A major urban development in Cork City entailed dewatering and very deep excavations for new basements. This revealed significant archaeology from the Viking period, which was excavated where necessary. A very successful series of public events followed, with senior politicians visiting. This paper concludes by emphasising the need to provide the public with accurate information.

Dedicated emergency medical services (EMS) are important to patients’ chances of survival. In particular, the quicker such services arrive at the scene of an incident, the higher the survival rate. Therefore, the management of ambulance bases is an essential aspect of emergency medical services. Further, the locations of ambulance bases are determined based on patient demand. However, in practice, many elements should be taken into account in a risk assessment of given areas within a locale. Specifically, each area should be assessed for the number and severity of accidents that ordinarily take place there, the number and size of the public events it hosts, its population density, and the number of elderly people resident. In this study, we use a spatial-temporal approach to integrate those factors into a risk assessment of areas relative to each other in a locale. Based on this risk assessment, we determine the optimal locations for ambulance bases in order to minimize response time. We validate our approach using Bangkok as a case study.

Communicating a local cultural institution on the example of Elbląg Cultural Society in Elbląg The article joins the discussion on marketing communication of Polish cultural institutions that are also public benefit organizations. The aim of the article is to identify and analyse selected forms and tools used by the Elbląg Cultural Association – a Public Benefit Organization in Elbląg to communicate with the local community and an assessment of this communication. Research methods such as face-to-face interview, case study, desk research and participant observation were used. Research has shown that the majority of Polish local cultural institutions conduct marketing communication in an inept manner, without preparation, without a strategy of action, implementing most often broadly defined Internet promotion. The Elbląg Cultural Association communicates correctly, in a well-planned and efficiently organized manner with its local community. Using various communication tools, it implements many cultural projects, informing the public about them well in advance. It does not remain indifferent to comments and ideas obtained in the form of feedback from participants of cultural events.

Abstract. Urban expansion is a phenomenon that has been observed since the mid-20th century in more developed regions. One aspect of it is the urban development of holiday resorts with second homes that generally appeared following world political stabilisation. This residential expansion has often happened with scarce control, especially in its early stages, allowing areas to be occupied that are not so suitable in terms of the environment, culture and landscape, not to mention the very geological risks of flooding, earthquakes and landslides. Indeed, the risk of landslides for buildings occupying land in zones at such risk is not a matter solely attributable to the geomorphological characteristics of the land itself, nor is it simply a question of chance; it is also due to its management of such land, generally because of a lack of specific regulations. This study aims to lay down objective criteria to find how suitable a specific local entity's risk management is by looking at the evolution of its urban development procedures. It also aims to determine what causes the incidence of landslide risk (geomorphology, chance, land management, etc.) and finally to suggest control tools for the public bodies tasked with monitoring such matters.

By increase of age group of people older than 60 years and problems of aging period, it seems necessary to provide favorable environmental conditions in order to increase life expectancy of this group. One of the public spaces which had been much underlined in traditional urban development and has double importance for the elderly and receives less attention today is the district. This paper, aiming at planning urban districts tailored to the needs of the elderly, provides required criteria in district planning through descriptive-analytical method. Finally, by offering components of: familiarity, readability, dignity, accessibility, convenience, security and beautification in the district planning process of Kerman Arg district, these components are applied.

Contraction, downsizing, rescaling and subtraction are all words that characterise the urban planning debate with increasing frequency. Two components can be found at the basis of their circulation and declination. On the one hand, the recognition of the vast unused and disused real estate for which regeneration, reuse and renovation are not possible; on the other hand, the will and hope to rebalance the results of the hypertrophic twentieth-century urban development. The legitimacy of these instances is the wides pread belief that demolition and contraction are low-cost operations that can be financed by the owners of the property or through the usual equalisation and negotiation mechanisms. By using a case study, this paper will clear up amis understanding; it will explain how demolition and subtraction costs, which can be put on equal footing with renovations and, in some cases, new construction are sufficiently massive making their implementation within the public and public-private policies very difficult.

This piece serves as an exploratory study into the combination of blockchain-aware smart meters and radical economic paradigms. Load shedding is examined through this novel lens. Load shedding is an established means of preventing system collapse under emergency conditions. An auctioned load shedding hierarchy method is proposed whereby participating parties bid on tokens (SALtoks) guaranteeing access to supply during load shedding. This method is based on the recently developed Self Assessed Licenses Sold via Auction paradigm developed. Under this paradigm, SALtoks are subject to taxes based on valuations, while also being subject to continuous auction. A case study is performed on a hypothetical island power system. Higher ranking SALtoks are held by larger consumers. The method is found to mitigate economic impacts by allowing industry to maintain supply during load shedding. Smaller consumers, while subject to more frequent interruptions, gain the public benefit of increased income from taxation.

Yuliddin Away Regional General Hospital (RSUDYA) as an institution provides individual health services in a complete manner that often experiences obstacles in providing optimum services to community, in some cases, complaints from the public. During this time, complaints are accommodated by the existence of a complaint box in each service division, but the use of this method is difficult to obtain accurate information and the process of executing these complaints requires a relatively long period. The implementation of information and communication technology in the form of applications is expected to improve responsive and informative service quality. Through the Android-based Complaints application, it was found that with the use of this application the community was easy in providing advice and criticism of the services of Yuliddin Away Hospital.

This study aims to determine the effect of TOD on the phenomenon of gentrification, the phenomenon of urban development and its influence in accelerating the distribution of development. The Maja area in Banten will be used as a case study where in accordance with the 2015-2019 RPJMN the area was also selected as one of the Public New Economic Zones in order to create a city that is safe, comfortable and livable and is expected to break down urban density so that equitable development can be realized. To achieve the objectives of this study, the analytical method that is used is descriptive analysis by comparing the precedents of the TOD concept in existing case studies with the case studies raised, namely the Citra Maja Development Project, in the Maja Region. After that, the validation of the results of the analysis is done so that a conclusion is that the Citra Maja Development Project is a good case to be used as a model for regional development with the TOD concept with the support of other licensing and administrative facilities by the government, thus indirectly suppressing the phenomenon of gentrification occurs in sub-urban areas

Abstract The main objective of the paper is to present a model of the good practices of deliberative cooperation in a parliamentary setting. This goal is achieved through applying the three functions of the deliberative system—epistemic, ethical and democratic (Mansbridge et al. 2012)—to an analysis of cooperation between different stakeholders during the work of a Polish Parliamentary Subcommittee. They are used as an evaluative tool for analysing the cooperation of MPs, members of the public and representatives of the government (promoters of the bill). The paper analyses a concrete example of the work of the Permanent Subcommittee on the government bill amending the Act on Public Benefit Activity and Voluntary Work in the Polish Parliament. This concrete example is presented as a model of good practices when it comes to deliberative cooperation between representatives of the authorities and citizens aiming at the development of shared practical judgement. The paper consists of three parts. In the first, a systemic approach to deliberative democracy is briefly introduced, and the history of the work on the bill is outlined. The main part consists of an analysis of the three speeches of three main stakeholders in the legislative process, from the perspective of their view of legislative deliberations, and in terms of the three functions of deliberative system. In the conclusions, four main issues are analysed with reference to the presented legislative deliberations: 1. Legislative committees as mixed deliberative spheres; 2. Internal/external deliberation; 3. The distinction between stakeholders/ordinary citizens; and 4. Deliberative stance/deliberative mindset.
