<p>The study innovated the industrial technology programmes of Nigerian universities for effective application of mobile<br />communication technologies and quality assurance of graduates. Five research questions guided the study while three null<br />hypotheses formulated were tested at .05 level of significance. The study made use of descriptive survey design and was<br />carried out in Enugu State, Nigeria. The participants for the study were 120 comprising of 67 lecturers of<br />electrical/electronic technology and 53 technologists of industrial technical education. A 97-item questionnaire was used as<br />instrument for data collection. One hundred and eighteen copies of the questionnaire were retrieved. The data collected were<br />analyzed using mean, factor analysis, standard deviation and improvement need index (INI) to answer the four research<br />questions while analysis of variance was employed to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. Results revealed that<br />33 innovations for inclusion into programme of electrical/electronic technology. Furthermore, the results of the study<br />revealed that teachers need improvement in implementing the innovated contents of electrical/electronic technology aspect<br />of industrial technical education programme. Hence, there is need to package the findings of the study into training<br />programme and use it for building the capacity of teachers of electrical/electronic technology in Nigerian universities.</p>

This study aims to assess the factors influencing quality assurance of Business Education programme in Nigerian public Education Colleges of Ogun State. Thus, the study was guided by three research questions and three null hypotheses. Consisting of 245 Business Education students’ sampling, the study adopts descriptive survey design. Adapted from Babayemi (2019), Azasu, et. al. (2015) and Salami (2019), this study developed a structured questionnaire, Factors Influencing Quality Assurance of Business Education Programme Questionnaire (FIQABEDQ) as its structured questionanaire. The questionnaire was validated by three experts and applied to the study. Split-half method was utilised to establish reliability coefficient, at 0.83 using Cronbach Alpha. The data generated for the study were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. All null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using inferential statistic of ANOVA. The findings showed, among others, that Business Education curriculum moderately influenced the achievement of Business Education Programme’s objective. In addition, this study suggests that Business Education curriculum should be revisited and tailored towards equipping for self-employment, among others. Therefore, cooperation and collaboration among Business Education’s stakeholders are needed in an attempt to achieve the stated objectives in Business Education by providing ample and proper modern facilities in their tertiary institutions.

The study examined the problem of disaster management in Nigeria using Bayelsa State as a case study. Four null hypotheses were raised and tested at a 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted the descriptive survey design and sample sizes of 300 adults were drawn from fifteen (15) affected communities in Bayelsa State. The instrument used for data collection was a disaster management questionnaire and the data were analyzed using chi-square. The finding of the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between poor integrated policy and action plan as well as weak institutional capacity and collaboration of disaster management agencies and effectiveness of disaster management in Bayelsa State. The study clearly showed that there is a significant relationship between poor commitment and piece-meal approach by the multi-layered levels of government as well as poor stakeholders’ participation and synergy and effectiveness of disaster management in Bayelsa State. The study recommended among others that long-term monitoring and surveillance mechanism; continuous provision of infrastructure for the host communities by prospecting oil companies; adequate funding by governmental and non-governmental and the development of a national oil spill contingency plan should be adopted and deployed with an eye to guaranteeing sustainable development of the environment in the region.


This research determined students’ perception of teachers’ characteristics of interest, attitude and subject mastery as required in the teaching of chemistry in senior secondary schools in Abakaliki Education Zone of Ebonyi State. The study made use of a descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised all the chemistry students in all public secondary schools in Abakaliki Education Zone. From a total population of six hundred and thirty (630) senior secondary II students, a sample of three hundred (300) students was used for the study selected by stratified random sampling technique. This was based on the four local government areas in the Education zone. A structured questionnaire in a four point Likert type format was used for data collection. The instrument had a reliability coefficient of 0.88, which showed a high internal consistency. Three research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while t-test statistic was used to test the lone null hypothesis. Results of the study indicated that students perceived to a high extent; teachers’ interest, attitude towards chemistry and mastery of the subject as necessary characteristics in the teaching of chemistry. The hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance was not significant. Based on the results of the study and the educational implications of the results, recommendations were made.

Leadership styles remain very pertinent in the effective performance of an organization. Without good leadership ability to coordinate the staff and the activities in an organization may be hampered thereby affecting the overall development of such organization. Leadership is an important determinant in the effective functioning of an organization. The research employs descriptive survey design of correlation type which is very important as the study tries to find out the relationship between leadership styles of sports administrators and organization performance in Ilorin. Two research questions and three operational hypotheses were formulated for the study. The target populations for the study are 62 sports personnel in the sports council Ilorin which comprised of Director of Sports, Stadium manager, organizing secretaries and coaches of the existing 20 sports in the Kwara State Sports Council. No sample is selected as the researcher made use of all the sports personnel as respondents for the study. Researcher questionnaire designed in a modified four points likert rating scale was used to collect data from the respondents which was validated by a Professor of sports management, Kwara State University, Malete and a season sports administrator, ministry of youth and sports, Abuja and tested for reliability using split half method and Cronbach alpha was used to determine the result with a coefficient of 0.80 obtained. Inferential statistic of multiple regressions was used to test the null hypotheses formulated at 0.05 level of significance. The findings reveal that leadership styles of sports administrators have significant relationship with organization performance, each leadership style has significant contribution to organization performance and all the leadership styles significantly contributed to organization performance. Among the recommendations suggested include: Sports administrators must be able to employ variety of leadership style is the best among others. The study examines managing teacher education and innovative reforms agenda for curriculum execution in secondary schools in Imo state, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey design. The population comprised of Five hundred and thirty (530) secondary school Principal in Imo state school system. The sample consisted of 200 duty principals randomly selected by stratified technique from each of the three education zones of the state, Okigwe, Orlu, and Owerri. Fifteen (15) items questionnaire was the instruments for data collection and the instrument was validated by experts in Imo state University, Owerri. The questionnaire which recorded a reliability coefficient of 0.89 was administered face to face to 200 respondents by the researchers who also retrieved same. The data collected were analyzed with mean and standard deviation and null hypothesis were tested using the z-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance. Based on the results, the researchers made crucial recommendations that government and stakeholders in education should emphasize on managing teacher education and innovative reform agenda to enhance development of the nation.

