Europium-doped Na 1.45 La 8.55-8.55x( SiO 4)6( F 0.9 O 1.1)(0.000 ≤ x ≤ 0.045) phosphors were prepared by a conventional solid-state reaction method at 1200°C and their properties were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), and a spectral analysis system. No impurities were observed. The phosphor could be excited at 254 nm, 395 nm and 465 nm to yield a reddish orange emission which was attributed to the 5 D 0 → 7 F j (j = 0–2) transitions of the Eu ion.

AbstractIn this work, aluminate type phosphorescence materials were synthesized via the solid state reaction method and the photoluminescence (PL) properties, including excitation and emission bands, were investigated considering the effect of trace amounts of activator (Eu3+) and co-activator (Dy3+). The estimated thermal behavior of the samples at certain temperatures (> 1000 °C) during heat treatment was characterized by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and thermogravimetry (TG). The possible phase formation was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The morphological characterization of the samples was performed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The PL analysis of three samples showed maximum emission bands at around 610 nm, and additionally near 589 nm, 648 nm and 695 nm. The bands were attributed to typical transitions of the Eu3+ ions.

We have investigated the effect of the partial substitution of Sb for Ru in Ru 1 - x Sb x Sr 2( Sm 0.7 Ce 0.3)2 Cu 2 O 10 - δ, (Ru:1222) prepared by conventional solid state reaction method, using X-ray diffraction analysis, electrical resistivity and DC-magnetic susceptibility measurements. Sb doping reduces the conductivity of the system and the onset superconducting transition temperature decreases from 42 K for x = 0 to 21 K for x = 0.06. This maybe due to a distortion of RuO6 octahedral, which is responsible of the increase in hole localization. The corresponding magnetic moment in the investigated samples is about 0.1 μB for Ru. Furthermore we discuss the influence of phase composition on superconducting and magnetic order.

Crystalline La doped Cu-Zn ferrite with compositions Cu0.15Zn0.85LaxFe2-xO4 [ x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 and 0.08] were synthesized by using conventional solid state reaction method technique. X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), Crystalline La doped Cu-Zn ferrite with compositions Cu0.15Zn0.85LaxFe2-xO4 [x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06 and 0.08] were synthesized by using conventional solid state reaction method technique. X-ray diffraction pattern (XRD), scanning electron micrographs (SEM), hysteresis loop (M-H) curves and frequency dependent resistivity were employed to inspect the effect of La3+ doping on the structure, microstructure, magnetic and transport properties of the specimens. All the specimens exhibited fcc type cubic spinel structure where the particle size were within 500-1600 nm range. Magnetically ferromagnetic phenomenon was found for all the samples where the effect of La3+ doping consequence on the variation of various parameters like saturation magnetization (Ms), coercivity (Hc) and remanent magnetization (Mr). The resistivity tuned by frequency for all the samples presented the decreasing phenomenon with the increase of applied frequency.

AbstractThe silicate-type and Eu3+-activated Sr3SiO5 and Mg3SiO5 were prepared through the high temperature solid state reaction method under an open atmosphere. DTA/TG analysis was conducted to obtain information about the thermal behaviors of the mixed reactants. Using the DTA/TG results, the sintering process was achieved and the phase properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The effects of the same activator (Eu3+) and co-dopant (Dy3+) on the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the host lattices were investigated by using a photoluminescence spectrometer.

In this paper, Ni0.60Cu0.24Zn0.16Fe2O4/BaTiO3composites of BaTiO3(BT)/NiCuZn (NCZ) with mass ratios (x) equal to 5%, 10%, 15% or 20% were synthesised by a conventional solid-state reaction method and sintered at 900oC to adapt to low temperature co-fired ceramic technology. X-ray diffraction results showed that the composites were composed of BT and NCZ phases. The microstructures of the sintered composite materials were observed and analysed using scanning electron microscopy. The dielectric and magnetic properties of the composites were improved effectively with increasing BaTiO3content. The influences of different compositions on the electromagnetic properties of the composites were investigated.

Abstract (K,Na,Li)NbO3-BaZrO3-(Bi,Na)TiO3-x B2O3 (abbreviated as KNLN-BZ-BNT-x B2O3) ceramics were prepared by conventional solid state reaction method. The effects of B2O3 content on dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the KNLN-BZ-BNT ceramics have been studied. Based on the identification by X-ray diffraction (XRD), all the samples show a two-phase coexistence zone consisting of rhombohedral (R) and tetragonal (T) phases. For the ceramics with x = 0.5 wt%, the sintering temperature was observed to reduce from 1200 oC to 940 oC, while the samples maintained a high relative density around 97%. Because of the high densification and large grain size, the dielectric and piezoelectric properties were improved. As a result, the ceramics with x = 0.5 wt% sintered at 940 oC exhibited good properties of d 33 = 197 pC/N, k p= 0.29, tan δ = 0.029 and ε r = 1889, together with a Curie temperature (T C) of 222 oC.
