Abstract"Around the world with the Foursquare Gospel." With these words Aimee Semple McPherson focused the mission and message of the denomination her ministry spawned. The mission of world evangelization was birthed in the heart of this Canadian woman as a teenager. In 1910 at age 20, she, with her husband Robert Semple, went to China as missionaries. After less than a year of ministry Robert died of malaria and was buried in Hong Kong. Heartbroken, Aimee returned to the U.S., but her vision for world missions remained. God's people must be challenged with a vision for the lost, a vision for reaching those yet unreached. The vision was clear. And the message was equally clear. It was a message about Jesus Christ. This message was dramatically focused for Mrs. McPherson during a citywide evangelistic meeting in Oakland, California in 1922 as she was preaching from Ezekiel 1:10. In the faces of the four living creatures she saw a fourfold picture of Jesus Christ as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer and Coming King. This "Foursquare Gospel" was the good news that must be proclaimed around the world1

It is argued that the proper way to construct and deliver a therapeutic sermon is to take a theocentric approach. Preaching, rightly understood, is proclamation of the good news that God has redeemed the world through Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. It is by definition theological. Feeling pressure to be relevant, engaging and contemporary, a significant number of preachers fall into administering mini-doses of psychological self-help from the pulpit. Hans Urs von Balthasar’s homily, ‘Joy in the Midst of Anxiety’, is offered as a positive alternative. The sermon is theologically and homiletically analysed to show why it is an excellent example of theocentric therapeutic preaching.

AbstractIn this article, Menzies notes that Reformed theologians have tended to read Luke's writings in the light of Paul's epistles. As a result, their theological reflection on the Spirit has centered more on his work in the Word and sacraments, the 'inner witness' of the Spirit, and less on his mission to the world. Additionally, this methodology has encouraged Reformed scholars to associate the Pentecostal gift (i.e. Spirit baptism) with conversion and regeneration. However, through an examination of key passages in Luke-Acts, Menzies argues that Luke has a unique contribution to make to a holistic biblical theology of the Spirit. Luke's understanding of baptism in the Holy Spirit is different from that of Paul. It is missiological rather than soteriological in nature. The Spirit of Pentecost is, in reality, the Spirit for others - the Spirit that compels and empowers the church to bring the 'good news' of Jesus to a lost and dying world. It is this Lukan, missiological perspective that shapes a Pentecostal understanding of baptism in the Holy Spirit. Menzies concludes that the clarity and vigor of Luke's message is lost when his narrative is read through Pauline lenses. Luke has a distinctive voice and it is a voice the church needs to hear.

AbstractIn this article, Michael W. Goheen summarizes and evaluates a debate between ecumenical pioneer Lesslie Newbigin and former WCC general secretary Konrad Raiser. Raiser exemplifies a trinitarian approach to ecumenism and mission that recognizes the universal presence of the Holy Spirit among all peoples and religions, and so would cease to have a Christocentric focus. For Newbigin, while a trinitarian approach to ecumenism and mission is of paramount importance, an abandonment of the centrality and universality of Jesus Christ is something that cannot be abandoned. In the end, says Goheen, the differences between Raiser and Newbigin are differences revolving around the meaning of Jesus Christ and his atoning work on the cross.

Baptism is a sacrament instituted and used by God Himself through Christ to purify, sanctify and to save human being out of  the power of evil spirit. Baptism celebration maintaining in a proper and faithful manner will be brought about the fullness grace and favor of God to the Catholic faithful. The experiences of the Catholic faithful regarding God’s grace and favor should not be only responded by full faith but also be properly responded by full action to bring it to the entire nations and human races. The Catholic Church as a communion of Christ disciples has been sent and guided by the Holy Spirit to spread out such grace and favor of God to all nations. Pastoral assembly of Surabaya Diocese conducted in 2019 strongly articulated that Baptism is a mean exactly used by God Himself to channel His grace and salvation to the entire human beings. Hence, the Disciples of Christ have to fully respond it by full faith and opened hart.  Christ Himself has sent His disciples to collectively spread out the grace, favor and salvation of God to all over the world.  This good news has to be brought firstly to the inner circle of the Catholic families, neighbours, communities, parishes, and diocese then to the society in general.

