in terms of the positive attitude on technology usage in later life through enhancing FC for technology acceptance.

The following article analyzes the principal factors that have an impact in the adoption of new telecom convergent services, through electronic commerce, that have been explored and studied primarily in developed markets such as the United States and that have been deemed as critical factors in the development and growth of online electronic transactions. Specifically, factors and latent variables of this study derive from the models of Technology Acceptance (Davis, 1989) and Diffusion of Innovations (Rogers, 2003). A summary of past empirical studies is provided deriving from the aforementioned theoretical models followed by results of an exploratory field study comprising of 253 valid observations randomly selected from within the population of urban internet users in Mexico. The methodology used to determine the causal relationship between variables (Betas) was factor analysis (Principal Components) and structural equation modeling, specifically Smart-PLS. The study determined that perceived utility and trust variables are statistically relevant and significant in determining purchase online of new telecom convergent services and the development of electronic commerce in the Mexican Market.Palabras clave: Aceptación de la tecnología, comercio electrónico, difusión de las innovaciones, ecuaciones estructurales, Smart-PLS.Resumen. Este artículo analiza los principales factores que influyen en la adopción de los nuevos servicios convergentes de telecomunicaciones, a traves del comercio electrónico, que han sido explorados y estudiados principalmente en mercados desarrollados como el de Estados Unidos y que han sido confirmados como factores críticos en el desarrollo y el crecimiento de las transacciones electrónicas en linea. Específicamente, los factores y variables latentes en este estudio se derivan de los modelos de Aceptación de la Tecnología (Davis, 1989) y la Difusión de las Innovaciones (Rogers, 2003). Se presenta un resumen de los antecedentes de estudios empíricos derivados de los mencionados modelos teóricos, seguido de los resultados de un estudio exploratorio de campo que comprende 253 observaciones válidas seleccionadas en forma aleatoria dentro de la población de usuarios urbanos de Internet en México. La metodología utilizada para determinar las relaciones causales entre las variables (Betas) fue análisis factorial (Componentes Principales) y el modelo de ecuaciones estructurales, específicamente Smart-PLS. El estudio determina que las variables percepción de utilidad y confianza son estadísticamente relevantes y significativas en la determinación de compra en línea de nuevos servicios convergentes de telecomunicaciones y en el desarrollo del comercio electrónico en el Mercado Mexicano.

A large number of university web portal's content and design do not meet today's students' expectations and requirements. To address students' expectations, universities spend millions on the redesign and maintenance of their web portals which students say are inadequate and lack basic services. To this end, this study explored the factors that influence students' acceptance of university web portals. It proposed an extension of Davis's (1989) Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by adding three user related external constructs in it. A total of 429 usable responses were collected from university students through a web survey. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results of the study revealed that website quality, perceived self-efficacy, and facilitating conditions were significant in explaining students' use of university web portals and therefore, indicated that the extended TAM has sufficient explanatory power to explain students' usage of university web portals. In conclusion, important theoretical and practical implications of the results are presented for both researchers and practitioners.

BACKGROUND The AI assisted contouring system benefits radiation oncologists in terms of saving time and improving treatment accuracy. There is much hope and fear around such technologies, and it is the fear which can emanate as resistance for health care professionals, leading to the failure of AI projects. OBJECTIVE The objective of this research was to develop and test a model investigating the factors that drive radiation oncologists’ acceptance of the AI contouring technology in the Chinese context. METHODS A model of AI assisted contouring technology acceptance based on the UTAUT model adding variables of perceived risk and resistance was proposed in this study. The model included eight constructs with 29 questionnaire items and 307 respondents completed the questionnaires. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted to evaluate item the model's path effects, significance and fitness. RESULTS The overall fitness indices for the model were evaluated showing the hypothesized model has a good fit to the data. Behavioral intention was significantly affected by performance expectancy (beta=.155; P=.014), social influence (beta=.365; P<.001), and facilitating conditions (beta=.459; P<.001). Effort expectancy (beta=.055; P=.450), perceived risk (beta=.-048; P=.348), and resistance bias (beta=–.020; P=.634) did not significantly affect behavioral intention. CONCLUSIONS The physicians' overall perception of the AI assist technology for radiation contouring were high. Technology resistance among Chinese radiation oncologists was low and not related to behavioral intention. Not all of the factors in Venkatesh's UTAUT model apply to physicians' AI technology adoption in the Chinese context.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to introduce the importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) and explain how to use it in the context of partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). A case study, drawing on the IPMA module implemented in the SmartPLS 3 software, illustrates the results generation and interpretation. Design/methodology/approach The explications first address the principles of the IPMA and introduce a systematic procedure for its use, followed by a detailed discussion of each step. Finally, a case study on the use of technology shows how to apply the IPMA in empirical PLS-SEM studies. Findings The IPMA gives researchers the opportunity to enrich their PLS-SEM analysis and, thereby, gain additional results and findings. More specifically, instead of only analyzing the path coefficients (i.e. the importance dimension), the IPMA also considers the average value of the latent variables and their indicators (i.e. performance dimension). Research limitations/implications An IPMA is tied to certain requirements, which relate to the measurement scales, variable coding, and indicator weights estimates. Moreover, the IPMA presumes linear relationships. This research does not address the computation and interpretation of non-linear dependencies. Practical implications The IPMA is particularly useful for generating additional findings and conclusions by combining the analysis of the importance and performance dimensions in practical PLS-SEM applications. Thereby, the IPMA allows for prioritizing constructs to improve a certain target construct. Expanding the analysis to the indicator level facilitates identifying the most important areas of specific actions. These results are, for example, particularly important in practical studies identifying the differing impacts that certain construct dimensions have on phenomena such as technology acceptance, corporate reputation, or customer satisfaction. Originality/value This paper is the first to offer researchers a tutorial and annotated example of an IPMA. Based on a state-of-the-art review of the technique and a detailed explanation of the method, this paper introduces a systematic procedure for running an IPMA. A case study illustrates the analysis, using the SmartPLS 3 software.

