Here we present NeuroVault - a web based repository that allows researchers to store, share, visualize, and decode statistical maps of the human brain. NeuroVault is easy to use and employs modern web technologies to provide informative visualization of data without the need to install additional software. In addition, it leverages the power of the Neurosynth database to provide cognitive decoding of deposited maps. The data are exposed through a public REST API enabling other services and tools to take advantage of it. NeuroVault is a new resource for researchers interested in conducting meta- and coactivation analyses.

This paper investigates the role of virtual reality and web technologies in the field of dietetics education. Within this frame, special emphasis is given on the building of web-based virtual learning environments so as to successfully fulfill their educational objectives. In particular, basic pedagogical methods are studied, focusing mainly on the efficient preparation, approach and presentation of learning content, and specific designing rules are presented considering the hypermedia, virtual and educational nature of this kind of applications. The paper also aims to highlight the educational benefits arising from the use of virtual reality technology in dietetics and study the emerging area of web-based dietetic simulations. Virtual reality simulation allows the visualization of data in three dimensions and provides interactive functionalities that reinforce the feeling of immersion into a computer-generated virtual world. Finally, the innovative virtual reality environment for dietetics education pedagogy and development is demonstrated.

The use of information technology these days are very high. From business through education activities tend to use this technology most of the time. Information technology uses computer networks for integration and management data. To avoid business problems, the number of network devices installed requires a manageable network configuration for easier maintenance. Traditionally, each of network devices has to be manually configured by network administrators. This process takes time and inefficient. Network automation methods exist to overcome the repetitive process. Design model uses a web-based application for maintenance and automates networking tasks. In this research, the network automation system implemented and built a controller application that used REST API (Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interface) architecture and built by Django framework with Python programming language. The design modeled namely As-RaD System. The network devices used in this research are Cisco CSR1000V because it supports REST API communication to manage its network configuration and could be placed on the server either. The As-RaD System provides 75% faster performance than Paramiko and 92% than NAPALM.

Motivation: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems are an essential part of novel technology in diabetes management and care. CGM studies have become increasingly popular among researchers, healthcare professionals, and people with diabetes due to the large amount of useful information that can be collected using CGM systems. The analysis of the data from these studies for research purposes, however, remains a challenge due to the characteristics and large volume of the data. Results: Currently, there are no publicly available interactive software applications that can perform statistical analyses and visualization of data from CGM studies. With the rapidly increasing popularity of CGM studies, such an application is becoming necessary for anyone who works with these large CGM datasets, in particular for those with little background in programming or statistics. CGMStatsAnalyser is a publicly available, user-friendly, web-based application, which can be used to interactively visualize, summarize, and statistically analyze voluminous and complex CGM datasets together with the subject characteristics with ease.

<div class="WordSection1"><p><span style="font-size: 10px;">With the recent achievements in Internet and communication technology and its utilization in online laboratory, remote learning and online laboratory are made possible in the last few decades. This not only provides learning opportunities for people living in rural areas of developing countries, but also offers simple alternatives for those who are already able to access educational resources. The evolution of Web technologies makes it relatively easy to facilitate laboratory deployments, thus, more and more different online laboratory platforms emerge. However, the use of Hyper Text Mark-up Language (HTML5) and related standards such as WebGL and CSS3 in experimental platform, which is future trends and provides full-featured environment, is rare so far. This paper introduces a new HTML5 version of Networked Control System Laboratory (NCSLab), which has been developing for over 10 years since 2006. The 3D version of NCSLab has been developing for almost 5 years in Wuhan University (WHU), whose rendering solution is changed from Flash 3D engine to HTML5 recently. Therefore, Flash player plug-in is eliminated to provide better user experience for users since most of the mainstream web browsers are compatible with HTML5.</span></p></div>

This chapter at first surveys the Web technologies that can enable ubiquitous and pervasive multimedia communications over the Web and then reviews the challenges that are raised by their combination. In this context, the relevant HTML5 APIs and technologies provided for service adaptation are introduced and the MPEG-DASH, X3Dom, and WebRTC frameworks are discussed. What is envisaged for the future of mobile multimedia is that with the integration of these technologies one can shape a diversity of future pervasive and personalized cloud-based Web applications, where the client-server operations are obsolete. In particular, it is believed that in the future Web cloud-based Web applications will be able to communicate, stream, and transfer adaptive events and content to their clients, creating a fully collaborative and pervasive Web 3D environment.

Over the last decade, the emerging Web technologies have opened a new era for distance education, where online courses can be created and accessed in a very easy way not previously available. Many online courses based on HTML pages thus are now available in cyberspace for synchronous or asynchronous distance learning (Anderson, Beavers, VanDeGrift, & Videon, 2003; Gregory, 1999; Muller & Ottmann, 2000; Shi et al., 2003; Siddiqui & Zubairi, 2000). However, without the support of multimedia, the static HTML pages can only serve as different kinds of simple “dumb” lecture notes on a network. Thus most students may lose interest quickly and eventually give up self-learning (Zimmer, 2003). Furthermore, this kind of unguided, static HTML pages are clearly insufficient for diverse learning needs and for different knowledge domains. With the dramatic development of multimedia technologies, we can integrate various media and provide students with vivid multimedia lectures on the Web. For example, the presentation techniques of online language courses should stress the importance of multimedia (e.g., voice and video) and document interaction flexibility (e.g., random access and repeated play of a specific speech segment) much more than other courses do (Brett, 1998; McLoughlin, Hutchinson, & Koplin, 2002).

The Internet and, more specifically, Web-based applications now provide the first-ever global, easy-to-use, ubiquitous and economical communications channel. Most companies have already automated their operations to some extent, which enhances their ability to interact with other companies electronically. With the advent of Web services, the interaction between companies becomes easier and more transparent (Khalaf, Curbera, Nagy, Tai, Mukhi, & Duftler, 2005). Web-based technologies are extensively employed and support core components of virtual and networked organizations. Many of them, including for instance Web-based communities, heavily rely on Web traffic. Additionally, Web technologies play a central role in the technologies for supporting industrial virtual enterprises (VE) being developed by the National Industrial Information Infrastructure Protocols Consortium (NIIIP). Thus, modelling and analysis techniques for Web traffic become important tools for performance analysis of virtual organizations (Malhotra, 2000; Foster, Kesselman, & Tuecke, 2001). This article overviews current models of Web traffic as well as performance analysis of Web-based systems.

This article analyzes the diffusion of a Web technology named AJAX in facilitating e-government architecture and enhancing its potential by enablement of modern Web features as democracy and collaboration. Flexibility needed for free flow of interactive collaboration, compatibility, and robustness is treated as vital in the chapter. Major enterprises that have created landmarks in terms of participation of individuals and enterprises, along with contemporary Web technologies, are also analyzed to consolidate priority of technologies befitting robust and sustainable Web architecture. Emphasis is on the point that a proper collaboration among private, public, and government entities can only be achieved by proper information dissemination and acceptance of competent Web technologies, AJAX being one of them. Features of AJAX such as sectional processing ability, speed, bridging, portability, and compatibility are viewed with criticality for practical establishment.
