ObjectiveTo determinate the prevalence of EDs in national adult male team sports players.MethodologyAn observational study was conducted with 124 football, rugby, volleyball, handball, water polo, baseball and hockey players ranging between 18 and 55 years old. All subjects signed the informed consent before participating in the study. Data were collected via an online form including four validated questionnaires: The Eating Habits Questionnaire for Athletes, the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-40), the Eating Disorders Inventory-2 and the Body Shape Questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted with the software IBM SPSS V.23.0.0.Results18.5% of the population presented a clinical profile compatible with an ED diagnosis. We cannot confidently say that the prevalence of EDs within our sample is conditioned by the analysed variables.ConclusionMale team sports players may also be a high-risk group in the development of EDs. Risk factors such as young age, semiprofessional sporting status and body fat composition could influence its development.

(1) Background: The preoccupation with the increasing appearance of eating disorders (ED) in athletes continues to grow, especially in athletes who practice team sports. ED severely affects the eating habits of the athletes, who tend to use unhealthy approaches to control their body weight. The development of nutritional education and early interventions by training staff is essential, and these factors are widely perceived as beneficial in sports medicine. This study evaluates the frequency at which beach handball (BH) players develop ED, also comparing the differences by sex and age (junior: adolescents vs. senior: young adults). In addition, the relation between body composition variables and ED was studied. (2) Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 69 top elite handball players (36 males and 33 females) from the Spanish National BH Team; who were separated by age (junior: adolescents and senior: young adults). The athletes completed the Eating Attitudes Test in its 26 item version (EAT-26). (3) Results: The prevalence of ED indicated that 11% of females had a high possibility of developing an ED, and 3% of males. Regarding the EAT-26 total score and subscales, no significant differences were found between female and male participants, or between the junior and senior categories. The correlations showed an association between body composition, in terms of body mass index, and the EAT-26 total score in both males and females. In the case of males, the correlation was negative. (4) Conclusions: Although there are no significant differences between sex or categories, it has been found that elite athletes are a population that is at high risk of developing ED.

Objective: To examine eating disorder attitudes and psychopathology among female university students in Australia and Thailand. Method: Participants were 110 Caucasian Australians, 130 Asian Australians and 101 Thais in Thailand. The instruments included the Eating Attitudes Test (EAT) and the Eating Disorders Inventory (EDI). Results: Eating disorder attitudes and psychopathology scores in the Thai group were found to be highest. The Asian Australian group did not have significantly higher scores on the EAT-26 than the Caucasian Australian group, but had higher scores in some subscales of the EDI-2. That the Thai group had the highest scores in susceptibility to developing an eating disorder and eating disorder psychopathology may be partially explained in sociocultural terms, with pressure to be thin more extreme in Thailand than in Australia. The evidence suggested that unhealthy eating disorder psychopathology is not limited to Western societies but is already present in Thai and other Asian societies.

The intensity and effort of bodybuilding training suggest an overinvestment in body shape and physical appearance, which has been suggested to be a risk factor for developing eating disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of eating disorder tendencies among a sample of collegiate male bodybuilders (BB,n= 68) and controls (C,n= 50) (nonbodybuilders), using the Eating Disorders Inventory 2 (EDI-2).Ttests were used to test the hypothesis that bodybuilders' scores would be higher than those of controls. The mean scores on the EDI-2 did not indicate the presence of eating disorder tendencies for either group. Controls scored significantly higher than bodybuilders on the Body Dissatisfaction scale. Results indicate that when the EDI-2 is used, college-age male bodybuilders are not shown to be more likely to have eating disorders than a group of college-age male controls.

