The aim of the study is the determination of socio-economic characteristics of the elderly, emphasizing the usefulness of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to explore the socio-economic indicators that affect the health level of the elderly. Given the usefulness of GIS and their application in the fields of physical health, mental health, health services and general health management, a survey for the investigation of the socio-economic indicators that affect the health level of the elderly was carried out, using a specially designed questionnaire. The results of this survey were plotted in the corresponding geographical locations on the maps, giving the person concerned a full picture of the geographical distribution of socio-economic indicators that affect the health level of the elderly.

A fungus, Aspergillus fumigatus Fres., which used bark as its sole carbon and energy source, was isolated. Difficulties arose in measuring fungal growth, since the hyphae and the bark could not be separated. Measurement of the weight loss of the solid material did not quantitatively estimate fungal growth. Therefore, two methods were developed to estimate fungal mass when the carbon and energy source is particulate and contributes to the parameter used as a measure of growth. They were based on determination of nitrogen either in the solid material or in the medium. The nitrogen concentration in A. fumigatus was found to be nearly constant throughout the growth cycle and to be independent of the carbon and nitrogen concentrations in the medium but to vary with the carbon source used.Aspergillus fumigatus was grown at 37C as a submerged culture in salts medium with finely ground bark from Picea abies as sole carbon and energy source. The bark medium was heat-sterilized before inoculation with spores. The fungus utilized cellulose and hemicellulose but not lignin. Substances solubilized from the bark contributed to the growth. The yield was the same on unextracted as on water-extracted bark, although growth was delayed on the former. Growth was rapid and comparable to growth on other polymeric polysaccharides, i.e. starch. Aspergillus fumigatus degraded 32–40% of the polymeric part of the bark within 4 days and with an economic coefficient of about 50%.

Rice husk is biomass that can be utilized as fuel for biomass gasification as a renewable energy source. In this paper, thermochemical methods were used to determine the higher heating values, moisture content, bulk density, pellet density, microstructure, and elemental composition of Thai Rice Husk (Oryza Sativa Linn). The heating energy was analyzed using a bomb calorimeter, which showed a higher heating value of 15.46 MJ/kg. Determination of pellet density through rice husk powder pelletization exhibited a value of 1.028 g/cm3, while moisture content was 5.017 wt%. The heating value and moisture content revealed good agreement with the literature values, indicating the potentiality of rice hush for energy generation. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that the raw rice husk and its ash have similar porosity types but different bulk structure.  Elemental analysis using energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) indicated that rice husk contains O, Si, C while O and C percentages were drastically decreased during combustion. The obtained heating value and moisture content proved that rice husk could be used as a bio-energy source in biomass gasification for power generation.

The article defines the ability of retailers, the ability of retailers to meet the requirements of consumers in high-quality products and trade services, taking into account local or regional characteristics. A generalization of the existing terminology allows us to understand the competitiveness of retailers as the ability of a retailer to meet the requirements of consumers in high-quality products and trading services taking into account local or regional characteristics. Assessment of the competitiveness level of a retail trade enterprise is carried out in the following sequence: selection of criteria and their assessment; determination of criteria weighting factors; calculation of a generalized criterion. To calculate the generalized competitiveness level of a retail trade enterprise, criteria and their scores are proposed, and their weighting factors are determined. An essential criterion for the competitiveness of retail enterprises is the degree to which they meet their real needs, which determines the different attractiveness of competitors to consumers. A direct comparison of retail enterprises in a series of similar ones (selling similar products or providing the same services) was carried out according to the main parameters (indicators): the atmosphere of the store, the internal environment of the store, the quality of goods and services, the image of the enterprise; financial and economic indicators. A comparative assessment of the competitiveness of retail trade enterprises has made it possible to establish that the Deya hypermarket is the most competitive trading enterprise. Along with this, it is necessary to direct the activities of the hypermarket to improve the financial and economic component and increase the image of the enterprise. One of the ways to increase the financial and economic indicators of a trading company is merchandising.

Article is devoted to problems of diagnostics of factors of the environment of functioning of the enterprise. In article the following questions are considered: theoretical aspects of diagnostics estimating communications of key indicators of overall performance of the enterprise and it are more whole; the place and a role of diagnostics in an enterprise management system on the basis of value-oriented approach; identification of set of the indicators necessary and sufficient for adequate assessment of an economic situation of the enterprise. Authors suggest to add to a traditional algorithm of economic diagnostics assessment of the existing condition of the enterprise on the basis of the system of the indicators setting priznakovy space in the chosen system of coordinates. At selection of economic indicators it is offered to form a triangular matrix of correlation interrelations and an auxiliary matrix of correlation interrelations. The developed system of diagnostics of a condition of the enterprise, is carried out on the following algorithm: creation of a vector of economic coefficients; establishment of critical values for the chosen economic indicators; assessment of coefficients on the established standard values; designing of an estimated vector; measurement of length of a vector and determination of optimum value; assessment of an economic situation in the enterprise.

The authors have developed an efficient method to measure cellular activity of ATP synthesis. Although ATP is a major energy source of biological reactions, it has been difficult tomeasure cellular ATP synthetic activity quantitatively. In this report, bioluminescence from the luciferin-luciferase reactionwas used for the quantitativemeasurement. Under the used condition, bioluminescence from standard ATP solution showed no attenuation within several minutes, and the intensity corresponded proportionally to ATP concentrations of the standards. To measure dynamic cellular ATP synthetic activity, combination of osmotic shock and detergent treatmentwas used tomake Escherichia coli cells permeable. ATPwas discharged from permeable cells and reacted with externally added luciferase. Because permeable cells used glucose to synthesize and accumulate ATP without further growth, intensity of bioluminescence was increasing during the cellular consumption of glucose. Cellular ATP biosynthetic activitywas calculated formthe slope of linearly increasing bioluminescence. This permeable cell assay could be applied to high-throughput measuring for dynamic cellular activity of glycolytic ATP synthesis.
