Introduction: The co-authors provide an overview of the main types of wind turbines and power generators installed into wind energy devices, as well as advanced technological solutions. The co-authors have identified the principal strengths and weaknesses of existing wind power generators, if applied as alternative energy sources. The co-authors have proven the need to develop an algorithm for the selection of a wind generator-based autonomous power supply system in the course of designing windmill farms in Russia. Methods: The co-authors have analyzed several types of wind turbines and power generators. Results and discussions: The algorithm for the selection of a wind generator-based autonomous power supply system is presented as a first approximation. Conclusion: The emerging algorithm enables designers to develop an effective wind generator-based autonomous power supply system.

Using microgrid generation technologies is proposed in order to organize reliable power supply to rural areas. The concept of microgrid based on RES is considered as one of the realization forms of the distributed energy paradigm. In this chapter, there are the principles of generating complex formation in any given microgrid considering the specifics of the region, consumption patterns, and the potential of renewable energy sources in a given area. The algorithm for meeting the challenges of forming the structure of the microgrid generating structure is shown. The criteria for selection of power generation sources when solving the issue of their inclusion in the microgrid is proposed. The chapter also suggests the design of the micro gas turbine that is able to operate on biogas.

Based on the tasks of automatic MIG welding machine, in this paper, a SCM control system of welding machine is presented and its anti-interference design is carried out. Some hardware measures are used to resist interference, including power supply anti-interference, channel anti-interference, space anti-interference, selection of components, circuit layout and hardware "watchdog". Redundant instruction, software "trap", software "watchdog" and other software anti-interference measures are also adopted. NB-500IGBT inverter welding machine is used for welding test and the results show that the above mentioned hardware and software anti-interference measures are effective to solve the interference for control system of automatic MIG welding machine.

The paper presents a short characteristic of an off-grid zone in the eastern regions of the Russian Federation. The main problems of power supply to consumers in this zone are described, and possible options for solving them are provided. A methodological approach and model tools to estimate the efficiency of alternative options of power supply to off-grid consumers are described. The factors affecting the selection of a rational option of power supply in the off-grid zone are classified. We show the interconnection between the main significant factors (availability of grid infrastructure, local fuel resources, complexity of fuel delivery logistics, characteristics of accessible power-generating equipment, and environmental constraints) and their impact on economic indicators of alternative options. Based on the systematized results of long-term studies, we present a scheme designed to select a rational option of power supply to a particular off-grid consumer according to characteristics of the described factors. Keywords: Off-grid consumers, alternative options, impact of factors, economic indicators, methodological approach, simulation models, economic efficiency.
