The research is concerned with estimating the effect of the cultivated area of barley crop on the production of that crop by estimating the regression model representing the relationship of these two variables. The results of the tests indicated that the time series of the response variable values is stationary and the series of values of the explanatory variable were nonstationary and that they were integrated of order one ( I(1) ), these tests also indicate that the random error terms are auto correlated and can be modeled according to the mixed autoregressive-moving average models ARMA(p,q), for these results we cannot use the classical estimation method to estimate our regression model, therefore, a fully modified M method was adopted, which is a robust estimation methods, The estimated results indicate a positive significant relation between the production of barley crop and cultivated area.

Hans-Georg Gadamer’s Truth and Method offers a distinctive account of the human relationship to language and history. The book had a transformative effect on many fields, including political theory. It offers a persuasive hermeneutic theory of what the obstacles to and possibilities for textual interpretation actually are and thus forms an account of the proper practice of political theory that is superior to the rival claims of historicism, Straussianism, or post-modernism. Simultaneously, it offers an account of the relationship of individuals to language-communities that recognizes their significance for cultures and persons without reifying their moral or political value. Gadamer’s account of language points toward openness and democracy rather than identity politics or nationalism.

This paper’s overriding concern is to analyze the moral degradation, spiritual sterility, fragmentation, damaged psyche of humanity, the disillusionment of early twentieth-century post-war modern Europe and of course the path of salvation that are enormously manifest in the Thomas Stearns Eliot’s poem ‘The Waste Land’. In the question of regeneration or salvation, Eliot in this poem instructs the morally and spiritually sterile modern man to follow the Indian philosophy, Vedas and Upanishads, the storehouse of knowledge, relief, and source of spiritualism, redemption and salvation. And also he concludes the poem with the sense that if they practise them in their life as instructed, there will be nothing but Shantih, shantih, shantih (peace and tranquility) in their life. This paper thus attempts to dissect how the poem develops exerting the acute sense of spiritual infertility, moral degradation, sexual perversion, meaninglessness in the human relationship of the post-war-devastated and dysfunctional world and concludes with the instruction of the path of salvation.

Abstract The Seed Hull Maturity Index (SHMI) is a low cost maturity estimation method which has been shown to be correlated to yield and value per hectare using short term studies. To test the relationship of SHMI to yield and value on a long term basis, an equation was developed for deriving SHMI from 9 years of market grade information. Comparison of observed and derived SHMI values produced an R of 0.93. Among the cultivars used only Florigiant, NC6, and NC7 are either major commercial cultivars or cultivars being evaulated commercially. The data from this study confirmed that SHMI optimum values must be determined for each cultivar of interest. SHMI was shown to best estimate value per hectare. The value estimation equations for Florigiant and NC6 are given. The SHMI at which maximum value occurs is 3.0 for Florigiant and 3.1 for NC6. The SHMI at which maximum yield occurs is 2.7 for both cultivars.

In industries such as Fast-Moving Consumers Good (FMCG), where the products are usually transferred in high volume with low value, comparing value market share is important. The paper will further research on the relationship of the total unit sold and the changes in price with the market share of a specific company in the industry in hope that this research may help company to decide on product strategy based on whether the existing products’ contribution to the market shares is necessary or should the product need to be discontinued and replaced. The report will measure the relationship between the total products sold and the changes in price with the market share, which is derived from the proportion of values compared to the total market value of the skin care market. A Multiple Regression analysis was used to formulate the relationship using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) estimation method. It can be concluded that, number of unit sold of each product does have relationship to the market share regression model regardless its contribution’s significance. While prices changes do not significantly impacting the changes in the market shares, this can be caused by the loyalty of the customer towards the brand. In other word, these loyal customers will buy the product no matter how much the price has changed.

This paper presented a new DCT-based watermarking algorithm for vector digital maps. A watermark bit is embedded by modifying the relationship of several high-frequency coefficients in DCT domain. To enhance data accuracy and robustness of the watermark, we proposed a Double Error Estimation method. This method allowed watermarks to be embedded when the vertices with distortion are smaller than thresholds. Experiments show that the watermarks are resilient to random noise, general geometric transformation, data scrambling and cropping. The algorithm is blind and it is easy to implement.

This paper introduces a method for in-process tool wear estimation of an air turbine spindle, which is equipped with a rotation control system for ultra-precision milling. Previous investigations revealed that the pressure of the compressed air for supply that is used to control the rotational speed and tool wear at the time when steady wear occurs, maintains a linear relationship when processing SKD61 steel. In addition, the extent to which the supply pressure changed was reduced after chipping occurred. Therefore, the possibility exists that the tool wear can be estimated by obtaining the supply pressure during processing. The purpose of this paper is to propose the evaluation of an in-process tool wear estimation method, and to evaluate its validity. An estimation method is necessary as this would allow the amount of tool wear to be estimated and abnormal wear of occurrence to be detected. Because of the linear relationship between the air pressure and the amount of tool wear, the latter can be estimated by plotting the approximately linear relationship of the tool wear as a function of the air pressure. The proposed estimation method for processing the results obtained for SKD61, is capable of estimating the relative error of the measured value within 0.2 against the estimated value at the time. Furthermore, the occurrence of abnormal wear is determined from the amount of change in the supply pressure. Thus, SKD11 steel was processed for the proposed estimation method to verify whether it is valid for cutting high hardness steel. As a result, for SKD11 the estimation method produced estimation results similar to those obtained for SKD61. Therefore, the suggested estimation method is likely to be effective for high-hardness steel cutting.
