The development of miniature antennas for bio-medical applications has attracted the attention of many researchers in the last years. In this letter, we provide a miniature antenna for the RFID tag for identifying patients in African and European hospitals. The proposed antenna is designed on a flexible silicon substrate with a relative dielectric constant of 11.9 and a thickness of 1.6mm. An in-depth study of the proposed wearable antenna was made in free space and on human tissue. The achieved results showed good performance in terms of miniaturization, bandwidth, impedance matching and, reading distance. The presented tag antenna is designed and simulated by using CST-MWS solver and the results were validated by HFSS and both results are in good agreement.

Cylinder is a common object and used in logistics industry, such as liquid container like wine. The performance of tags that are used on these objects declines, especially the read range and the radiation pattern of the tag. In this paper, a type of UHF tag antenna directly mountable on the cylinder surface. In order to reduce the impact of the deformation, the tag is designed with meander-line but not symmetrical. Antenna is combined with T-matching network to ensure good impedance matching. Compared with the basic dipole antenna tag both cylinder and plane surface, we can get the prominent feature of the tag proposed in this paper.

Planar UHF RFID antimetal tag can be widely used for the metallic products or packages with metal material inside. A double loop inductive feed planar patch antenna is proposed for UHF RFID tag mounted on metallic objects. Compared to conventional microstrip antennas or PIFA antennas used for UHF RFID tags, the double loop inductive feed patch antenna has a planar structure, with no short via or short wall, which could decrease the manufacturing cost of the tags. The double loop inductive feed structure also increases the radiation performance of the planar antenna. Moreover, the double loop inductive feed structure makes the impedance of the patch antenna be tuned easily for conjugate impedance matching.

A novel compact planar UHF RFID tag with broadband operation and enhanced read range characteristics are presented. The structure of the tag consists of a T- matched dipole antenna whose arms are orthogonally loaded with Triangular SRR arrays. Triangular SRR arms loaded in the structure produce compactness and good impedance matching which is needed for maximizing the read range. The measured results shows that the projected tag shows a highest read range of 9.6 meter in the European UHF RFID band of 866 MHz and significantly better read range in the other UHF RFID bands in the 860-930 MHz range . Measured read range differences over the azimuth and elevation angular ranges are also suggested.

AbstractThis paper presents a block-chain enabled inkjet-printed ultrahigh frequency radiofrequency identification (UHF RFID) system for the supply chain management, traceability and authentication of hard to tag bottled consumer products containing fluids such as water, oil, juice, and wine. In this context, we propose a novel low-cost, compact inkjet-printed UHF RFID tag antenna design for liquid bottles, with 2.5 m read range improvement over existing designs along with robust performance on different liquid bottle products. The tag antenna is based on a nested slot-based configuration that achieves good impedance matching around high permittivity surfaces. The tag was designed and optimized using the characteristic mode analysis. Moreover, the proposed RFID tag was commercially tested for tagging and billing of liquid bottle products in a conveyer belt and smart refrigerator for automatic billing applications. With the help of block-chain based product tracking and a mobile application, we demonstrate a real-time, secure and smart supply chain process in which items can be monitored using the proposed RFID technology. We believe the standalone system presented in this paper can be deployed to create smart contracts that benefit both the suppliers and consumers through the development of trust. Furthermore, the proposed system will paves the way towards authentic and contact-less delivery of food, drinks and medicine in recent Corona virus pandemic.

This work proposes a novel multiband slotted planar antenna with a “回” structure, which is similar to an ancient Chinese window grille structure. The antenna is suitable for wireless applications, including the second-generation (2G), third-generation (3G), fourth-generation (4G), and fifth-generation (5G) technologies, as well as WLAN and navigation applications. The proposed antenna is based on the structural characteristics of a conventional monopole antenna, which combines the advantages of a slit structure and microstrip line structure for feeding. It adopts a circular patch with a slit structure placed in it, which is similar to the Chinese classical pane structure. This structure enables an effective reduction of the size of the antenna. The four-sided “回” gaps change the path of current flow and are coupled to each other, improving the impedance matching and radiation characteristics of the entire target frequency band. The antenna covers the frequency ranges of 1.58–1.77 GHz (12%), 2.1–2.50 GHz (17%), 3.61–4.09 GHz (12%), and 4.75–6.5 GHz (36%), permitting more than 10 wireless applications in these 4 frequency bands. This antenna uses an FR-4 dielectric material; the relative dielectric constant of the dielectric plate is 4.4, and the actual dimensions of the antenna are 85 × 70 × 1.6 mm³. The test and simulation results are in good agreement with each other, thus confirming that the proposed design method meets the requirements of various wireless applications.

The Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology has been increasingly used for various application such as tracking of products, smart cards, identification, item management, security etc. In this paper, the performance parameter of the passive UHF RFID tag antenna has been studied for four different substrate materials viz., FR4 epoxy, PET, Rogers 4350, Taconic TLY materials. A simple meandered dipole antenna has been designed using a T-match stub for impedance matching of the tag antenna with the attached RFID chip. These different substrates are then designed separately, for the same antenna geometry. The effect of using these substrates on RFID tag antenna parameters such as reflection coefficient, antenna gain, VWSR, radiation pattern, impedance, ease of optimization level, read range, and radiation efficiency are then observed.

<p>A microstrip dipole UHF-RFID tag antenna that can be mounted on metal object is presented in this paper. The antenna, which has a very simple structure without any shorting pin and shorting plate, is composed of ladder feed line, rectangular loop, capacitive tip-loading and T-match structure. The insertion of ground plane in the tag antenna design reduces the negative impact of metal object to the performance of the tag antenna. The tag is designed to operate in the Malaysia frequency range with the center frequency of 921 MHz. The performance of the tag is evaluated through simulation and measurement in terms of impedance matching, antenna reflection coefficient and tag reading range. The measured reading range obtained when the tag is in free air and on metal object is 2.3 m and 2.2 m respectively.</p>

This work presents a series of independent bandpass filters (BPFs) based on dual-mode resonators (DMRs) with short stub-loaded. BPFs conform to the 802.11n protocol and include three passbands with center frequencies and bandwidths of 2.46 GHz, 3.55 GHz and 5.22 GHz, 130 MHz, 130 MHz and 470 MHz. Insertion loss and reflection loss are 1.5 dB, 1.6 dB and 1.3 dB, 18 dB, 20 dB, 30 dB. The filters are useful in the WLAN/WIMAX applications with compact size. According to the current distributions along the resonator, the feed-lines with high design flexibility arms were introduced in order to supply the needed external coupling for the dual-/tri passbands simultaneously, and achieve good impedance matching in each passband. Finally, by the version 15 of High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), three BPFs with single, dual and triple passbands were designed on the Rogers 5880 substrate with the relative dielectric constant Ɛr = 2.2, substrate loss tanδ = 0.002, and the thickness h = 0.508 mm. The BPFs are measured by Agilent 85058E Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The measured results have good agreement with the simulated ones.
