This has sharpened attention to the connection between nutrition and health in both low- and high-income countries, where the last generation has seen a marked shift in diets. Impacts Fast food industries potentially face increased regulation as new guidelines on sugar and fat intake emerge. Economies of developing countries will be adversely affected by increasing rates of disease. Developing countries particularly will struggle to address the strain on public health systems from rising rates of NCDs.
