In this paper, the hybrid TSR-PSR protocol for wireless energy harvesting (EH) relaying network over the Weibull fading channel is investigated. The system network is working in half-duplex (HD) mode. For evaluating the system performance, the closed-form and integral-form expressions of the outage probability (OP) are investigated and derived. After that, numerical results convinced that our derived analytical results are the same with the simulation results by using Monte Carlo simulation. This paper provides a novel recommendation for the wireless EH relaying network.

Power-line communication (PLC) networks have been increasingly used for constructing industrial IoT (internet of things) and home networking systems due to their low-cost installation and broad coverage feature. To guarantee the transmission reliability, ARQ (automatic repeat request) scheme is introduced into the link layer of reliable PLC networks, which allows the retransmission of a data frame several times so that it has a higher probability to be correctly received. However, current studies of performance analysis for PLC MAC (medium access control) protocol (i.e., IEEE 1901) do not take into account of the impact of ARQ scheme. To resolve this problem, we propose an analytical model to investigate the MAC performance of IEEE 1901 protocol for reliable PLC networks with ARQ scheme. In the modeling process, we first establish a PLC channel model to reflect the impacts of PLC channel types (containing Rayleigh fading and Log-normal fading), additive non-Gaussian noise feature and ARQ scheme on data transmission at link layer. Next, we employ Renewal theory and Queueing dynamics to capture the transmission attempt behavior of executing IEEE 1901 protocol in the unsaturated environment with finite transit buffer size. On the basis of combining these two models, we derive the closed-form expressions of 1901 MAC metrics considering the influence of the ARQ scheme. Furthermore, we prove that the proposed analytical model has the convergence property. Finally, we evaluate the MAC performance of 1901 protocol for reliable PLC networks with ARQ scheme and verify the proposed analytical model.

This paper investigates the cooperative anti-jamming distributed channel selection problem in UAV communication networks. Considering the existence of malicious jamming and co-channel interference, we design an interference-aware cooperative anti-jamming scheme for the purpose of maximizing users’ utilities. Moreover, the channel switching cost and cooperation cost are introduced, which have a great impact on users’ utilities. Users in the UAV group sense the co-channel interference signal energy to judge whether they are influenced by co-channel interference. When the received co-channel interference signal energy is lower than the co-channel interference threshold, users conduct channel selection strategies independently. Otherwise, users cooperate with each other and take joint actions with a cooperative anti-jamming pattern under the impact of co-channel interference. Aiming at the independent anti-jamming channel selection problem under no co-channel interference, a Markov decision process framework is introduced, whereas for the cooperative anti-jamming channel selection case under the influence of co-channel mutual interference, a Markov game framework is employed. Furthermore, motivated by Q-learning with a “cooperation-decision-feedback-adjustment” idea, we design an interference-aware cooperative anti-jamming distributed channel selection algorithm (ICADCSA) to obtain the optimal anti-jamming channel strategies for users in a distributed way. In addition, a discussion on the quick decision for UAVs is conducted. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm converges to a stable solution with which the UAV group can avoid malicious jamming, as well as co-channel interference effectively and can realize a quick decision in high mobility UAV communication networks.

This study presents ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) network as a concept of "modulation in the air" that has drawn growing interest by both academia and industry recently. In particular, we investigate and analyze an AmBC system relying on cognitive radio, where the primary destination is equipped with multiple antennas and maximum ratio combining (MRC). A wireless powered relay is necessary to serve both primary and secondary destinations. Benefiting from the surrounding radio frequency (RF) source, the relay can support the backscattering signal. To facilitate the performance analysis of received nodes, this study presents exact closed-form expressions of the outage probability. For comparison, the outage and throughput performance of these nodes are considered in numerical simulation. Taking advantage of the AmBC technology, the impact of the backscatter ratio on system performance is carefully studied considering various other parameters. Simulation results demonstrate the exactness of the derived outage probabilities and show that the optimal throughput performance can be achieved at specific parameters.

This paper presents a thermodynamic performance analysis of turbine-bleeding organic Rankine cycle (ORC) with and without regeneration using internal heat exchanger based on the first and second thermodynamic laws for the recovery of low-grade finite heat source. The effects of the important system parameters including turbine bleeding pressure, turbine inlet pressure, and working fluid on the system performance were intensively investigated. Results showed that there exists an optimum turbine bleeding pressure for the maximum second-law efficiency. The system performance under the optimal condition is significantly influenced by the turbine inlet pressure, regeneration, and working fluid. The greatest exergy destruction of the system varies depending on the system parameters.

This paper investigates the cooperative anti-jamming distributed channel selection problem in UAV communication networks. Considering the existence of malicious jamming and co-channel interference, a location-aware cooperative anti-jamming scheme is designed for the purpose of maximizing the users' utilities. Users in the UAV group cooperate with each other via location information sharing. When the received interference energy is lower than mutual interference threshold, users conduct channel selection strategies independently. Otherwise, users take joint actions with a cooperative anti-jamming pattern under the impact of mutual interference. Aimed at the independent anti-jamming channel selection problem under no mutual interference, a Markov Decision Process framework is introduced, whereas for the cooperative anti-jamming channel selection case under the influence of co-channel mutual interference, a Markov game framework is employed. Furthermore, motivated by reinforcement learning with a ``Cooperation-Decision-Feedback-Adjustment" idea, we design a location-aware cooperative anti-jamming distributed channel selection algorithm (LCADCSA) to obtain the optimal anti-jamming channel strategies for the users with a distributed way. In addition, the channel switching cost and cooperation cost, which have great impact on the users' utilities, are introduced. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm converges to a stable solution with which the UAV group can avoid the malicious jamming as well as co-channel interference effectively.

The performance of the underwater optical wireless communication (UOWC) system is highly affected by seawater´s inherent optical properties and the solar radiation from sunlight, especially for a shallow environment. The multipath effect and degradations in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) due to absorption, scattering, and ambient noises can significantly limit the viable communication range, which poses key challenges to its large-scale commercial applications. To this end, this paper proposes a unified model for underwater channel characterization and system performance analysis in the presence of solar noises utilizing a photon tracing algorithm. Besides, we developed a generic simulation platform with configurable parameters and self-defined scenarios via MATLAB. Based on this platform, a comprehensive investigation of underwater channel impairments was conducted including temporal and spatial dispersion, illumination distribution pattern, and statistical attenuation with various oceanic types. The impact of ambient noise at different operation depths on the bit error rate (BER) performance of the shallow UOWC system was evaluated under typical specifications. Simulation results revealed that the multipath dispersion is tied closely to the multiple scattering phenomenon. The delay spread and ambient noise effect can be mitigated by considering a narrow field of view (FOV) and it also enables the system to exhibit optimal performance on combining with a wide aperture.
