The aim of this study is to analyse the speaking anxiety of Turkish teacher candidates studying in Kafkas University. The sample group of the research designed in the survey model consists of 181 Turkish teacher candidates studying in Kafkas University Faculty of Education in fall term of the 2018-2019 Academic Year, who are selected by the random sampling method. The “Speaking Anxiety Scale for the Teacher Candidates” consisting of three sub-dimensions, namely the “physiological symptoms”, “skill-related anxiety” and “psychological state” and 40 items developed by Kinay and Ozkan (2014) has been used in the study as the data collection tool. The findings of the study where the SPSS 17.0 software package is used for data analysis have revealed that; while the speaking anxiety levels of Turkish teacher candidates are not high and do not change depending on their gender or their willingness to become a teacher, they change significantly depending on their grade and public speaking experience.

The aim of this research is to determine the anxiety levels of teacher candidates regarding Facebook usage in education and analyse it according to various variables. In the research, descriptive survey model was used which is one of the quantitative research methods. The population of the research includes 184 teacher candidates who are receiving education in the Department of Computer and Instructional Technologies Education of Siirt University Faculty of Education in 2017-2018 academic year. Since the population is accessible, no attempt has been made for sampling. Facebook Usage Anxiety in Education (FUAE) scale was used as data collection inventory in the study. According to results obtained in the research; it was seen that the anxiety levels of teacher candidates were high while using Facebook, Facebook usage anxiety had no significant difference with respect to class and age independent variables; however, there was a meaningful difference with respect to gender independent variable.

Without being aware of it, metaphorical concepts reveal their expressions word for word in our social life. It is the expression of thoughts using concrete and abstract concepts. The aim of this study is to reveal the mental perceptions of teacher candidates about entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship skills by using metaphors. The participants of the study are teacher candidates studying in ten different branches at the Faculty of Education in Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University in the 2019-2020 academic year. In the research, as a data collection tool, a form that includes the expression "Entrepreneurship education / entrepreneurship skill…… because……" was used to identify metaphors for entrepreneurship education. The data obtained from the data collection tool were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. Content analysis and metaphor analysis were used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings obtained from the study, pre-service teachers produced a total of 100 metaphors for entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship skills. These metaphors have been classified into three categories in total, without metaphors for the theoretical framework of entrepreneurship education, metaphors for the values of entrepreneurship education, and metaphors for skills of entrepreneurship education.

<p><strong>ABSTRACT</strong></p><p>In this study, it is aimed to reveal the perceptions of 4th grade prospective teachers studying in Kastamonu University with respect to the concept of democracy through metaphors. By giving emphasis on common objectives in line with the metaphors students produced, the inferences were made about what they understand from the democracy and direction of their perceptions. In accordance with the nature of the research, qualitative research design "phenomenological pattern" was used. The study group includes a total of 297 prospective teachers who voluntarily participate the study, including 76 men and 221 women girls studying in the fourth class in Kastamonu University Faculty of Education in the 2016-2017 academic year. A survey form, consisted of 1 open-ended question, was used as data collection tool to set students’ perceptions. The participants were asked to fulfil the “Democracy is like …… because …..” expressions featured in the survey form. Data were analyzed with content analysis technique. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. In the study, prospective teachers developed 149 different metaphors about the concept of democracy. According to the results obtained in this study, prospective teachers focused on most freedom sun, seesaw, water, balance, tree, equality, bird, life, justice, father, rainbow, sky, shield, breath, train and conscience metaphors. Teacher candidates see the concept of democracy with metaphors that they develop as a factor changing from the point of view. In the study, it was determined that the perception of democracy changed according to gender. In addition, it is seen that prospective teachers perceive democracy as different from each other according to their branches.</p><p><strong>Öz</strong></p><p>Bu çalışmada, Kastamonu Üniversitesi’nde öğrenim görmekte olan çeşitli branşlara sahip dördüncü sınıf öğretmen adaylarının demokrasi kavramına ilişkin sahip oldukları algıları metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda oluşturulan metaforların ortak özellikleri üzerinde durularak, yükseköğretimde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin demokrasi hakkındaki algılarının ne yönde olduğu ve demokrasiden ne anladıkları hakkında çıkarımlar yapılmıştır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden birisi olan olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu, 2016-2017 eğitim öğretim dönemi bahar yarıyılında araştırmaya gönüllü olarak katılmayı kabul eden 221’i kız 76’sı erkek olmak 297 öğretmen adayından oluşmaktadır. Öğretmen adaylarının belirlenen kavramlarla ilgili algılarının ortaya koyulması amacıyla veri toplama aracı olarak, bir adet açık uçlu sorudan oluşan form kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada öğretmen adaylarından “Demokrasi … gibidir; çünkü … .” ifadesini tamamlamaları istenerek veriler elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yoluyla çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada öğretmen adayları demokrasi kavramına yönelik 149 farklı metafor geliştirmişlerdir. Bu çalışmada öğretmen adayları bu metaforlardan en fazla özgürlük, güneş, tahterevalli, su, terazi, ağaç, eşitlik, kuş, hayat, adalet, baba, gökkuşağı, gökyüzü, kalkan, nefes, tren ve vicdan metaforları üzerinde durmuşlardır. Öğretmen adayları geliştirdikleri metaforlarla demokrasi kavramını daha çok bakış açısına göre değişen bir unsur olarak görmektedirler. Çalışmada demokrasiyi algılama biçiminin cinsiyete göre değiştiği tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğretmen adaylarının demokrasiyi branşlarına göre birbirlerinden farklı olarak algıladıkları görülmektedir. </p>

