COOL™ Hose Qualification Process of the First EN1474-2 LNG Floating Hose

In 2005, SBM Offshore recognized that in future offshore Floating LNG Production Units, key enabling technologies would be required to ensure the safe and reliable tandem offloading to LNG Carriers. The foundation was thus laid down for the development of the COOL™ Hose: A cryogenic marine floating hose that would enable the tandem offloading between two vessels offshore. This paper presents, after an introduction to the COOL™ Hose design (Hose in Hose concept-HiH), the different steps in the qualification process following the EN1474-2 [1] guidelines and recommendations for design and testing of LNG transfer hoses. This qualification process has been endorsed by two Classification Societies ABS and DNV and has resulted in a Certificate of Fitness for Service from DNV and a Product Design Assessment Certificate from ABS making the SBM COOL™ Hose, the first EN1474-2 qualified LNG floating hose.

The interconnection among heterogeneous sensors and data acquisition equipment in cyber-physical systems have profound significance in achieving adaptability, flexibility, and transparency. Various middlewares have been developed in cyber-physical systems to collect, aggregate, correlate, and translate system monitoring data. Existing middleware solutions are normally highly customized, which face several challenges due to the highly dynamic and harsh production environments. The data generated by sensors can only be shared by specific applications, which prevents the reusability of sensors. Moreover, the lack of uniform access to sensors causes high cost and low efficiency in application development. To address these issues, a resource-oriented middleware architecture called ROMiddleware was proposed, and three key enabling technologies including heterogeneous sensor modeling and grouping, open application programming interfaces development, and token-based access right control mechanism have been developed. Under the guidance of the key enabling technologies, a prototype of ROMiddleware was implemented and its performance was evaluated. Finally, two applications were developed to stress the significance of ROMiddleware. The results show that ROMiddleware can meet the requirements of data acquisition in cyber-physical systems.

Znaczenie przedsiębiorczości technologicznej dla polskiej gospodarki wyraża się wzrostem konkurencyjności polskich przedsiębiorstw i ich produktów na rynkach zagranicznych. Wiodące w tym obszarze są kluczowe technologie wspomagające (Key Enabling Technologies - KET), do których zaliczanych jest obecnie sześć grup branżowych, wytypowanych przez Komisję Europejską. Przedstawione w niniejszym referacie wyniki badań, mają na celu zwrócić uwagę na rolę i znaczenie, jakie ma dla polskiej gospodarki poznanie i wspieranie rozwoju KET. W tym celu opracowano i zastosowano autorską metodę identyfikacji podmiotów KET, a następnie przeprowadzono ich analizę klasyfikacyjną. Zaproponowano również wskaźnik potencjału, który dokonuje oceny siły, z jaką przedsiębiorstwo jest w stanie spełniać zadania postawione przed KET. W efekcie było możliwe wskazanie polskich przedsiębiorstw produkcyjnych, które można określić mianem KET i które stanowią punkt wyjścia dla pogłębionych badań i analiz.

This study aimed to develop the feasibility of the Mahârah al-Istimâ’ test instrument for electronic-based Arabic students using the Kahoot! application at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The method used in this research is the research and development of  Borg and Gall model through analysis, design, and testing. Eligibility is based on the expert validator test and the final operation field test. The results of the study can be concluded that: 1) Preparation of the Test Instrument refers to the 5 objectives or indicators of Mahmud Kamil an-Naqah into 50 questions in product design using the Kahoot! application, 2) From the results of the expert validator it is known that the results of the material quality are obtained by an average 5.37 and the media quality of the application is obtained by an average of 4.75 (very feasible), 3) After being obtained from the main field test to 20 students there are 6 questions or 12% that are not feasible because they are invalid and have not discrimination index, then the author revise and test the revision results to 70 students with 100% valid results and are suitable for use.

It is becoming more critical for developed countries to deliver long-term and financially sustainable healthcare services to an expanding ageing population, especially in the area of residential aged care. There is a general consensus that innovations in the area of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are key enabling technologies for reaching this goal. The major focus of this chapter is on WSN design considerations for ubiquitous wellness monitoring systems in residential aged care facilities. The major enabling technologies for building a pervasive WSN will be explored, including details on sensor design, wireless communication protocols and network topologies. Also examined are various data processing methods and knowledge management tools to support the collection of sensor data and their subsequent analysis for health assessment. Future systems that incorporate the two aspects of wellness monitoring, vital signs and activities of daily living (ADL) monitoring, will also be introduced.

In this study, key enabling technologies such as the oxide liner by the PECVD, the barrier and seed layers by the PVD, and Cu-plating of blind TSVs on 300mm wafers for 3D integration are investigated. Emphases are placed on the determination and optimization of the important parameters for each of the key enabling technologies. Also, leakage currents of the fabricated Cu-filled TSVs are measured. Furthermore cross sections and SEM of the fabricated TSVs are provided and examined.
