A new method called Step Current Electrodeposition (SCE) is proposed for the nanocrystalline deposition of high uniformity large coating thickness of Ni80Fe20/Cu composite wires. The hysteresis loops of the composite wires, developed by SCE and conventional plating, were measured using an inductance method and a magneto-impedance (MI) experimental setup, and the magnetic properties of the composite wires in terms of the hysteresis loops and the magneto-impedance effect were measured. The results showed that the experimental results obtained, which was in the trend of increasing GMI with increasing coating thickness till an optimum, agree well with the simulated results as found in the literature.1

In this study, coating equipment for the effective underwater repair of submerged structures was developed. The tensile bond characteristics of selected epoxy resin coatings were investigated by coating the surface of a specimen using each of the four types of equipment. Using the experimental results, the tensile bond strength and the coating thickness were analyzed according to the type of equipment, coating, and curing time. The results show that the type of coating equipment used had the greatest effect on the measured bond strength and coating thickness of the selected coatings. However, the effect of coating type and curing time on the bond strength and the thickness was observed to be insignificant. Compared with the developed equipment, the surface treatment of the coating was observed to be more effective when using the pre-existing equipment, and thus the bond performance of the coating was improved compared to using the pre-existing equipment. Based on the experimental results, improvements and needs involving the equipment for further research were discussed.

AbstractMagnetic properties can be manipulated to enhance certain functionalities by tuning different material processing parameters. Here, we present the controllable magnetization steps of hysteresis loops in double-perovskite single crystals of Eu2CoMnO6. Ferromagnetic order emerges below TC ≈ 122 K along the crystallographic c axis. The difficulty in altering Co2+ and Mn4+ ions naturally induces additional antiferromagnetic clusters in this system. Annealing the crystals in different gas environments modifies the mixed magnetic state, and results in the retardation (after O2-annealing) and bifurcation (after Ar-annealing) of the magnetization steps of isothermal magnetization. This remarkable variation offers an efficient approach for improving the magnetic properties of double-perovskite oxides.

Abstract To develop the application of 95Nb as an indicator of redox potential for fuel salt in molten salt reactor (MSR), the specific activity of 95Nb in FLiBe salt and its deposition of 95Nb on Hastelloy C276 have been studied. Experimental results indicated that the amount of 95Nb deposited on Hastelloy C276 resulted from its chemical reduction exhibited a positive correlation with the decrease of 95Nb activity in FLiBe salt and the relative deposition coefficient of 95Nb to 103Ru appeared a well correlation with 95Nb activity in FLiBe salt. Both correlations implied that the measurement of 95Nb activity deposited on Hastelloy C276 specimen might provide a quantitative approach for monitoring the redox potential of fuel salt in MSR.

As an important tool for data analysis and knowledge processing, formal concept analysis (FCA) has been applied to many fields. In this paper, we introduce a new method to find all formal concepts based on formal contexts. The amount of intents calculation is reduced by the method. And the corresponding algorithm of our approach is proposed. The main theorems and the corresponding algorithm are examined by examples, respectively. At last, several real-life databases are analyzed to demonstrate the application of the proposed approach. Experimental results show that the proposed approach is simple and effective.

In the last years, many analyses from acoustic signal processing have been used for different applications. In most cases, these sensor systems are based on the determination of times of flight for signals from every transducer. This paper presents a flat plate generalization method for impact detection and location over linear links or bars-based structures. The use of three piezoelectric sensors allow to achieve the position and impact time while the use of additional sensors lets cover a larger area of detection and avoid wrong timing difference measurements. An experimental setup and some experimental results are briefly presented.

It is possible to replace k2 in a 4th-order Runge-Kutta for mula (also Nth-order 3 ≤ N ≤ 5) by a linear combination of k1 and the ki's in the last step, using the same procedure for computing the other ki's and y as in the standard R-K method. The advantages of the new method are: It re quires one less derivative evaluation, provides an error estimate at each step, gives more accurate results, and needs a minor change to switch to the RK to obtain the starting values. Experimental results are shown in verification of the for mula.

1J79 alloy was prepared by vacuum electric arc smelting. The crystal growth and the content of impurity was observed by electron probe microanalyzer, and magnetic properties were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM).Experimental results show that inclusions in the alloy are fewer and fewer, composition becomes more uniform with the increases of the Mo content, and grain size also becomes larger and larger with the increases of Mo content, to reduce coercivity. The small amount of Mo addition is useful to improve the saturation magnetization and reduce coercivity.

A new method based on electric discharge machining (EDM) was developed for cutting a silicon carbide (SiC) ingot. The EDM method is a very useful technique to cut hard materials like SiC. By cutting with the EDM method, kerf loss and roughness of sample are generally smaller than those obtained by cutting with a diamond saw. Moreover, the warpage is smaller than that by the diamond saw cutting, and the cutting speed can be 10 times faster than that of the diamond saw at the present time. We used wires of 50 mm and 100 mm diameters in the experiments, and the experimental results of the cutting speed and the kerf losses are presented. The kerf loss of the 50 mm wire is less than 100 mm, and the cutting speed is about 0.8 mm/min for the thickness of a 6 mm SiC ingot. If we can maintain the cutting speed, the slicing time of a 2 inches diameter ingot would be about seven hours.

AbstractA new member of the LnMIn5 family, ErCoIn5, has been synthesized by a flux-growth method. The structure of ErCoIn5 was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/mmm, Z = 1, with lattice parameters a = 4.5400(4) and c = 7.3970(7) Å, and V = 152.46(2) Å3. Electrical resistivity data show metallic behavior. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show this compound to be antiferromagnetic with TN = 5.1 K. We compare these experimental results with those of LaCoIn5 in an effort to better understand the effect of the structural trends observed on the transport and magnetic properties.