Objetivo: determinar la relación entre las conductas alimentarias de riesgo y la imagen corporal en los estudiantes de enfermería durante el primer semestre del año 2015. Materiales y Métodos: estudio de tipo cuantitativo, correlacional. Se utilizaron como instrumentos, el Test de Imagen Corporal - Cuestionario Body Shape Questionnaire y el Test De Actitudes Alimentarias - 26. La muestra estuvo conformada por 181 estudiantes. Resultados: la mayor proporción de estudiantes pertenecen al género femenino, las edades fluctuaron entre los 16 a 28 años, predominando el estado civil soltero, pertenecientes a un estrato socioeconómico bajo (1 -2) y conviven con sus padres. El 63% obtuvo un estado nutricional normal, la mayor parte de ellos no presentaron conductas alimentarias de Riesgo (94%) y se encontraban satisfechos con su imagen corporal (91%). Se estableció una relación estadísticamente significativa entre las conductas alimentarias de riesgo y la imagen corporal. Conclusiones: los estudiantes de enfermería, en su mayoría, no presentaron conductas alimentarias de riesgo, es decir, no realizan prácticas extremas para el control de su peso corporal y los que la presentaron, pueden tener afectaciones en su desempeño académico, las relaciones interpersonales y la calidad de vida. Así mismo, la mayoría de ellos mostraron una apreciación satisfactoria de su imagen corporal y un pequeño porcentaje, estuvo insatisfecho, reflejando diversos desórdenes de tipo conductual, cognitivo y emocional. Se determinó que la integridad de la imagen corporal disminuye la presencia de conductas alimentarias de riesgo. PALABRAS CLAVE: actitud frente a la salud, enfermería, hábitos alimenticios, satisfacción personal. Risky eating behaviors and their relationship with body image among nursing students                                                                   ABSTRACTGoal: to determine the relationship between eating disorders and body image in nursing students during the first half of 2015. A statistically significant relationship between eating disorders and body image is established. Conclusions: the nursing students in their higher proportion presented no risk eating behaviors, that means that they do not perform extreme practices to control their body weight and that showed that they can have problems in their academic performance, interpersonal relationships and quality of life. Likewise, most of them showed good appreciation of their body image and a small percentage was dissatisfied, reflecting various behavioral disorders, cognitive and emotional. Materiais e Métodos: quantitativa, de correlação. Eles foram usados como instrumentos de teste de imagem corporal - Body Shape Questionnaire Questionnarire e Eating Attitudes Test - 26. A amostra foi composta por 181 alunos. Resultados: a maior proporção de estudantes são do sexo feminino, a idade variou entre 16-28 anos, estado civil, principalmente único, pertencente a um baixo nível socioeconômico (1 -2) e viveu com seus pais. 63% tiveram um estado nutricional normal, a maioria de les não apresentava risco comportamentos alimentares (94%) e foram satisfeitos com a sua imagem corporal (91%). Uma relação estatisticamente significativa entre a imagem corporal transtornos alimentares e é estabelecido. Conclusões: o estudantes de enfermagem em sua maior parte apresentou nenhum risco comportamentos alimentares, o que significa que não realizam práticas extremas para controlar seu peso corporal e os que apresentavam pode ter danos em seu desempenho acadêmico, relações interpessoais e qualidade de vida. Da mesma forma, a maioria deles mostrou uma avaliação satisfatória da imagem corporal e uma pequena percentagem, estava insatisfeito, refletindo vários distúrbios comportamentais, cognitivos e emocionais. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauhmana pengaruh pelatihan berpikir positif terhadap ketidakpuasan terhadap citra tubuh. Penelitian ini menggunakan kerangka teori yang mengacu pada the Body Dissatisfaction subscale of the Eating Disorders Inventory-2 (EDI-2) yang disusun oleh Garner dkk.. Subjek adalah remaja perempuan sekolah menengah atas. Subjek memiliki skor EDI-2 tinggi dan bersedia menjadi subjek dibagi kedalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Subjek kemudian diminta untuk mengisi EDI-2 sebanyak dua kali yaitu sebelum terapi (pretest), sesaat setelah terapi (posttest) serta diminta untuk menuliskan perkembangan emosinya selama pelatihan. Data dalam penelitian berupa data kuantitatif yang dilengkapi dengan data kualitatif untuk menguatkan penjelasan proses terapi, khususnya dari sisi subjek. Data kuantitatif kemudian dianalisis dengan uji-t dua sampel independen (Independent Sample t-test) dan uji berpasangan (Paired t-test) dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada kelompok eksperimen terdapat perbedaan yang sangat signifikan antara skor EDI-2 pada saat posttest dibandingkan dengan saat pretest peningkatan skor sebesar 17,62 dan p = 0,000 (p < 0,05), sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol tidak ada perbedaan skor yang signifikan (p=0.824). Mengenai hasil-hasil temuan penelitian tersebut akan dipaparkan secara lebih luas di dalam diskusi

IntroductionBody dissatisfaction is one of the core psychopathological components in Eating Disorders (EDs) and it tends to persist over time regardless treatment interventions. Perfectionism is considered as a mediator and moderator between body dissatisfaction and disordered eating.ObjectivesTo study the influence of Perfectionism in EDs outcome.AimsTo analyze changes in body dissatisfaction at one year follow-up in patients with eating disorders and the effect of perfectionism over these changes.MethodsParticipants were 151 patients with eating disorders. DSM-IVTR diagnoses were as follows: 44 (29.1%) Anorexia Nervosa (AN), 55 (36.4%) Bulimia Nervosa (BN) and 52 (34.4%) Eating Disorders no Otherwise Specified (EDNOS). Perfectionism was assessed with the Edinburg Investigatory Test (EDI-2). The Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) was also distributed. One year after the beginning of their treatment, patients were reassessed.ResultsPatients with BN showed significantly higher scores on BSQ than those with AN. There was a significant improvement in BSQ after one year of treatment regardless the diagnostic (repeated measures ANOVA: F 8.4, P<.01). Perfectionism was a co-variable that influenced in those changes.ConclusionsThe results confirm the interaction between perfectionism and body dissatisfaction in the treatment outcome of EDs. It has been described an interplay between Perfectionism, body dissatisfaction and disordered eating attitudes and behaviours, being Perfectionism a moderator factor. The results highlight the need of dealing not only with the core symptoms of EDs, but also with the moderator factors such as Perfectionism to enhance the outcome.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Background: the violations of eating behavior began to be actively studied since the mid-20th century. In recent years, researchers from different countries have found new evidence of the role of eating behavior, the patient's eating habits in the development of obesity. Since the scope of the study of eating behavior and its disorders began to develop actively relatively recently, many aspects of this problem have not yet been studied. Aim: was to study the psychological features, body composition and parameters of actual nutrition of women with eating behavior disorders. Methods. We used the Dutch questionnaire DEBQ to analyze the types of eating behavior. To assess the severity of eating disorders inherent in eating disorders, the technique "Scale of Eating Behavior Assessment" was used. The actual mental state of the subjects was studied using a clinical and psychological test a questionnaire of the severity of psychopathological symptoms (SCL-90-R). The component composition of the body was assessed using the apparatus for bioimpedanceometry ABC-01 "Medass". The evaluation of the actual nutrition by the method of frequency analysis was carried out with the help of the computer program "Analysis of the state of human nutrition". Results. In all groups of women with eating disorders, higher values on the scales of desire for thinness, bulimia and dissatisfaction with the body, somatization, obsessional-compulsiveness, interpersonal sensitivity, depressiveness, anxiety were found. As the eating disorders worsened, the consumption of mono-and disaccharides and added sugar increased, which was accompanied by an increase of the body fat, both in absolute and relative units. Conclusions. In women with eating disorders violations of personal and psychological characteristics, nutrition patterns were detected, which were accompanied by an increase in body fat.
