= The aim of this paper is to present the results of the research on the needs of unemployed citizens in the Osijek-Baranja County with the purpose of improving the knowledge of advancing the services, programs, and activities of public libraries, as well as the quality of life of unemployed citizens. Research was conducted using the random sampling method (N=250). The article presents a picture of the situation before the global COVID-19 health pandemic, the crisis that affected the whole world. The collected data was statistically analyzed in SPSS, the Statistical Package for Social Sciences, using correlation and descriptive analysis on two groups and was thereafter expressed in percentages. The most important results of the research showed that the selected citizens have a need for lifelong learning, but that at the same time the largest percentage of them do not have the need to fulfill the named needs in a library space. Most pronounced needs of tested citizens are the needs to learn English and German; computer and technical skills, the need to perfect communication skills; perfecting additional social skills through teamwork, familiarizing oneself with workspace etiquette, gaining organizational skills, promotional skills, learning nonverbal communication or body language. The results show that public libraries do not allow a portion of the subjects (41.6%) to fulfill their needs, despite them having a membership to the public library and having different needs for lifelong learning. Likewise, results show that not all public libraries within the Osijek-Baranja County are open to all users. Socially excluded unemployed citizens believe that the public library can help develop communities and unemployed citizens alike.

As the last country in Europe to overthrow the communist regime, Albania has much to achieve in the legal system to build a full democracy. A government should be relied upon to create the necessary reforms to move a country out of transition. The governmental structure can either accelerate or prevent the country’s transition towards a market economy. The other pillar of society that reflects institutional performance is the country’s citizens. Trust is a factor that connects citizens with institutions. The main purpose of this research is to identify causes for citizens to lose their confidence in public institutions. The analysis, supported by quantitative data, aims to show the level of trust that citizens bestow to the most important Albanian public institutions. An Institution for Democracy and Mediation poll and this study’s results of meetings with focus groups were used to illustrate the public’s confidence in the governmental institutions, and to explore the causes of the citizen’s attitude towards the public institutions and their service in Albania.

AbstractThe Covid19 pandemic is currently affecting universities. IAIN Padangsidimpuan as one of the institutions of Islamic religious state higher education in Indonesia is required to follow the changes in learning methods, namely distance learning (PJJ), which is from the beginning is fully face-to-face. The location of the campus in the Southern Part of North Sumatra with diverse origins of students and being far from urban areas is a challenge for institutions. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The number of informants 384 people consisting of active students of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business were randomly selected. Based on the results of the study note that, although the majority of students (95.8%) already have the tools to undergo Distance Learning, on the other hand students feel the distance learning method is currently not appropriate because students feel unable to monitor the development of distance learning easily, cannot obtain learning material easily nor can study material easily. Overall, both in terms of technology and the Lecturer side, students are not satisfied with the distance learning method they are currently undergoing and also feel dissatisfied with the ability of the Lecturer to deliver material to distance learning.

Adi Ophir has suggested that the political realm is an order of evils, producing and managing regular forms of suffering and violence rather than eliminating them. Thus, the political is always to some extent a corrupted order of justice. Emmanuel Levinas’ work presents in its focus on the face-to-face relationship a means of rethinking how to make the political more open to compassionate justice. Though Levinas himself doesn’t sufficiently take on this question, I argue that his work facilitates a way of thinking about commiserative shame that provides a means to connect the face-to-face to its potential effects in the political sphere. If such shame isn’t ignored or bypassed, it produces an unsettling relation to the other that in its adversity motivates a kind of responsibility and care for the other that can alter the public sphere.

This paper will explore the tropical exotic in relation to the widespread European fascination with tropical animals exhibited in zoos throughout the long nineteenth century. Zoos became places where human animals could experience the chill of a backbone shiver as they came face to face with the animal/other. It will examine the establishment of the first zoos in relation to Harriet Ritvo’s argument that their major imperative was one of classification and control. On the one hand, the zoo fulfilled the public’s desire for wild, exotic creatures while, on the other hand, the zoo reassured the public that its major purpose was control of the natural world encapsulated by the stereotype of tropical excess. I will argue that these various places of exhibition created an uncanny zone in which the European subject was able to encounter its animal self while reaffirming an anthropocentric world view.

It’s important that the messages and information in the public spot advertisements that is wanted to be conveyed to the individuals to be reached at the desired level and an asymmetric structure existing between the message prepared with a fictional structure and the perception between the message and the receiving party. Because, a decent perceptional connection between the receiving party and the fictionalized message shows the message has reached its purpose normally. From this angle, there’s an important connection between the public spot advertisements which has the purpose of creating a common consciousness and the concept of lifelong learning. In this research it’s aimed that the student views about lifelong learning and public spot advertising signs in the example of “Reading Culture Themed Public Spot Advertisement” to be examined. In the research phenomenology which is one of the qualitative research patterns has been used. For data collection interview forms have been used and the data has been analysed with the method of descriptive analysis. In the research, it has been revived that public spot advertisements contribute to the lifelong learning of the participants. As a result of the analysis conducted in the research, the themes of lifelong learning, education-themed public spot advertisements, acquirement of lifelong learning experience and its contribution to the educational process, sharing, attitudes, visual coding, book-reading, attention and slogans have been arisen. In the research, significant differences haven’t occurred between positive and negative views of the participants according to the slogans broadcasted at the end of the public spot advertisements, however it’s been determined that there are positive critical approaches that the slogans are successfully conveying the messages expected to be given. More public spot advertisements to be prepared and working on social awareness on this subject has been suggested.

This study aims to investigate the insights of students and teacher in the implementation of online-based instruction with the Flipped Learning method applied in academic writing class, where students get material online from the teacher and study independently at home. Flipped classroom is basically a combination of e-learning and face-to-face instructional principles. This study involved Indonesian university students and 1 teacher who applied flipped learning method in an academic writing class. The result shows that students tend to like this method because it saves more time and the material can be repeated according to their needs. On the other hand, the teacher also likes the implementation of this method because students become more active in discussions with the knowledge they have gained prior to the class. However, students also admit that they are still unfamiliar with online learning platform used. The teacher also has difficulty in finding suitable teaching materials that can attract students' interests. However, in general, students and teacher both agree that the implementation of flipped learning in writing class is suitable.

This study aims to state the opinions and recommendations of academics who train special education teachers for integration applications. The study is patterned as a descriptive case study, and the participants consist of 28 faculty members from 18 universities who work in the special education undergraduate program and whose professional experience ranges from 5 to 45 years. The study data were collected through face-to-face interviews with participants using the semi-structured interview technique. The obtained data were analyzed through descriptive analysis. The findings show that most academics think that integration is not being applied today and that there is a lack of necessary infrastructure for its application. Faculty members participating in the study stated that teachers do not receive adequate training about integration, teachers should undergo serious in-service training, and courses related to special education should be introduced in all departments of the faculty of education. For successful integration, it is necessary to make physical and educational arrangements, provide support education services, train teachers to have an integration perspective and improve their attitudes. In conclusion, integration is an application that can only be realized with the joint effort of all parties through multidimensional discussions of its contents.
