Designed to meet a wide range of economic requirements, new technologies offer flexibility, economies of scale, mobility and greater accuracy. The field of accounting is subject to this new era of change. The era of the Internet of Everything (IoE) is reshaping the profession of accountant according to the current needs of organizations. Artificial intelligence and process automation take on redundant and repetitive tasks performed by professionals, creating space for more complex activities such as analysis and business consulting. The article considers the main modern information technologies and the possibilities of their use in accounting. With the use of information technology, more opportunities have opened up in the field of accounting. The purpose of the article is to analyze the use of modern information technology in accounting, to study the features of their implementation and related risks for the company. Technological determinants of the development of the organization of accounting are: the spread of mobile communications; improving the provision of Internet access services; software development; conversion of smartphones, tablets into integrated devices, their active use in the workplace of accounting staff. The main advantages of such technologies as cloud computing platforms, big data, data mining and mobile technologies are identified. The main threats associated with the use of these technologies have also been identified. It is determined that new technologies, as well as the need for real-time reporting make changes in the profession of accountant. Novice accountants may lack the knowledge to efficiently obtain and process large amounts of data. This is due to the fact that the existing curricula of accounting faculties in Ukraine are not sufficiently focused on new technologies, such as cloud computing, Big Data or data mining. As a result, it can be difficult for accountants to secure confidential information using the latest technology.

“Big Data” is a technological term with a seemingly cognitive connotation that masks an ideological orientation of those attempting to be benevolently, criminally of even “innocently” in control of our knowledge and subsequent actions. Without an epistemological foundation “small” and especially “big” data are a myth. When “the truth” becomes “what’s on a digital screen” under the control of those in charge of “the cloud” we are clouding our cultural heritage voluntarily to an extent that exposes us to the whims of those screening and displaying our data even in so-called “post-truth” fashion. Subsequent information and knowledge cannot be critically and rationally assessed for lack of evidence. All lessons learned during the last four centuries of enlightening efforts seem to be forgotten or ignored by us. Our preference for “cognitive ease” can be easily abused by those in control of modern information technology. We remain in “self-imposed immaturity” (Kant) while they can act primarily for their own economic, political, and social benefits and may even feel “justified” by the big-data-ideology. Knowledge must remain relevant to, testable and rationally believable by the legitimate recipients of any public data and information. An enlightened framework for data governance is overdue in the “digital big data age!”

Purpose The paper aims to investigate the relationship between supply chain quality management (SCQM) practices and organisational performance as well as the role of knowledge transfer (KT) and SCQM capabilities in mediating the SCQM practices–organisational performance relationship. Precisely, this study tried to examine how effective are SCQM practices in enhancing SCQM capabilities, KT processes and to illuminate the role both of SCQM capabilities and KT processes in improving a firm’s innovation and operational performance (OP). Design/methodology/approach This paper applied a quantitative method in which data were collected from a survey with 152 firms functioning in the most pollutant manufacturing sectors (i.e. food, construction, chemical and pharmaceutical sectors) in Palestine. The data analysis was conducted using the partial least squares structural equation modelling. Findings This paper provides empirical insights into how to enhance organisational performance via SCQM capabilities and KT. In addition, this study contributes to the conceptualisation of SCQM, involving quality combination capability, supply chain responsiveness capability, quality knowledge sharing capability and provides the managers the ability to train themselves regarding the SCQM with its implication. Research limitations/implications Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalisability. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the proposed propositions further. Practical implications – this paper includes implications for the improvement of SCQM capabilities, the manufacturing organisations should concentrate on establishing modern information technology. The article deals with the structure of the modern information technology system used in the tourism industry. It is emphasized that the use of information technology in each separate segment of the tourism industry, such as hotels, ticket reservations, the creation of specialized tourist products, is interlinked with all others. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the using of modern information technologies in the tourism industry. It was established that the introduction of information technology in the tourism industry took place in four stages, from the creation of data, through the direct development of information technologies , the development of strategic information systems and the integration of individual IT components in a network of different levels, from local to global. It is revealed that the majority of tourist enterprises use both standard and special software in their activity. For tourism enterprises to carry out marketing activities successfully, the information market offers technologies aimed at the process of automating the accumulation of survey results, planning and developing a marketing strategy. One of the most important elements in the tourism industry is computer reservation systems, which eventually integrated into global booking systems. These systems provide not only transport services, but also hotel accommodation, cruise trips, location information, bus, rail and air connections, exchange rates, weather reports, etc., allowing one to reserve all major components of the tour. Tour operators use several classic approaches to building a reservation system. The features of the market of tourist services, the specific characteristics of the services themselves and the peculiarities of their perception by consumers determine the specifics of marketing in this area. The use of information technologies, in particular the Internet, enables businesspeople and marketers to explore new market opportunities for their travel services, to highlight and explore various market segments (geographic, demographic, professional, organizational, behavioural, etc.). Tracking relevant information can be used to predict the future development of consumer demand and identify new trends in the behaviour of existing and potential customers. The use of geoinformation systems opens up broad prospects for engineering justification and design of new tourist routes and recreational areas, the publication of thematic tourist maps and the creation of web atlases, etc. Thus, thanks to information technologies, a single tourist information space is created that allows all players in the tourist market to quickly receive real information.

Achieving and strengthening competitive advantage represents the key factor for survival and success of the modern businesses. It is a fact that successful implementation of Lean management leads to increased productivity and competence. However, in order to maintain profitability and business stability, it is necessary to support Lean concept, which can be provided, above all, by the application of modern information technology. In that sense, by applying the ERP system, it is possible to adapt basic Lean principles to the requirements of a modern environment characterized by constant change of demand and needs of the consumers/users. The main goal of the research is to examine the existing level of application of modern information technologies, as well as the level of attention paid to the integration of Lean concept and software solutions in enterprises in the Republic of Serbia. Theoretical aspect of the research is related to finding appropriate grounds for concluding on the basis of the existing literature. In this paper, research gaps and proposed further research directions have been identified. By applying the appropriate statistical tools (descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, correlation analysis) it was finally concluded that the enterprises which have substantially implemented the practice and principles of lean management are at the same time those who implement IT in their business, i.e. the information systems which support the implementation of lean practice.
