There are described some alternatives to traditional technical solutions used in the designs of experimental Tokamak thermonuclear installations. The proposals must significantly reduce capital costs of the construction of toroidal field windings for thermonuclear power plants of this type. Cost reduction may be achieved by choosing a coil design that excludes degradation of the properties of a superconducting cable, significant simplifications of the cable design, cooling the winding with thermosyphon, avoiding the occurrence of high voltages due to using a quench back method for the winding protection, A procedure is described for the reliable selection of the operating current of the cable and the maximum permissible values of the electric field in it. It is considered also a facility of access to the thermonuclear unit of the power plant for routine service without dismantling the toroidal field winding and its vacuum shell.

Many electrical appliances are used in production and in everyday life, which include elements that are extremely sensitive to voltage deviations from acceptable values. Failure in their work can cause equipment failure or a breakdown in technological processes. There are a number of technical solutions to solve this problem, one of which is the using of voltage control devices such as boost transformers. The principle of operation of booster transformers is the introduction of a longitudinal EMF into the electric circuit, which provides booster. The choice of voltage regulation devices consists in determining its power and the required transformation ratio. The latter needs some justification, because it cannot be formally accepted: if it is necessary to increase the voltage, for example by 5%, it is enough to introduce a longitudinal EMF of 5% of the nominal voltage into the electric circuit. This is due to the fact that with increasing voltage from the load side, the power consumption also increases, which causes an increase in voltage drop compared to modes in the absence of voltage regulation devices. Thus, the load will receive a slightly lower voltage level in comparison with the desired one.

New electrical machines design assumes the execution of research and test-design works with a choice and selection of the effective technical solutions. The prototypes characteristics control is implemented by testing them in laboratory using the automated tools and methods. The automation provides relevant datasets for further analysis. In the paper the algorithms and methods for studying the general purpose induction motors performance characteristics have been proposed. The changes of dependence of the motor efficiency on the output power alterations, caused by using different technical solutions, have been studied. Based on experience of the electrical machines testing in a specialized laboratory, the task of evaluating the induction motors energy efficiency when operating in S1 mode (continuous duty) with overloads occurrence, has been formulated. A method for solving the problem based on the efficiency curves has been proposed. The results have been implemented in a computer program and can be used to improve the technical solutions, allowing an achievement of the target energy efficiency indicators.

The distance between Norway’s second and fourth largest cities, Bergen and Stavanger, is only 150 km. The E39 link between the cities involves as per today several ferry connections, therefore the planning of a fixed connection with bridges and subsea tunnels has been going on for some years. A major technical challenge is the crossing of Bjørnafjord, since the fjord at this site is about 5000m wide and 500m deep.

This paper describes the development of technical solutions to cross the Bjørnafjord, and the evaluation and challenges met in the different stages of the project until a preferred solution was reached in 2019. Advanced analyses and evaluations have been performed to cope with challenges like wave/wind/current interactions, ship collision, parametric excitation and subsea landslides. The work performed will provide a major contribution to future largescale strait crossings in the world.

The selection of equipment for mechanical wastewater treatment is an important stage in the reconstruction or new construction of the treatment facilities that determines their efficiency and reliability in terms of the technology and operation. The examples of the currently widespread technical solutions for designing filtering cloth of the screens for mechanical wastewater treatment are given. The effectiveness of these solutions is compared. On the basis of studying wastewater treatment facilities in Germany, a comparison of the debris retention efficiency depending on the applied filtration grade, i. e., two-dimensional (perforation) and one-dimensional (bar spacing) is presented.

Although cyberbullying is a well-studied online risk, little is known about the effectiveness of various coping strategies for its victims. Therefore, this study on 2,092 Czech children aged 12-18 examined which coping strategies were applied most often and to what extent victims of cyber aggression judged them to be effective. Effectiveness was measured in two ways: the extent to which the coping strategy buffered negative emotions, and the extent to which it stopped the cyber aggression. The subsample of 422 respondents (68% girls) who experienced online attacks was divided into two groups: victims of cyberbullying, who experienced long-term and severe victimization, and victims of less severe online harassment. The selection of strategies was compared between these groups and the most prevalent and effective strategies were identified. Overall, respondents in both groups used more than one strategy at once, but for victims of cyberbullying, most of the strategies proved less effective. Both groups showed similar patterns in their use of technical solutions, and both quite frequently sought social support. Also, both groups showed a low tendency for retaliation. Large differences were found in how respondents employed cognitive responses, such as trying to detach mentally from bullying incidents; these strategies were less frequent among victims of cyberbullying. In terms of effectiveness, victims of harassment considered technical solutions such as blocking contacts on social websites, seeking support, or ignoring the bully on purpose the most effective in stopping victimization, as opposed to victims of cyberbullying, who found them less effective, even though they used them as frequently as victims of online harassment. Differences in the effectiveness of coping strategies are discussed with regard to the intervention and prevention of cyberbullying.

Analysis of the most common design and technological solutions used in thermal modernization, showed the impossibility of choosing the optimal solution for a single enclosing structure only by direct assessment of physical, mechanical and technical and economic characteristics. It is proposed to select the optimal design and technological solution in thermal modernization projects from all possible in two stages. At the first stage, it is necessary to discard those solutions, the implementation of which for this type of building is technically impossible or economically or technically impractical. In the second - to assess the system of indicators that comprehensively characterize the design and technological solution. In the article, based on the analysis of literature sources and the authors' own experience in the development and maintenance of thermal modernization projects, a system of criterion evaluation for structural and technological solutions of thermal modernization is developed. The criterion evaluation system for structural and technological solutions of thermal modernization contains a number of indicators that take into account the physicochemical properties of the insulation, environmental friendliness, reliability and stability of the insulation system, technological factors such as maintainability, seasonality, high quality of work due to system technology, ability to sound insulation, economy, artistic efficiency. The method of expert evaluations for each criterion and sub-criterion determines its weight in the overall evaluation. The system of evaluation of technical decisions of thermal modernization of enclosing designs developed by us provides that the estimation on criteria which have subcriteria is defined as the sum of estimations of subcriteria. The evaluation of the criteria is carried out on a five-point scale. The optimal technical solution is the solution that received the highest score on the total.
