Eastern European countries are undergoing a transition from centralized economic planning to more open economic systems. A team of Bulgarian and U.S. researchers have collaborated to study this problem, using a real Bulgarian winery as the focus of their research. System dynamics modeling was selected as a tool to provide better understanding of management issues. A framework for future objective research, and as a pedagogical tool. This system dynamics model generates output on a number of measures. This paper presents initial output from the model, reporting profit ability, risk, and market share measures. These multiple measures create the need for multiple criteria analysis. Three multiple criteria techniques are demonstrated, and their value in the system dynamics simulation modeling process is discussed.

Defining complex system dynamics (SD) models in complex organizational settings is hard. This is so because the numbers of variables to consider are many and the question of causation is complicated to untangle. Second, SD models are ambiguous and hard to conceptualize. In this paper, we explore the use of a domain modeling method object-role modeling (ORM) in the process of developing SD models. We do so, because domain modeling methods help to identify relationships among entities within the scope of the problem domain and provide a structural view of the domain. The addition of a domain modeling method to the process of developing SD models is to improve SD model conceptualization, enable transformation and reuse of information plus underpin SD with a domain modeling method that allows creation of database. To realize this, we come up with a procedure in our overall research which we refer to as grounded system dynamics (GSD) a combination of ORM and SD. To reason about the combination of SD with a domain modeling method (ORM), we identify and evaluate relationships between their constructs. Basing on the identified relations, ORM to stock and flow diagram (SFD) steps are defined and applied to a real-life case study national medical stores (NMS) situated in Uganda. On completion, we draw conclusions.

Many models were introduced to estimate the  roundabout entry capacity from 1980s until  now. In the United States, transportation  agencies adopted three different models from  1994 until 2010. The Austroads, the UK, and  the HCM 2010 methods. In this paper, these  three methods were used to analyze the field  traffic data of Al-Quds roundabout, located  near Baqubah City, simultaneously by utilizing  a system dynamics model. The collected data  included turning movements, circulating flows,  and field calculated entry capacities whenever  possible during the observation period which  lasted for 14 consecutive hours. A comparison  is then conducted on the resulting entry capacities and their variation over time. The  results showed that the calculated capacity  according to Austroads method is the highest at all times while the UK method was always a little lower and the HCM 2010 method was  always the least on all entries. The UK method  capacity estimates were the closest to the field  measured capacities for they returned the least  RMSE on all entries. Field capacities showed some tendency towards the Austroads results  in the north and south bound entries which  carry about 66% of the total traffic. While, field capacities showed more proximity  towards the HCM capacity results in the east  and the west bound entries which carry 34% of  the total traffic.

Kenya has emerged in recent times as one of the fastest growing telecom markets in the world. There is not a single, widely used paradigm which has synthesised the various schools and theories dealing with technology and society. This article argues that the issue of mobile technology on society is a complex technical and social phenomenon that needs to be understood from both ICT and social science perspectives. This study used the concept of governance socio-techno-economic systems as the theoretical framework. System dynamics are used as both the methodology and tool to model the mobile industry impact on society. The study shows that the increase in social capital intensity is an important source of the economic growth. This increase will strengthen the accelerator mechanism of the economy and creates larger multiplier effects. The increase in social capital intensity can be obtained through managing innovation processes base on the development of education and the R&D capacity of the nation.

In this paper, optimization of the local cam profile of a valve train modelled by a parameterized Bezier curve is described. Dynamic responses of the valve train are simulated through its multi-body system dynamics model built using ADAMS software. The kriging method is used to build the surrogate model, which presents the relationship between dynamic responses resulting from the multi-body system dynamics simulation and the parameters of the local Bezier profile. The local cam profile is optimized through a generic algorithm, such that the acceleration peak at the valve open phase is reduced significantly.

1945 Constitution Article 33 paragraph (3) states that the utilization of water resources must be aimed to the greatest extent possible for the prosperity of the people. The balance between the need for clean water and the availability of clean water needs to be managed in such a way that its utilization meets the criteria for environmental and sustainable integration. The purpose of writing this paper is to provide an overview, how to make a model about the relationship between the availability of clean water and the need for clean water at this time and anticipation going forward, so that the scarcity of clean water can be controlled and anticipated beforehand. The method used is system dynamics with the development of fixed that fail. The result obtained is that a system dynamics model can be used to show the behavior of the clean water ratio model with an alternative optimal solution for changing the positive loop into a negative loop, and can be simulated to obtain a picture or condition of clean water availability in the future.

Sustaining acceptable service in large facility networks is a complex task, particularly under limited budgets, rapid deterioration, and increasing service demands. Policy-makers are, therefore, challenged to make efficient balance between the construction of new facilities and the renewal of existing ones to suit both the short and the long-term needs. To support policy-makers, this paper proposes an efficient decision support system using the system dynamics simulation technique to analyze the impact of various budget allocation policies and to optimize policy decisions. The proposed system dynamics model was tested using a case study from the Toronto District School Board involving more than 400 schools. It can find the optimum budgeting strategy that minimizes the overall facility condition index and total life cycle cost over a long-term strategic plan. The system dynamics model proved its ability to find a budget allocation policy with much better results than the typical enrolment-based approach.
