In January 2002, the Boston Globe’s ‘Spotlight’ team began what would become a series of over 600 reports into sexual abuse and cover-up within the Catholic Church. The cumulative effect of ongoing revelations—reignited in 2018—on Catholic practice and retention is discussed here in light of empirical data and the theoretical idea of Credibility Undermining Displays (or CRUDs). Also covered in this chapter are issues relating to intergenerational transmission, the rise of the internet and social media, the rise of the ‘nones’, the phenomenon of ‘liminal nones’, and the chasm between traditional Christian moral teachings and contemporary social mores (especially in relation to LGBT issues).

Abstrak. Personal branding seorang eksekutif merupakan proses menjaga identitas, reputasi, dan citra publik seseorang. Mantan Ketua Umum PSSI, Edy Rahmayadi, menerima petisi online yang memaksanya mundur. Petisi online tersebut dipicu oleh maraknya pemberitaan di media massa dan media sosial. Meme kontroversial yang dibuat oleh Edy menanggapi pertanyaan jurnalis dibuat dan disebarluaskan di internet. Diketahui bahwa pengguna internet didominasi oleh pengguna internet. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor personal branding Edy Rahmayadi dalam pandangan kaum milenial sebagai pengguna internet dan media sosial terbesar. Variabel origin yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. adalah Authentic Personal Branding variable. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan empat faktor baru terbentuk, yaitu Mampu menjelaskan sebelas faktor asal dan faktor personal branding pembentuk Edy Rahmayadi, Faktor pertama adalah Faktor Keunggulan, faktor kedua adalah Faktor Inovasi, Faktor ketiga adalah Faktor Pakar, dan Faktor keempat adalah Keunikan. Faktor yang menjelaskan variabel asal adalah faktor keunggulan.Abstract. An executive's personal branding is the process of maintaining one's identity, reputation and public image. Former PSSI Chairperson, Edy Rahmayadi, received an online petition that forced him to resign. This is happened when he handled the crisis that occurred in the PSSI organization. The online petition was triggered by the rise of news coverage on him in the mass media and social media. The controversial memes made by Edy in response to journalists' questions were made and disseminated on the internet. It is known that internet users are dominated by millennial generation, where this is directly proportional to social media users. Based on this, this study aims to analyze Edy Rahmayadi's personal branding factors in the view of millennials, as the biggest internet and social media user. The origin variable uses in this study is the Authentic Personal Branding variables. The results shows four new factors formed, which are able to explain eleven origin factors and the personal branding factors forming Edy Rahmayadi. The first factor is the Excellence Factor, the second factor is the Innovation Factor, the third Factor is the Expert Factor, and the fourth Factor is Uniqueness. The most dominant factor explaining the origin variable is the excellence factor.

This paper considers constructions of institutional culture and power in the cover-up of child sexual abuse (CSA) by clergy in the Roman Catholic Church of Australia. The issue of cover-up has previously been considered in international inquiries as an institutional failing that has caused significant harm to victims of CSA by Catholic Clergy. Evidence given by select representatives of the Catholic Church in two government inquiries into institutional abuse carried out in Australia is considered here. This evidence suggests that, where cover-up has occurred, it has been reliant on the abuse of institutional power and resulted in direct emotional, psychological and spiritual harm to victims of abuse. Despite international recognition of cover-up as institutional abuse, evidence presented by Roman Catholic Representatives to the Victorian Inquiry denied there was an institutionalised cover-up. Responding to this evidence, this paper queries whether the primary foundation of cover-up conforms to the ‘bad apple theory’ in that it relates only to a few individuals, or the ‘bad barrel theory’ of institutional structure and culture.

This research aimed to identify the most developed themes in the field of digital marketing from 2010 to 2019. A total of 898 publications were selected from the Scopus database from the Business, Management and Accounting and Economics, Econometrics, and Finance domains. A bibliometric analysis was carried out using VOSviewer software and the term co-occurrence technique was used. Three clusters were identified. The first cluster relates digital marketing to the changes and adaptations of society and the economy since the emergence of the internet. The second cluster relates digital marketing to information technologies, e-commerce, and consumer behavior. Finally, the third cluster relates digital marketing with markets, social media, users, tourism, and electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM).

Like any other discourse, ideas regarding usury in Indonesia have evolved over time. This study is concerned with tracing that evolution and understanding how Indonesian academics, practitioners, and laypersons view the problem. The increasing popularity of usury is then juxtaposed with the emergence of anti-usury movements, of which this study identifies 14 throughout the country. Using a phenomenological approach, the study analyses these movements in order to better understand their nature and then categorizes them into three classes. The first is that organized by figures affiliated with Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia; the second is initiated by Indonesia’s Salafi ulama; and the third has no clear leadership and membership and is, therefore, somewhat disorganized. The ideas espoused by the anti-usury movement are primarily disseminated via the internet and social media. This study finds that the movement is growing quickly and gaining momentum.

With the presence of the Internet, journalistic photography can provide an opportunity to be more noticed by various societies. Social media and other online media accessed by billions of people each day therefore the spread of journalistic photography are wider. In this case the role of photojournalists becomes more crucial, Rothman (2012) explains that the beginning of motivational photojournalist plunge in the world of journalism due to the insistence in their hearts to announce something that is so important therefore they want to make a change. In this research will be discussed some journalistic photography that raised certain themes using content and structure of journalistic photography with significant results, then become viral on the internet. Some journalistic photography can be viral and some are not. The focus of this research is to find out the reasons and similarities in some journalistic photography that became viral on the Internet. This research uses qualitative content analysis method. Samples were selected based on the virality factor, 4 journalistic photography were taken from various sources and photographed by photographer with different background too. The first photo has been mentioned for 1,890,000 times; the second photo has been mentioned for 32,900,000 times; the third has been accessed for 22,600,000 times and the last has been accessed for 25,270,000,000 times. All four will be discussed based on the theory of journalistic photography, associated with the theory of virality.

This article refers to the political risks that a group of five parishioners, members of an aristocratic Catholic parish located in Santiago, Chile, had to face when they recovered and discovered unconscious meanings about the hard and persistent psychological and sexual abuse they suffered in that religious organisation. Recovering and discovering meanings, from the collective memory of that parish, was a sort of conversion event in the five parishioners that determined their decision to bring to the surface of Chilean society the knowledge that the parish, led by the priest Fernando Karadima, functioned as a perverse organisation. That determination implied that the five individuals had to struggle against powerful forces in society, including the dominant Catholic Church in Chile and the political influences from the conservative Catholic elite that attempted to ignore the existence of the abuses that were denounced. The result of this article explains how the five parishioners, through their concerted political actions and courage, forced the Catholic Church to recognise, in an ambivalent way, the abuses committed by Karadima. The theoretical basis of this presentation is based on a socioanalytical approach that mainly considers the understanding of perversion in organisations and their consequences in the control of anxieties.
