ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium strain SL7207 is a genetically modified derivative of strain SL1344, which preferentially accumulates in tumors and can be used as a vehicle for tissue-specific gene delivery in vivo. Here, we report the draft genome sequence of SL7207, confirming a purported aroA deletion and four single-nucleotide polymorphisms compared to SL1344.

Lactobacillus fermentum Lf2, an Argentine cheese isolate, can produce high concentrations of exopolysaccharides (EPS). These EPS were shown to improve the texture and rheology of yogurt, as well as to play a protective role in mice exposed to Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Streptococcus pneumoniae EF3030, a pediatric otitis media isolate active in biofilm assays of epithelial colonization. The final draft assembly included 2,209,198 bp; the annotation predicted 2,120 coding DNA sequences (CDSs), 4 complete rRNA operons, 58 tRNAs, 3 noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), and 199 pseudogenes.

Bacteriophage Siskin is a member of the χ-like siphovirus phage cluster that infects Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium strain LT2. Here, we report the complete 58,476-bp sequence of the Siskin genome, provide confirmation of its genomic termini, and describe a potentially new class of holins and endolysins found in the lysis cassette.

ABSTRACT We report a draft genome sequence of extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi isolated from a returned traveler from Pakistan who developed sepsis. Whole-genome sequencing revealed relatedness to a previously reported outbreak in Pakistan and identified the blaCTX-M-15 and qnrS resistance genes.

ABSTRACT We report a 4.99-Mb draft genome sequence of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Infantis strain SPE101, isolated from feces of a 5-month-old breast-fed female showing diarrhea associated with severe dehydration and malnutrition. The infection prolonged for 6 months despite antibiotic treatment.

ABSTRACT We report here the draft genome sequence of Lactobacillus fermentum CRL1446 (2,148,781 bp, 51.4% G+C content). This strain exhibits feruloyl esterase activity and important technological and probiotic properties. Because of its proven beneficial effects in vivo, it represents an interesting candidate for the development of functional foods or pharmabiotics for malnutrition.