E-commerce refers to business transactions using digital networks such as the internet. Based on the rank on the Appstore and Playstore, Shopee places the first rank. In 2019, Shopee had 56 million visitors. Meanwhile, in the same year, it had 3,225 workers. The imbalance between the number of Shopee visitors and Shopee employees allows users to be disappointed with Shopee's services, but on the other hand, there are also many users who are happy with its services. With both positive and negative responses to the services provided by Shopee, this study analyzes the factors affecting the acceptance of Shopee Apps on students of Universitas Diponegoro Semarang. The analysis was based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). It used the Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) approach. The study used primary data obtained by distributing questionnaires to students of Universitas Diponegoro. The result showed 28 valid indicators, 5 deal inner models, and 8 significant pathways. All the causality between latent variables contained in the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) have a positive and significant effect, it's just that the results of integrating trust variables on TAM, namely the latent variable between trust and interest in usage behavior, have no significant effect.

Various studies were conducted to reveal two important and interesting things from employees, namely employee engagement and employee performance. This study aims to observe the effect of using WhatsApp among employees on employee engagement and employee performance. Two main variables of the Technology Acceptance Model theory, namely perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are used as independent latent variables on employee engagement and employee performance which are the dependent variables. The respondents used in this study are 142 peoples, all of whom are the employees at state universities in Lampung. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis are used to examine the structure model and the influence between latent variables and to test the hypothesis. The validity and reliability tests show valid and reliable results. The results show that in the use of WhatsApp, perceived ease of use is an important variable and is statistically proven to significantly affect employee engagement and employee performance. Meanwhile, the two TAM variables have also been shown to have a significant effect on employee engagement.

Purpose This study aims to examine the association of technology acceptance variables with the intention of adopting e-government transformation, as defined by four dimensions, namely, using new technology systems, redesigning of governmental processes, restructuring of governmental organization and changing the organizational culture and behavior, from the perspective of city government employees in Indonesia and the Philippines. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative approach was used in the conduct of this research. Variables were operationalized into indicators, which were transmuted into a self-reported survey questionnaire. Survey data obtained from purposively sampled city government employees were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings Findings suggest that attitude is a pivotal predictor of intention to adopt e-government transformation across all four dimensions, while performance expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions also positively influence the intention to adopt process redesign, organizational structuring and cultural and behavioral change in the city government. Respondents’ length of work experience appears as a significant moderating variable. Research limitations/implications This study reports only on the findings from two cities in two countries, Surabaya in Indonesia and Davao in the Philippines. The determination of the sample size was done through purposive sampling, so the application of results should be done with prudence. The constructs used for the research model were chosen because of their prominence in the literature. This study made use of a simple linear regression model in hypothesizing the relationships of the constructs. Practical implications For e-government transformation to be adoptable and efficacious, supporting and facilitating conditions are necessary. Structural, technical and financial support, as well as legal framework, for local e-government transformation should be in place. Maintaining and sustaining the positive attitude toward it should be done. Originality/value Although many studies have been conducted on adoption of ICT-enabled government services from the citizens’ viewpoint, little has been done from the local government employees’ perspective, and no prior cross-country study has been made. This study fills those gaps in the e-government adoption literature. Further, this study has shown that technology acceptance variables’ roles as predictors of behavioral intention can be extended to other dimensions of e-government.

Nowadays, the advance of the internet and mobile technologies have changed our daily life, not only in terms of consumption but in how business is done. Social media has been recognized as one of the potential online platforms for entrepreneurs especially in small and medium business establishments to cope with large corporations. This study aims to investigate elements affecting social media adoption for business purposes by adopting a well-known technology acceptance model—the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). The data of 196 samples were collected via online questionnaires in Thailand using the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique employed to verify the proposed model with empirical data. The outcomes illustrate the performance and effort expectancy and social influence significantly influence behavior prospects to implement social media for business purposes. Facilitating conditions significantly contribute to affecting actual user behavior. Also, the authors investigated the moderating effect of all demographic and behavioral factors such as gender, age, daily spent time on social media, and entrepreneur status. The results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) analysis show that there are immense variances in the intention of social media behavior and use behavior due to age. Younger adults tend to be more adept with user behavior and behavioral intention more than older adults.

In the context of creating age-friendly communities, this paper examines the effects of neighborhood walkability and third places on older adults’ social connectedness. The subject was older adult homeowners aged sixty-five years and above in the context of American college towns. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used, controlling personal abilities and sociodemographic factors. Third places positively influenced older adults’ social support network, but it was not associated with loneliness. Objective and perceived neighborhood accessibility had no association with either social support network or loneliness in later life. Findings suggest that planners and developers should prioritize third places in designing for active living.