Liquidity risk is the potential that an entity will be unable to acquire the cash required to meet its short and intermediate-term obligations. Deposit-taking Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (SACCOs) face liquidity risk when they are unable to fund their operations and lending requirements to their members as and when circumstances demand. Given that liquidity is a key phenomenon on the optimal functioning and financial performance of deposit-taking SACCOs, this study critically analyzed the effect of liquidity risk on the financial performance of DT SACCOs in Kenya. The study used a descriptive survey design and employed regression methods to model the relationship between liquidity risk and financial performance of DT SACCOs. The data were analyzed at a 5% level of significance. The study findings revealed that at a 5% level of significance, liquidity risk had a statistically significant influence on the financial performance of deposit-taking SACCOs. Basing on the findings, DT SACCOs are encouraged to focus on enhancing the mobilization of deposits to ensure that an asset portfolio that minimizes liquidity risk is maintained.

Abstract Accreditation is carried out to ensure that universities meet acceptable standards of quality in its programme offerings. This paper, which examined politics of National Universities Commission programme accreditation practices used descriptive survey design. The research covered universities in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, Nigeria. Three research questions were raised to enhance the study. Purposive sampling technique was utilized to raise a sample of 85 current and former Heads of Departments for the study. A 21 - item instrument titled “Politics of Accreditation Practices Questionnaire (PAPQ)” was drawn, validated and tested for reliability using Cronbach Alpha. The index of reliability was 0.84 which indicated the fitness of the instrument for use. Data derived from the instrument were analyzed using means and standard deviation. Findings indicated that politics has been part of programme accreditation practices. Aspects of politics of accreditation identified were: politics of funding, borrowed books to boost library stock, borrowed facilities, window dressing of facilities, among others. The major challenges to programme accreditation as identified by the respondents were inadequate funding, inadequate and obsolete facilities and too much paper documentation. Suggestions to remedy the challenges to accreditation included that adequate funds should be made available to universities and internal mechanism for quality assurance should be strengthened within the universities.

Purpose – This study aims to investigate the degree and frequency of utilisation of information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled platforms for knowledge-sharing by academic librarians in south-west Nigeria. It also seeks to identify possible barriers as well as strategies that will promote efficient utilisation of these platforms. Design/methodology/approach – This study adopted a descriptive survey design, using a researcher-developed questionnaire for data collection. Fifty-two professional librarians from selected academic libraries in south-west Nigeria were surveyed. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis. Findings – Finding from the investigation revealed that academic librarians in south-west Nigeria are increasingly utilising ICT platforms for knowledge-sharing in preference to the traditional platforms. However, ignorance of existing ICT knowledge-sharing platforms, limited ICT skills and an unhealthy technology environment remain major challenges. Originality/value – The findings of this study have far-reaching implications for Nigerian academic librarians’ professional development. It advocates maximum utilisation of ICT platforms to enhance knowledge-sharing and collaboration for professional development, scholarly communication and efficient service delivery.

This paper evaluated the influence of PDP on Basic School Teachers’ Classroom Practices in North-Central, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. In selecting samples for this study, 746 basic school teachers were purposively selected from 84 sampled Basic Schools across three sampled states using stratified sampling technique out of the six states and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The Questionnaire “Influence of Professional Development Programmes ”(IPDP) with reliability index of 0.74 was used. One - Way Analysis of Variance was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed no significance influence of teachers’ participation in PDPs on psychomotor and affective classroom practices based on experience (F (2,724) = .018, p = 982); and F(2,724) =.628, p = .534) were observed .Consequently, teachers’ participation in PDPs had no significant influence in psychomotor and affective classroom practices based on years of experience. There is need to make the programme more effective in term of organization and implementation as antidotes to the hindrances confronting the PDPs in North-Central, Nigeria.

The paper examined the perception of student counsellors studying Guidance and Counselling in various Nigerian Universities on ethical codes which should guide and protect the counselling profession. Four research questions were raised to guide the study and two corresponding hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted the descriptive survey design, with a sample of 1,500 students, drawn from selected Nigerian universities using the multistage sampling technique. The instrument used to gather data for the study was a 50 item questionnaire constructed by the researcher. The psychometric properties were determined and found adequate for use. The test-re-test method was applied to determine reliability which yielded r = 0.88. Senior lecturers in the Department of Guidance and Counselling ascertained content and construct adequacy of the instrument. Data collected were analysed using mean and standard deviation to answer research questions and t-test to test the hypotheses. The study found out that respondents perceived counselling codes highly irrespective of their gender and religious beliefs although male respondents showed stronger agreement. It was therefore recommended that the Counselling Association of Nigeria should develop counselling ethical codes for professional counselling practice in Nigeria without considering any bias for gender and religion.
