Characterization of Metal Matrix Composites

In the production of metal-matrix composites there are numerous variables in materials, processing, and testing that can affect the mechanical properties that are determined. A study was made of a large number of these variables in order to establish the effect of each one on the tensile strength. Results indicate that test specimen preparation and testing technique result in greater variations in strength determined than material or processing variations.