In the liturgical calendar St. Paul is mentioned twice – for the first time on the day of his conversion (25 January), and then during the celebration – in common with St. Peter the Apostle – when the congregation contemplates his life and martyr’s death (29 June). In this article, through the analysis of liturgical texts about St. Paul – biblical readings and forms of the Holy Mass, and Liturgy of the Hours – the spiritual richness and depth of mysteries of salvation are transmitted to the Church community by this Apostle of the Nations. The Apostle of Tarsus, through his life and deeds, showed us the power of the Holy Spirit operating in mankind, who makes us God’s children and lets us live not according to worldly but according to spiritual values. By giving His gifts to people, He contributes to the development of the Church. The Apostle is also the example of acceptance of the Gospel, which is revealed through preaching the Good News to all peoples. He shows that one can endure pain and suffering for sake of the Gospel. And sacrificing our life, giving it for the act of salvation leads to friendship with Christ and brotherly love. The liturgical texts which are designed to be prayed on St. Paul’s days deeper the certainty that God’s people have that Jesus was resurrected and is alive, and wishes to lead each man on the way to salvation.

Technological developments and changes in civilization in the era of globalization sweeping the world today has caused a multidimensional crisis so that the necessary mission service activities for outreach souls that need to be saved. Mission activities are the fulfillment of God's mission for the salvation of all humanity. The Holy Spirit must be present in every mission of mission, not just with funds and resources. This article discusses mission in a biblical perspective in the midst of a multidimensional crisis sweeping the world and its impacts with a qualitative descriptive method from literature study. The results and discussion show how important the role of mission is by involving church leaders who have a vision to mobilize local congregations involved in missionary activities for the salvation of God's people. Abstrak Perkembangan teknologi dan perubahan peradaban pada era globalisasi melanda dunia saat ini telah menimbulkan krisis multidimensi sehingga diperlukan kegiatan pelayanan misi untuk penjangkauan jiwa-jiwa yang perlu diselamatkan. Kegiatan misi merupakan penggenapan misi Allah bagi keselamatan seluruh umat manusia. Roh Kudus harus dihadirkan dalam setiap pengutusan kegiatan misi, bukan hanya sekedar dengan dana dan daya. Artikel ini membahas misi dalam perspektif alkitab di tengah krisis multidimensi yang melanda dunia serta dampak-dampaknya dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif dari kajian pustaka. Hasil dan pembahasan menunjukkan betapa pentingnya peranan misi dengan melibatkan pemimpin jemaat yang memiliki visi untuk memobilisasi jemaat lokal terlibat dalam kegiatan misi untuk keselamatan umat Tuhan.

The inquiry into the nature of atonement (or reconciliation) presupposes a broken relationship. Atonement (or reconciliation) brings about the restoration of the relationship, creating both a change in and renewal of it. Hence, atonement is recognized as a communicative and open-ended process, which needs continual repetition and renewal. Indeed, God reconciled the world with Himself once and for all (2 Cor. 5:19), but this atonement event is reappropriated in faith and put into effect again and again. In Luther’s theology, atonement designates the communicative disclosure of God’s salvation revealed to believers in the person and work of Jesus Christ in two ways: in the proclamation of the gospel and in the existential impartation of the person of Jesus Christ to the believer, who in turn is freed to enter new life, trusting in God, in the process of reconciliation. In this atonement event mediated by the work of the Holy Spirit, sin is overcome; the death and life of Jesus Christ are appropriated by God for the believer, and the person is separated from his or her sin. Therefore, atonement rests completely on the creative, communicative action of the triune God. However, there is also a human aspect involved that anticipates the believer’s death in baptism and transfers the believer into a new life (2 Cor. 5:17–19).

