This paper proposes a path tracking control algorithm of tracked mobile robots based on Preview Linear Model Predictive Control (MPC), which is used to achieve autonomous driving in the unstructured environment under an emergency rescue scenario. It is the future trend to realize the communication and control of rescue equipment with 6G and edge cloud cooperation. In this framework, linear MPC (LMPC) is suitable for the path tracking control of rescue robots due to its advantages of less computing resources and good real-time performance. However, in such a scene, the driving environment is complex and the path curvature changes greatly. Since LMPC can only introduce linearized feedforward information, the tracking accuracy of the path with large curvature changes is low. To overcome this issue, combined with the idea of preview control, preview-linear MPC is designed in this paper. The controller is verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulation and prototype experiment. The results show that the proposed method can improve the tracking accuracy while ensuring real-time performance and has better tracking performance for the path with large curvature variation.

AbstractIt is a striking fact that the path tracking accuracy of autonomous vehicles based on active front wheel steering is poor under high-speed and large-curvature conditions. In this study, an adaptive path tracking control strategy that coordinates active front wheel steering and direct yaw moment is proposed based on model predictive control algorithm. The recursive least square method with a forgetting factor is used to identify the rear tire cornering stiffness and update the path tracking system prediction model. To adaptively adjust the priorities of path tracking accuracy and vehicle stability, an adaptive strategy based on fuzzy rules is applied to change the weight coefficients in the cost function. An adaptive control strategy for coordinating active front steering and direct yaw moment is proposed to improve the path tracking accuracy under high-speed and large-curvature conditions. To ensure vehicle stability, the sideslip angle, yaw rate and zero moment methods are used to construct optimization constraints based on the model predictive control frame. It is verified through simulation experiments that the proposed adaptive coordinated control strategy can improve the path tracking accuracy and ensure vehicle stability under high-speed and large-curvature conditions.

Depth perception is paramount for tackling real-world problems, ranging from autonomous driving to consumer applications. For the latter, depth estimation from a single image would represent the most versatile solution since a standard camera is available on almost any handheld device. Nonetheless, two main issues limit the practical deployment of monocular depth estimation methods on such devices: (i) the low reliability when deployed in the wild and (ii) the resources needed to achieve real-time performance, often not compatible with low-power embedded systems. Therefore, in this paper, we deeply investigate all these issues, showing how they are both addressable by adopting appropriate network design and training strategies. Moreover, we also outline how to map the resulting networks on handheld devices to achieve real-time performance. Our thorough evaluation highlights the ability of such fast networks to generalize well to new environments, a crucial feature required to tackle the extremely varied contexts faced in real applications. Indeed, to further support this evidence, we report experimental results concerning real-time, depth-aware augmented reality and image blurring with smartphones in the wild.

Recently, model predictive control (MPC) is increasingly applied to path tracking of mobile devices, such as mobile robots. The characteristics of these MPC-based controllers are not identical due to the different approaches taken during design. According to the differences in the prediction models, we believe that the existing MPC-based path tracking controllers can be divided into four categories. We named them linear model predictive control (LMPC), linear error model predictive control (LEMPC), nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC), and nonlinear error model predictive control (NEMPC). Subsequently, we built these four controllers for the same mobile robot and compared them. By comparison, we got some conclusions. The real-time performance of LMPC and LEMPC is good, but they are less robust to reference paths and positioning errors. NMPC performs well when the reference velocity is high and the radius of the reference path is small. It is also robust to positioning errors. However, the real-time performance of NMPC is slightly worse. NEMPC has many disadvantages. Like LMPC and LEMPC, it performs poorly when the reference velocity is high and the radius of the reference path is small. Its real-time performance is also not good enough.

Given that the tracking accuracy and real-time performance of the particle filter (PF) target tracking algorithm are greatly affected by the number of sampled particles, a PF target tracking algorithm based on particle number optimization under the single-station environment was proposed in this study. First, a single-station target tracking model was established, and the corresponding PF algorithm was designed. Next, a tracking simulation experiment was carried out on the PF target tracking algorithm under different numbers of particles with the root mean square error (RMSE) and filtering time as the evaluation indexes. On this basis, the optimal number of particles, which could meet the accuracy and real-time performance requirements, was determined and taken as the number of particles of the proposed algorithm. The MATLAB simulation results revealed that compared with the unscented Kalman filter (UKF), the single-station PF target tracking algorithm based on particle number optimization not only was of high tracking accuracy but also could meet the real-time performance requirement.

In this paper, a real-time road-Object Detection and Tracking (LR_ODT) method for autonomous driving is proposed. The method is based on the fusion of lidar and radar measurement data, where they are installed on the ego car, and a customized Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) is employed for their data fusion. The merits of both devices are combined using the proposed fusion approach to precisely provide both pose and velocity information for objects moving in roads around the ego car. Unlike other detection and tracking approaches, the balanced treatment of both pose estimation accuracy and its real-time performance is the main contribution in this work. The proposed technique is implemented using the high-performance language C++ and utilizes highly optimized math and optimization libraries for best real-time performance. Simulation studies have been carried out to evaluate the performance of the LR_ODT for tracking bicycles, cars, and pedestrians. Moreover, the performance of the UKF fusion is compared to that of the Extended Kalman Filter fusion (EKF) showing its superiority. The UKF has outperformed the EKF on all test cases and all the state variable levels (-24% average RMSE). The employed fusion technique show how outstanding is the improvement in tracking performance compared to the use of a single device (-29% RMES with lidar and -38% RMSE with radar).

At present, many path tracking controllers are unable to actively adjust the longitudinal velocity according to path information, such as the radius of the curve, to further improve tracking accuracy. For this problem, we propose a new path tracking framework based on model predictive control (MPC). This is a multilayer control system that includes three path tracking controllers with fixed velocities and a velocity decision controller. This new control method is named multilayer MPC. This new control method is compared to other control methods through simulation. In this paper, the maximum values of the displacement error and the heading error of multilayer MPC are 92.92% and 77.02%, respectively, smaller than those of nonlinear MPC. The real-time performance of multilayer MPC is very good, and parallel computation can further improve the real-time performance of this control method. In simulation results, the calculation time of multilayer MPC in each control period does not exceed 0.0130 s, which is much smaller than the control period. In addition, when the error of positioning systems is at the centimeter level, the performance of multilayer MPC is still good.

For conventional fuzzy path tracking controller need to manually updated the control parameters in order to get better tracking control deficiencies and the lack of robustness of the problem when the control object is disturbed. Parameters self-adjusting tracking algorithm is proposed based on Cerebellum Model Articulation Controller(CMAC) and fuzzy logic composite of the control. The CAMC control logarithm first charged with tracking through learning objects charged with approximation of the object model, to learning cycle worth to control corresponding to the amount of correction corresponding weight value according to the error between input and output of the system and set the learning rate. When the object or environment changes can make the control performance of the system is automatically adjusting within a certain range, since the role of the CAMC. Tracking experiments show that. The tracking control algorithm has high tracking accuracy and good robustness, is conducive to the overall optimization of robot path tracking.
