Purpose The Internet of Things (IoT) has attracted a lot of attention in both industrial and academic fields for recent years. Artificial intelligence (AI) has developed rapidly in recent years as well. AI naturally combines with the Internet of Things in various ways, enabling big data applications, machine learning algorithms, deep learning, knowledge discovery, neural networks and other technologies. The purpose of this paper is to provide state of the art in AI powered IoT and study smart public services in China. Design/methodology/approach This paper reviewed the articles published on AI powered IoT from 2009 to 2018. Case study as a research method has been chosen. Findings The AI powered IoT has been found in the areas of smart cities, healthcare, intelligent manufacturing and so on. First, this study summarizes recent research on AI powered IoT systematically; and second, this study identifies key research topics related to the field and real-world applications. Originality/value This research is of importance and significance to both industrial and academic fields researchers who need to understand the current and future development of intelligence in IoT. To the best of authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to review the literature on AI powered IoT from 2009 to 2018. This is also the first literature review on AI powered IoT with a case study of smart public service in China.

Artificial intelligence integrated with the internet of things network could be used in the healthcare sector to improve patient care. The data obtained from the patient with the help of certain medical healthcare devices that include fitness trackers, mobile healthcare applications, and several wireless sensor networks integrated into the body of the patients promoted digital data that could be stored in the form of digital records. AI integrated with IoT could be able to predict diseases, monitor heartbeat rate, recommend preventive maintenance, measure temperature and body mass, and promote drug administration by having a review with the patient's medical history and detecting health defects. This chapter explores IoT and artificial intelligence for smart healthcare solutions.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has severely affected the healthcare infrastructure. The limitations of conventional healthcare urge the use of the digital technologies to lessen the overall load on the healthcare infrastructure and assist healthcare workers/staff. This chapter focuses on digital technologies to enable smart healthcare solutions to sustain and improve health services. The chapter focuses on two main driving technologies (internet of things [IoT] and artificial intelligence [AI]), pioneering automation and digitalization of healthcare. The enabling technologies possess the potential to transform the healthcare with emergence of new and novel research directions to realize and address healthcare needs. Therefore, it is essential to focus on key driving and complementing technologies to establish multidisciplinary research solutions with cross-platform design coupled with translational learning to unlock the potentials of next generation healthcare.

UNSTRUCTURED In the resent decade, emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technology, Cloud Computing , Internet of Things (IoT), etc., have changed people life a lot (in terms of living). Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been applied widely in our daily lives in a variety of ways with numerous successful stories. AI has also contributed to dealing with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, which is currently happening around the globe. We touch on a number of areas where AI plays as an essential component, from medical image processing, data analytics, text mining and natural language processing, the Internet of Things, to computational biology and medicine. For this, a summary of COVID-19 related data sources that are available for research purposes (for future researchers) is also presented. For that, all the tools, resources and datasets needed to facilitate AI research are also been reviewed. Also discussed about Machine Learning use cases for Drug Formulations, Treatment of Patients Suffering with COVID-19, how Artificial Intelligence and internet of things can be useful to develop Cost- effective and Rapid Point-of-Care Diagnostics. For example, uses of Internet of Medical Things for Smart Healthcare (primary focus on detecting COVID-19 symptoms, and alerts for other users) have been discussed in this work. In summary, this work providesuseful information about (potential of) AI methods, machine learning, internet of things, used in many applications like Medicare, COVID-19 outbreak and summarizes several critical roles of Artificial Intelligence (including machine learning and internet of things) research in this unprecedented battle. We also discuss several future Research directions, global impact of corona on internet of things and many applications. It is envisaged that this work will provide AI, and ML researchers and the wider community an overview of the current status of AI and ML applications and motivate researchers in harnessing AI potentials in the fight against COVID-19.

Purpose: Retail selling is an inevitable economic activity in any country’s economy. In India, the retail industry contributes 10% of its GDP. The invention of the Internet and technological advancement in digital marketing has helped the online retail industry to grow exponentially. Digital advancement has created an environment where customers are more informed, hence chooser and demanding. Marketing technology or ‘Martech’ encompasses technology to reach online customers to provide pre-eminent customer experience, to meaningfully engage and retain them. The latest such technologies are Artificial Intelligence, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Internet of Things, Natural Language Processing, Block Chain Technology, etc. This paper is an exploratory study using secondary data, which revealed that many firms have already adopted and most others are willing to adopt such advanced technologies in the near future as they are convinced that such technologies can phenomenally change the marketing strategies. This study also explores the current status of retail industry and also the opportunities and challenges of adopting these technologies from marketers’ perspective. It also proposes suggestions from a user perspective, based on the analysis findings. Design Methodology: Developing a conceptual framework using primary and secondary data collected from various studies published by the govt, global research firms, blogs, and other internet articles. Findings: This paper revealed a dire need to adapt the marketing technology in the retailing industry for future survival. The analysis also revealed that the affinity for internet and online purchases is increasing exponentially hence the latest technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality, and Natural Language Processing are tremendously revolutionizing the customer experience and thereby increased level of Customer Engagement. Type of Paper: Case study-based Research Analysis.

The traditional Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm has evolved towards intelligent IoT applications which exploit knowledge produced by IoT devices using artificial intelligence techniques. Knowledge sharing between IoT devices is a challenging issue in this trend. In this paper, we propose a Knowledge of Things (KoT) framework which enables sharing self-taught knowledge between IoT devices which require similar or identical knowledge without help from the cloud. The proposed KoT framework allows an IoT device to effectively produce, cumulate, and share its self-taught knowledge with other devices at the edge in the vicinity. This framework can alleviate behavioral repetition in users and computational redundancy in systems in intelligent IoT applications. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed concept, we examine a smart home case study and build a prototype of the KoT framework-based smart home system. Experimental results show that the proposed KoT framework reduces the response time to use intelligent IoT devices from a user’s perspective and the power consumption for compuation from a system’s perspective.

The objective of this chapter is to describe the most common soilless culture system (SCS) irrigation and fertigation methods. The chapter summarizes common types of irrigation/fertigation system and types of management system. It then discusses the shift to real-time plant-based sensing and monitoring systems together with models to analyze this data and translate it into irrigation management decisions. A case study is included to illustrate these systems in practice. The chapter concludes by identifying new directions in the application of internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence and phyto-sensing technologies to optimize input use.