On his journey, the Church faces many heresies which try to deviate the orthodoxy teaching. One of these heresies was founded by Montanus and his teaching is known as Montanism. Montanus together with Maximilla and Priscilla claimed that they were filled by Holy Spirit and called themselves as a prophet and prophetesses who had to be followed and heard. The main teaching of this heresy is the promise of the second coming of Jesus Christ, and the promise of the end of the world. This theme is always interested by many people. The reason people attracted to the teaching of this heresy is the establishment of the coming of Jesus Christ which was promised by himself. Many of their followers became disappointed, because though the promised date had passed, Jesus Christ did not come yet. The other teaching of Montanism is about prophecy of the future which actually blinded the followers. If the prophecy failed to happen, it was because of the fault of the followers who lived less ascetic life and did many sins. The Prophets of Montanism had enthusiasm given by the Holy Spirit. It made them have to be obeyed and heard. They even claimed that the absolute truth was on their hand. Therefore, the hierarchy of the Church had to submit themselves to their teaching. Maximilla and Priscilla are two false prophetesses who had great influence in the Montanism period. In this heresy time, the Church had to work hard to fight Montanism teaching and prophecy, especially to defend its orthodoxy teaching of the Church from the false prophetesses.   Sepanjang perjalanan, Gereja menghadapi banyak eresi yang berusaha mendefiasikan ajaran resmi. Salah satu di antara eresi yang banyak itu dikembangkan oleh Montanus yang alirannya dikenal dengan Montanisme. Ia bersama dengan Maximilla dan Priscilla mengaku kepenuhan Roh Kudus dan menyebut diri mereka sebagai Nabi yang harus diikuti dan didengarkan. Ajaran pokok mereka adalah menjanjikan kedatangan Kristus yang mau tidak mau juga menjanjikan akhir dunia yang biasanya diminati oleh banyak orang. Salah satu alasan ketertarikan orang lebih akan ajaran eresi ini adalah penetapan kedatangan Kristus yang dijanjika-Nya, walau akhirnya banyak orang menjadi kecewa, karena waktu yang ditetapkan tidak kunjung datang. Ajaran mereka lainnya adalah ramalan masa yang akan datang yang berusaha mengelabui pengikutnya. Jika ramalan tidak terpenuhi atau tidak kunjung datang, maka kesalahan berdada di tangan para pemohon karena kurang askese dan disposisi diri tidak baik. Para nabi ini memiliki sikap antusiasme berlebihan yang menekankan peran Roh Kudus yang mereka terima. Dengan alasan ini, mereka harus ditaati dan didengarkan. Bahkan kebenaran absolut berada di tangan mereka, bahkan pemimpin Gereja sendiri harus tunduk pada pengajaran mereka ini. Maximilla dan Priscilla adalah dua nabi perempuan yang sesat. Mereka sangat berpengarauh pada periode Montanisme. Gereja harus berjuang keras pada periode mereka untuk meluruskan ajaran dan ramalan Montanisme, terlebih membela ortodox Gereja dari nabi perempuan yang palsu tersebut.

Questions about man, his freedom and liberation, are very important for human existence. Jesus Christ and His paschal mystery are the roots of Christian hope. Jesus is hope’s bearer, however He requires our trust. Jesus Christ fulfills in Himself all the Messianic promises, especially the one of salvific newness of life in the New Covenant, also called the new humanity. The central sign of this newness is the coming of God’s Kingdom. The universality of the Resurrection’s gift brings us hope that all human beings might experience new life. The salvific gift refers to the renewal of the world in the renewal of all men. And yet, the voice of the culture of death—which is the negation of man, his dignity and his hope—is loudly heard in today’s world. The culture of life, on the other hand, brings real hope, especially when it is marked by respect for life. The Christian attitude is one of thanking and praising the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the hope of the people,of the world, and, therefore, of the new evangelization.