The aim of this study is to examine the opinions of social studies teacher candidates about smoking addiction. For the purpose of the study, phenomenological research design, which is one of the designs of qualitative research method, was used. The study group consisted of 20 volunteer teacher candidates (10 male and 10 female) who have been studying at Usak University Faculty of Education in the 2019-2020 academic year and who have been smoking for the last year. Data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. The interview form, which is a data collection tool, was prepared based on the opinions of three experts. 6 open-ended questions were asked to the participants according to expert opinions. The data was analyzed by content analysis.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Education students’ levels of speaking anxiety are predicted by the variables of gender, department, grade, such sub-dimensions of “Speaking Self-Efficacy Scale for Pre-Service Teachers” as “public speaking”, “effective speaking”, “applying the speaking rules”, “organizing the speech content”, and “evaluating the speech”. Correlational survey model is employed in the study. While the dependent variable of the study is students’ “speaking anxiety”, its independent variables are gender, department, grade, and such sub-dimensions of “Speaking Self-Efficacy Scale for Pre-Service Teachers” as “public speaking”, “effective speaking”, “applying the speaking rules”, “organizing the speech content”, and “evaluating the speech”. The research population consists of 2983 students studying at seven departments of Faculty of Education of Cumhuriyet University in the 2015-2016 academic year. The research sample, on the other hand, is composed of 1057 students from seven departments of Faculty of Education of Cumhuriyet University. Data were collected via “Scale of Speaking Anxiety for Prospective Teachers”, which was developed by Kınay and Özkan (2014) to determine pre-service teachers’ speaking anxiety, and “Speaking Self-Efficacy Scale for Pre-Service Teachers”, which was developed by Katrancı and Melanlıoğlu (2013) to determine pre-service teachers’ speaking self-efficacy. Data were collected through ordinal logistic regression analysis as the dependent variable was made three-category and ordinal through cluster analysis. According to the logistic regression analysis results, gender, department, such sub-dimensions of “Speaking Self-Efficacy Scale for Pre-Service Teachers” as “public speaking” and “applying the speaking rules” have a significant influence on speaking anxiety.

In this study, pre-service teachers’ attitudes and readiness towards e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic were examined. This research was carried out in the Fall Semester of the 2020-2021 Academic Year, with the participation of 519 pre-service teachers from Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education and Faculty of Sport Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports Education. In the collection of data, the General Attitude Scale towards e-learning developed by Haznedar and Baran (2012) and the Online Learning Readiness Scale adapted to Turkish Culture by İlhan and Çetin (2013), were used. In this study, it was found that pre-service teachers had a negative attitude towards e-learning and that they considered themselves competent in terms of e-learning readiness. There was no difference in terms of e-learning attitudes and readiness of the teacher candidates according to the department they studied. In addition, it was found that there was a significant relationship between pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards e-learning and their readiness, and that e-learning readiness was an effective factor in the adoption of the e-learning process.

The developments in science and technology have led to changes in the expectations of countries from the future and the individuals. In the 21st century, focusing on innovative approaches in the education system has become compulsory to raise individuals who question, find rapid and effective solutions to problems and who could think scientifically. One of these approaches is Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) training. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between STEM and STEM sub-dimensions. The study group consists of 204 teacher candidates from different departments of the Faculty of Education of Sakarya University during the academic year 2018/2019. To collect data, the attitude scale for STEM and the sub-dimensions of STEM were used in the study. One-way ANOVA was used in this correlation for parametric tests. According to the results of the study, there is a positive and significant relationship between STEM and all STEM sub-dimensions based on the data collected from teacher candidates. The objective of this research is to present the relation between employment hope levels and emotional expressivity levels of music teacher candidates. A total of 226 music teacher candidates studying Music Education in Faculties of Fine Arts in Marmara University, Trakya University, Karadeniz Technical University and Necmettin Erbakan University in 2015-2016 academic year constituted the study group of the research. Employment Hope Scale, Berkeley Expressivity Scale and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tool. Data acquired through these scales were analyzed through Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. In this study, a significantly relation was found between employment hope levels and emotional expressivity levels of music teacher candidates.

The purpose of this study is to examine classroom management skills of education faculty students. This study is a qualitative one designed as a case study. The study took place in classroom management courses at a faculty of education of one of the state universities in Turkey in the academic year of 2020-2021. The participants were identified through purposive sampling method. 3rd grade education faculty students taking the classroom management course were selected as participants. The application took nearly three months. The data were collected through a rubric developed by the researcher, field notes and participant feedbacks. The data were analyzed through content analysis. the data from the observation notes and participant feedback interviews were coded and the results, including the results from the scoring of the rubric, are presented with frequencies and percentages. The results showed that education faculty students have difficulty especially about introduction to lessons, using the space in the classroom and some issues concerning communication skills like speaking, speaking in public, intonation, breath and voice control. Beside these the students performed between poor and average about motivating and engaging students, making eye contact, using body language, interacting and establishing effective communication with the class and providing feedback. They also had difficulty with using the time efficiently.
